The Official Goku/Justin Chatwin Thread

I hate this choice
Why is Goku a student ???
Goku is uncivilized, he doesnt know what is a TV, a coffee, electricity ... nothing!
It really s****ck
SonGoku looks more asian, he doesn't look like american, in DB we dont say hes an alien because we don't know hes so in DB. this movie looks more Smallville :hehe:

think of it as an alternate universe, and "what if" , what if Goku went to high school, how would that turn out?

I'm not sold at this approach to Highschool Goku with Justin Chatwin.

I think 6'5 actor Armie Hammer Jr would have been a good choice to play young adult Goku.

He has the acting range to pull off Goku's upbeat personality:

His voice is way too deep and he's way too tall.

Oh I agree.

I just mentioned Hammer because he has that Brendan Fraser-like quality to him that's great for comedy and serious drama.

But Jerry's got it as well.

It's unfortunate there's no asian actors in Hollywood that fit the bill for this, but whatever.

I thought Goku is supposed to be tall?

Superman-like

Goku's height isn't a crucial part of the character so any actor who is at least of normal height can play him. Even if Goku's height were important for the character it could be changed. Look at Wolverine, the classic short superhero is being played by a tall man, and everyone from the GA to fanboys just accepts it.

Here's another suggestion for a young Goku using a lesser known actor.

Ryan Kennedy

He has a Keanu Reeves-like look thats somewhat racially ambiguous.

Does he have any Asian ancestry that you know of?

I'm not sure if he's part asian or native american, but he played Dean Cain's son in this movie.

He's Cosmic Boy on Smallville.

But he looks mixed, which is good.

It's weird seeing a white dude like Chatwin with a name like Goku. Doesn't fit as well.

Oh and I forgot, height isn't an issue anymore since LOTR, they can alter the height.

i don't. it's called curiosity. Brandon Routh looked just like Superman yet people were constantly asking if he was part Asian or Hispanic.

besides, i remember someone asking me what my opinion of Chatwin would be if i found out he were part Asian and thinking it was a silly question but i didn't respond with disrespect.

Well, to me, the characters look white to me in the DBZ series. So, I assume a white guy should play Goku. Makes sense to me.

I just think it's silly to ask if he looks the part

I only ask because some DB fans become very worked up if the actor isn't at least part Asian. I'm over it myself. My main gripe with Chatwin is that he appears to be dull in the role, not that he doesn't look Asian enough.
