The Official Goku/Justin Chatwin Thread

i hope chatwin learned something. never trust FOX again.

I would have loved to see a post "THE INVISIBLE" Chatwin play Nightwing in a NOLAN Batman film. He has a certain non-emo sadness and grief in his eyes

But after DBE?
No way... His rep is tarnished and I'm sure no director will trust him to carry a movie.

I personally feel sorry for him, I dont think even the greatest actor on earth could have saved this film. I just hope he has a career after this and goes on to star in worthy and better films.

I pray to the gods (McG, JJ Abrams, Gavin Hood and the great Chris Nolan) that this poor child (Chatwin) is saved from the devil (Tom Rothman/Fox)

At least James has his TV career... Brainiac and Spike.... not bad...
James knew what he was getting in to...
Chatwin wanted to a fun movie and got stuck with crap...

You know James wasn't that bad, just didn't see enough of him.

Chatwin did the best with what they gave him, to bad what they gave him wasn't very good.

Chatwin definitely didn't know what he was getting into. a role like Goku is wayyyyy over his head.

lesser known actor playing a well known character doesnt always work in this case. Jon Foo for Goku

My main problem with Chatwin was that vacant expression he seemed to always have on his face.

It was really annoying to have to see that for most of the film.

Definitely. I also laughed out loud when he got angry. His expressions were hilarious. I'm sure it wasn't intentional either. I really do feel sorry for this guy.

How dare you put Mcg on the same platter as Nolan...WTF???? NOLAN is amazing. what has McG done that wasn't bad?

MCG realesed a good terminator trailer and now he is god.
you dont know how SHH works?

just joking.

so back to DB. so its really bad? hehehhe

the only time Chatwin reminded me of Goku was when he smiled and was eating those two drum sticks

He deserves a better script that actually reflects Goku

I wish him the best in the future but I dont think the role of Goku is suited for him despite the script.

I don't think Goku's a very difficult role to play. If it's closer to the anime, there isn't a great deal of character development to worry about. What a DB film needs is a better writer/studio and more time. I'm sure Wong and Chatwin could've done better had they been offered better resources.

I just don't think Goku should just be some Asian or any ethnicity, stunt actor who has never had a single word of dialogue in their films.

While I think Jon Foo has the look of Goku, he's just a stunt actor.

Yet he landed the leading role in the upcoming Tekken Movie. You don't always need tons of acting experience, just look at most martial arts movies. And it always depends on what the role asks of you. Goku is just a silly, happy characters and always itching for a fight.

In which I'm sure he would probably just be fighting, but we shall see. I still think he's the perfect Goku regardless

Do you think Jon Foo could act silly, happy, and naive and be yet believable? Can he speak fluent English. Does Goku need to speak fluent English? It depends. If this was an Japanese production, No, but an American production, yes. that's the thing. NO one knows, Tekken is like his first movie without just being a stunt actor in which most of them he was uncredited for.

I also read in some trivia that Tow Weiling was considered. Do you like the idea of him being cast better?

i've only seen him in one fight scene, but i can't imagine him being any less mundane than Chatwin is in DB:E.

well, he grew up in London and is currently living in Los Angeles...so i'd bet my whole comic collection that he can speak fluent English.

hell, effin NO!

honestly...i haven't seen Welling act, but a lot of my dislike for Welling came from all of the Wellingites that wanted Welling for Superman back when they were making Superman Returns. another part of my dislike for the man comes from him having a weird face. it has nothing to do with his actual personality or qualities. i know it's shallow but whatever.
