Once again, Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man" Thread. Not the compare and contrast Webb vs Raimi thread. FINAL warning on this matter

So at one point there was talk about doing a sm 4 and 5 back to back filiming at the same time to have a sm 4 in 2011 and sm5 in 2012 or something if that happened what do you guys think the story would have been? What villains would there have been? Would they have rebooted after the 5th one? Or if they had done sm 4 and 5 like that would they have done even 6 at some point with rami?

I heard that Tobey wanted $50 million to do 4 and 5 together.

He doesn't say he quit because they were planning a reboot; he says he couldn't get finish writing in time with the quality he desired. He does not say anything about the planned reboot being the specific cause of his departure.

Hell, in the Amazing Spider-Man special features they say Raimi gave them the idea... but considering who said it was in Sony's payroll, I'd take that lightly.

That doesn't surprise me. Raimi loves the Lee/Ditko era most, and the Lizard's design was obviously based off those early appearances, I don't think we would have gotten the form made popular by MacFarlene and Bagley.

He was asked why Spider-Man 4 didn't happen and he brought up the fact that he found out they were planning on doing a reboot. Why would he bring that up if it wasn't a factor in his decision? And why would he want to put his best effort into a movie when the studio themselves aren't willing to put their best foot forward as well? It also sounds like Sony was trying to force Raimi out by giving him goals with unrealistic deadlines.

It's definitely implied, along with the fact that he didn't have enough time to do what he wanted.

Yeah I remember that. I also remember at one point there was talk about doing something like that with making spider man 3 and 4 has they felt like they had enough to make 2 movies but they couldn't think of a way to finish the 3erd movie to lead into the 4th one or something.

Spider-Man 3 definitely should have been two movies.

Should have had Eddie just get the symbiote at the very end.

This would have been a super badass mid-end credit scene.

Yeah the movie had to much going on and if they spilt the movie up into 2 movies has while has some of the delected scences the movie would have been a lot better probly and not felt like to much was going on and yeah that scence was great.

I want one, comic book continuations are so common nowadays.

I wish that would happen, but I don't see Marvel caring at all to do that today. Maybe 10 years ago when Sony's Spidey movies were the biggest thing on the block.

There's that 2 year gap between the 1st and 2nd movies, I always thought there was nice room for some small stories that could have happened in that period.

I don't think SM3 needed 2 films, honestly. I think doing Venom at the climax could have worked. But, I think Brock needed more scenes (like the one they FILMED with him visiting Gwen after he was fired and finding out about Parker). Also Gwen should have been kidnapped. Not MJ AGAIN! Yes, MJ and Peter have a personal connection, but they could have had MJ come to the battle site after Spider-Man was already there getting thrashed. Had Venom kidnapped Gwen, it would have developed HIS character better. Something he desperately needed.

I think those 2 basic changes make Venom better.

I believe Gwen was originally supposed to be kidnapped, until they found out GDH was preggers haha

who's GDH? are you talking about bryce because you must've mistyped a letter there. but yeah, i didn't know bryce was pregnant at the time

so i just atched CBC's podcast on SM3 and you are gonna be shoked whe you read this but......the dance scene in spiderman 3 was filmed for 2 weeks......i'm just messing you here that is true.

One of the most bad ass entrances any villain has ever made in a movie;

This is still too awesome.

Oh, so we're playing that game?

By the way, I see Raimi's early Spidey influence in terms of Spider-man himself. In the Lee/Romita stories, Spidey thought much more about saving the day as opposed to jokes, and that really showed in the Raimi movies. Some people are always looking for quips because they see it as his defining trait, but IMO that's not the essence of Spidey.

Just take out Sandman and Uncle Ben Murder Revamp and the movie would have more time to breath.
