I can't imagine Raimi returning, and in what capacity would he really be involved? It's not like he'd just call Maguire & Co back into action.

Sony is Doc Ock right now and the fusion experiment is the franchise: "IT'S ONLY A SPIKE, IT'LL SOON STABILIZE...!"

At least Sony realized they giant mistake they made by messing with Raimi's ideas and script

You have to figure that they had no problem kicking him out the door for the reboot(although I know it wasn't exactly like that). Now,after two mediocre/bad Amazing Spider-man films they wanna get rid of Andrew Garfield and possibly reboot the series again! The Spider-man franchise and name is floundering at the box office these days. I bet Sony wishes they could've kept Sam and co. for Spidey 4.

They should just give the damn thing to Marvel and be done with it. Sony's done enough damage already.

Agreed. Spider-Man is no longer safe at Sony. They are not capable of making good movies with him any more. It has been 10 long years since they did and that was because Raimi was able to make the Spider-Man movie he wanted to make.

This whole thing is a mess, poor Raimi. The character would be much better with Marvel, I still remember when Joss Whedon praised Raimi for his Spider-Man films, so awesome.

You know what's gonna be hilarious is that when/if the series gets rebooted again, the same fanboys that turned on the Raimi films when something new and shiny came along are gonna do the same with the ASM films lol :funny:

Most have already turned on them lol. I bet not many are going to care if Marvel get Spider-Man and reboot again.

Sam Raimi's original plans for Spider-Man 3 was for Spider-Man to face off against the Vulture and Sandman, was Harry still going to be the Goblin in it?

I think so I think they basicly replaced vulture with venom.

I'm gonna cheer like a madman if they do lol. I'm so ready for the ASM films to just **** off and not bother anyone ever again.

Co-signed.

Heck, I would be okay/happy with Spider-Man disappearing from cinema altogether for a couple of decades before I see another ASM movie being made.

Lately I've come to realize that I like Sam Raimi's portrayal of Spider-Man's powers better than the comics. Organic webbing and the tiny hairs. Yet I feel bad for admitting that for some reason. I'm not saying I hate the comics, no way. I just like those two specific iterations of those abilities, more than their comic counter parts. Spider-Man's powers all being organic just resonates with me better.

The weird thing is, this is new to me. Even after Spider-Man 1,2, and 3. I never made any specific preference over Spider-Man's powers. And while I didn't read Spider-Man comics as a kid, my exposure came from toys, cartoons, and video games, I was raised on the comic book version, till the movies came along when I was 12. Then I changed....wonder why...

At any rate, still love what Raimi I did with Spider-Man, third film be damned, it doesn't hurt anymore.

One thing these movies did really well was depicting how powerful Spidey is. He could take some huge beatings and dish it right back all the time. He held up that whole tram car full of kids in the 1st movie, he stopped a honking runaway train with his webs, he held up the entire side of Ock's hideout. Just lots of real impressive stuff.

I don't think Spidey's portrayed as strong as he should be these days. In the comics it seems like he's been really toned down, which stinks. Spidey's a slim powerhouse.

Spidey_62, I think the best part of the train sequence was not how powerful Spider-man was but how difficult was it for him to stop the train. He's not Superman, you know? *has an Aunt May moment*

Agreed, and something I really appreciate.
I saw a page from one of the Venom issues (Remender ones I think, I don't read that title), Spider-Man was stronger there than he is in his own title.

I'm glad you're patient, but I'm already antsy with no definitive plan for Spidey right now. I'd be crushed if he was gone for 20 or 30 years.

Yes, that was a contradiction. In the '90s, Spidey mentioned multiple times that Venom was not only more powerful, but considerably more powerful. Then in the first ongoing Venom title, Spidey defeated Eddie and said, "I've always been stronger than you."
