Sandman was a plus in SM3 for me and Venom and everything attached to that story line was garbage in my opinion. My eyes rolled so much during viewing of this film they almost got stuck. The somewhat retro vibe from the series was jarred into submission by the inclusion of the relatively modern Venom.

I just watched SM3, such a frustraiting movie. It got so close to being great but the flaws really bring it down, I still think its a good-decent movie and btw the ending was very powerful, there was no dialogue but you still understand what goes through the mind of both characters. I would have liked a final swing(specially because it was the last Spidey film from that trilogy) but it was still very good.

Its interesting how a lot of people consider the trilogy to be childish yet only SM2 has a true happy ending.

What do you guys think of the aspect ratio of the fist Spidey film?

The first two movies rank as the greatest comic book films I've ever seen, and Marvel Studios clearly understood why these movies worked and adopted its formula into the MCU. I mean, I love the Dark Knight and the Avengers, but I can always pop in any of the Raimi Spider-Man movies and get hooked right from the beginning.

Singer's X-Men may have started the comic book movie renaissance, but Spider-Man kicked it into the stratosphere and it hasn't come down since.

High-Five!

Spider-Man 1 actually seems to become my favorite more and more. If a series never happened, and that was the only Spider-Man movie we ever had, we'd be alright.

Both SM1 and SM2 are 10/10 movies for me. :)

The recent hacking of Sony Studios suggest that Sony wants Sam Raimi to return to Spider-Man.

PLEASE GOD YES.

It would be awesome if he came back, even if it was just as a creative influence on it. God know they need him, just as long as Sony stops interfering.

Morning, everyone. :)

Raimi is not needed. TASM series found its right tone in the first movie before they tried to turn everything into a comedy and shoehorn too many characters and arcs, which is the same thing that happened to Raimi in Spider-man 3.

Cheers.

Raimi's flaws are:

-Keeps having the villain take the hero's love interest in the final act of the movie.

-Keeps taking off Spider-Man's mask.

Other than that,I would like to see him come back to make more spidey films.

Disagreed. TASM tried to be dark and gritty like Dark Knight movies and it didn't suit Spider-Man. Raimi had the right tone with his first two movies. That is why they are most popular and successful. They are Spider-Man done right.

That is why it's great news that Sony have been asking him back. He's the best Spider-Man director.

Wait, Sony have been asking Raimi to come back?

Link please?

Would be great if he came back, I dont see Spiderman 1 or 2 by Raimi being beaten any time soon with a new Spidey flick. He could get things back on track.

But I don't want him without Tobey and you can bet Tobey won't want anything to do with this, soooo....

Raimi left because he wasn't being given the creative freedom he needed. The same creative freedom he had with SM1 and 2 and the same freedom he deserved.

Nothing has changed on Sony's end. The studio is pulling the same crap they pulled on Sam with SM3 and were attempting to pull on him with SM4. The same crap they've managed yet again to pull with the reboot. IMO, he wouldn't want to come back into that kind of situation. I'm not saying he wouldn't be able to get things back on track but he'd need the backing of the studio to make it happen. Sony obviously hasn't learned their lesson and seem to be taking the same path they've been on for the past 6 years or so.

Hilarious that Sony wants Raimi back. Hilarious!

Of course, I would love it if Raimi came back, even if it's just for something like creative consulting.

Yes, yes, yes. That'd be awesome. I don't want him back in the director's chair, but as a consultant or as a producer--game on.

This sums up my thoughts.

Point blank, it isn't as simple as bringing a prized director into the fold. There are some very serious issues it play that are way above the director's pay grade, and so long as those concepts and, more importantly, the people behind them, remain in place, we'll end up with a similar result in a different coat of paint.

I love the idea of Raimi giving it another go, but like Bryan Singer before him, he needs the support & faith of the studio heads, and the creative freedom to properly execute his vision. Anything less just won't cut it, and I'm at the point now where I'd rather have no Spider-Man movie than yet another cinematic fiasco.

Howdy, Doctor Octopus. :)

I didn't mean The Amazing Spider-man was "the" perfect tone for the character. I said the series, which is known for taking a new tone and distancing itself from what Raimi did, had found its own tone. And I was expecting it to be better on a sequel (which many times turns out to be better than a first movie. And yes, I did like TASM problems and all). If they rebooted the series, then let it grow, give the director enough space to expand his own direction.

Of course they want Raimi back; he was successful. But how absurd is having lost Raimi because they interfered and ruined the series, then they hire a new guy and reboot the whole thing, then interfere again and ruin their second series, then ask the original director to come back to help... with a reboot!!!

Cheers.

Thanks, Mr. J.

They truly have no idea what they're doing. Sony are just the ****ing worst. :lmao:

If it's true then they're obviously running back to the man who knew how to deliver great Spider-Man movies.

I truly think it pained Raimi having to leave the franchise and see Webb come in...

No other director has referred to a reboot of their film series as (I'm paraphrasing) ''an ex-girlfriend moving on with their life''. He LOVES this character.

He'd happily come back in some capacity... but not to pick up from Webb's pitiful scraps.

It would be the first smart decision they've made in AGES lol

It would be quite interesting if Raimi returned, this thread would now cover an extra movie for example! :p
