Totally agree. It's gotten better with time for me, but I'll never forget the letdown after first seeing it.

Time heals wounds. SM3 will always remain as one of the biggest disappointments I've had with regard to movie-going experiences. That won't change. However, I've come to enjoy the 'watch it cause it's so bad' fun that you can have with a film. The pain of the disappointment has shifted into memory.

I would definitely consider SM3 to be one of the greatest disappointments. But I wouldn't even consider it to be one of the worst CBMs... not even close.

Tbh the first time I watched SM3 it became my favorite film in the trilogy. It wasn't until a few years later than I realized how the movie failed to live up to the first 2 and its kinda sad to see how it turned out, the more my appreciation for SM2 increased, the more I was disappointed with SM3.

It definitely is one of the biggest disappointments but its not a terrible film IMo

I will admit to being so disappointed by SM3 that I was sort of in denial about it after walking out of it. That feeling has all but perished in the last two years and I've come to really like SM3, but it still has some flaws that brings it down from the same level as SM1 and SM2.

I agree with most of what you've stated minus a few things. But I do remember when the trailers were coming out for SM3, teaser included and my hype was at an all time high. I couldn't wait. Such exciting times...though I do recall many of the pertinent negatives that had surfaced prior to the release, i.e. making Marko Ben's killer, etc. Still, my excitement wasn't dampened and I had much faith in Raimi to deliver. I guess that would be the most disappointing part.

I gotta say that Spider-man 3 remains to this day,the most anticipated film of my life. I followed it like a religion. I adored the first two movies,but this one was special to me. I miss the days of constantly coming on this site,and sites like it trying to find out any piece of info I can.
And when I first saw Spider-man 3 at a midnight showing I was far from disappointed. I loved it. Adored it. I'll never forget that night. People were so excited,and the theater had a huge Venom figure in the lobby. It was a party type atmosphere. I thought it was the greatest film ever. In fact,I got up the very next morning and saw it again. I ended up seeing it a total of 7 times. The most times I've ever went to see a movie at the theater,and I was always entertained each time I saw it.
I think the reasons I felt that way was that I was just so pumped up to see it that no matter what I saw on screen,I was going to love it. Plus,I'm the kinda person that needs a little time to digest what I've just seen. Some people can watch films right there and then and decide whether or not it was good or bad. I like to take some time to really think about the films,see what other's say and then make up my mind.
Truth is that after I let some time go by my view on Spidey 3 did soften a bit. Now when I watch it I notice the flaws to it and see how badly Venom was screwed over. But,as I've said many times,I have always and will always love the film,flaws and all.

I'm not trying to start a hate thread against the Amazing Spidey films,but all of the movies in Raimi's trilogy were events. I would take off time from work to go see them. All 3 movies were so special,epic and fun. I don't think I've ever looked more forward to a series of movies like I have with Raimi's movies(I might throw Freddy vs. Jason in there too). I miss Sam,Tobey and Kirsten.

Of course,I want a Spider-man 3.1...desperately! But I'd also go for a Spider-man(2002)with deleted scenes as well. I have seen a few,but for some reason,and I remember Raimi saying this in an interview,but he doesn't like including deleted scenes on his dvd's. I have no idea why.

They keep on re-releasing the original trilogy on blu-ray though. IDK why they can't just throw in some of the deleted scenes instead of giving us the same special features over and over again.

I thought the twin towers were also going to be in the movie? If you look closely, you can see the twin towers in the reflection of Spider-Man's eye at the end of the city montage sequence.

I can understand the feelings at that time,but I hate how once the towers fell everyone(not just Spider-man)took them off posters and off tv programs and movies. I would've kept them in as a tribute to the towers and those who were lost. But,you can still see them in the distance during the final swing.

I will always love Raimi's Spider-Man movies.

I remember when I first saw the trailer on the internet. I almost crapped my pants with excitement. I think I watched it 40 000 times every day.

And I can't even begin to describe the good feeling I had when I finally saw the movie with my mother and cousin. Spider-Man 2 was even better. I really miss those summer days...

I even like Spider-Man 3. It's not that bad...

I will share a cool story with you guys, since I think the people in here would appreciate it most.

Up until a few months ago, I was an ADR mixer in LA (recently relocated home to Canada) and Mr. Molina came in to record a few lines. SM2 is my favorite film of ALL time and the reason I discovered a passion for film sound. I also have a full Raimi Spider-Man sleeve on my right arm complete with massive Spidey/MJ and a big Molina Ock on my forearm. Needless to say, I was freaking out but tried to keep cool and professional.

The session was to be done with the director over Skype since he was in another city, so it would just be Alfred and myself in the LA studio. He showed up 15 minutes early and we ended up getting to chat for about 45 minutes (director was late to link up with us). He was the nicest guy you could ever imagine and we shot the s**t about movies and all kinds of random stuff before I got the courage to tell him how much SM2 meant to me and how it played such a huge role in my life. Alfred was incredibly humble and said the film put his kids through college! I even showed him my Doc Ock piece and he was a bit taken aback by seeing his likeness on my forearm, but said he was flattered. Hope he didn't think I was too much of a nut. t:

Anyways, we finally shot the session and he was out of there. But it was such a great experience to meet someone who was such a major part of the Raimi saga and have such a cool story to recount.

That should always happen. Man, people are enjoying the hell out of Batman & Robin. Why not SM3?
