8 years ago today Spider-Man 3 was released. Still have my ticket stub next to me.

Good memory or bad?

A good memory for me overall, but also bittersweet.

One of those movies I can still enjoy even with all it's frustrating problems.

Don't think I was ever more hyped for a movie and followed it's news so closely. Dark Knight came close, but not quite. Good times.

I came here today to celebrate this.
It was my favorite Spidey movie for a while, then the first became my favorite.

Wow! Spider-Man 3. I was so hyped for that film. I remember that I was in High School, my parents were driving me home from a friends house, and then in the radio they announced a contest that the first people to go to a certain mall with a drawing of Spider-Man would win tickets for the midnight showing.

My dad was driving and more or less ocurred the following exchange. He told me "Do you want to go?" I said, "Well, I don't know". "Do you?" He replied. I said "Well... I" And then he said "We're going!" And he turned to the mall. My mother throw me an envelope and a pen. "Quick! Start drawing!"

The worst Spider-Man drawing the world have ever seen was done by me in that moment. We arrived at the mall, and I ran to the place of the event. I reached to the radio guys. "Do you still have tickets?" They replied. "Do you have the drawing?". I showed the Spider-Man drawing. They gave me the most unimpressed look ever, and they said "OK, here's your ticket." I was thrilled!

They announced the next day they would be giving tickets again, with other conditions on the afternoon. After school I took the bus to the mall and stayed there with a backpack full of all the Spider-Man things I had, just in case they asked for something alike. I walked in the mall for hours listening to a the radio in an old walk-man.

I was tired and my look was, I don't know, "homeless-ish". Then the announcement came, they were now in a coffee shop. I ran as fast as I could, and as I arrived they asked me for the names of the coffee's in the menu. I read them from the panel they had, and they gave me more tickets! They asked me awkwardly "Did you stayed here to sleep or something?". "Something, something!".

I had to buy extra tickets because I went with all my family. However, I left the cinema disappointed. The movie wasn't what I expected, and what was given left much to desire. But the ticket hunting experience was great!

Can't believe it's been so long already. Happy anniversary to Spider-Man 3.

I still remember my first time seeing it. Loved it then, still like it now. :yay:

GREAT memory for me. Although, over the years I've come to see some of the films flaws,I have always and will always love it. Like most here, this was the most anticipated movie of my life. I followed this movie like a religion. I'll never forget how happy I was to see it finally arrive in theaters. I went to the midnight showing and saw it 6 times after that.

Funny little scene, but I still don't get why the shutters are on the outside, and not the inside. :funny:

Overall, good memory (even though I definitely felt the disappointment when I first saw it).

I will never get as hyped for a movie as I did with Spider-Man 3.

A little of both. My college roommate was getting married the next day, but he insisted that we take time out of the festivities to see the movie. That was really sweet, and I liked that his wife understood our love of comics enough to not object.

The movie as a whole wasn't bad. It's still the weakest of the 5 Spidey films, but it has more positives than negatives. The scene with Harry's death was very moving and a satisfying end to that multi-film arc.

Of course, there was VINO. I openly booed when Blowpher first showed his goofy face on screen. For the rest of the day, my buddy who is a huge Joker fan, taunted me with "I got Jack Nicholson. You got that goofy little dweeb." 8 years later, I get voice messages that say, "I got Nicholson and Ledger. You got Blowpher." :csad: :woot:

Makes you wonder how different things would have been had Raimi been allowed to make the Spider-Man 3 he wanted and it came out on par with the first two, and then we'd have had a Spider-Man 4 guaranteed down the line from there?

To celebrate the 8th anniversary of Spider-Man 3, I'm playing the game again.
Still my favorite Spidey game.
For what it's worth, I'm glad the PS2 version is not the Treyarch game, felt better to buy two new games instead of two copies of the same game, and I personally was not disappointed by the lesser game of the two.

I adore all three of these movies, and I think Raimi is a genius in general.

I never hated SM3, but I do understand where people are coming from when it comes to some of the criticisms. That being said, it felt (tonally) just like 1 & 2, so it's weird for me to trash one without trashing the others. Tobey played the same loveable dork the same way in all three films, there was the same cheese, the same camp, the same humor, so I don't get it.

We can agree that the Emo and Jazz Club stuff was too much, but that's pretty much the only (minor) issue I had.

As far as Venom not getting enough screen time, I feel that way about pretty much every villain in every superhero film, lol. Two-Face got the same injustice in The Dark Knight.

I miss this trilogy and I'm feeling particularly nostalgic at the moment. I'm sat in my desk chair, browsing these forums and, listening to the Main Title theme over and over again.

I'm one of the last generations, I think, to watch the original Spider-Man series as I'm sixteen but when I once went on a visit to a primary school, to teach them all about creative writing, they'd never heard of the original Spider-Man films! I was so surprised!

These days, it's Andrew Garfield this and Andrew Garfield that - well, not so much recently - but everyone has forgotten about the classic Tobey Maguire.

That's why where here, to appreciate the classics.
Welcome to the boards.

but everyone has forgotten about the classic Tobey Maguire.

Not everyone. The current buzz may be about the new Spider-Man/Marvel take over, but Raimi's movies will never be forgotten, IMO. Especially the first two movies. Particularly 2.

Yep, I still love the hell out of them and Spiderman 2 is still in my top 5.

My experience with SM3 was actually pretty positive, from the moment I first watched It became my favorite film of trilogy, there was so much to love about it and I rewatched it a lot(its probably my most watched Spider-Man film).

It wasn't until a few years later that I realized about all the hate against the film and it was from that point that I started noticing how flawed the movie was and the more I realized about this the more I appreciated Spider-Man 2. Ultimately I still like SM3 and its a pretty underrated film but there is no doubt that it pales in comparision with the first 2.

And still the highest critically rated CBM along with TDK. Quite an achievement.

I also think it's the only CBM to win an Oscar for the special fx.

Spider-Man 2 had the only 'competitive' Visual Effects win for a CBM, but Superman: The Movie was awarded it as a Special Achievement Award. This was not abnormal prior to the 1990s.
