the official jarv thread

Hey jarv, dont mean to sound like another fan jumping on the nads, but really... in this dark corner of the net, you're a living legend. I cant really describe the feeling of seeing yor first post, so im not even gonna try to explain. From a true admirer, ill like to say thanks for stopping by and giving us some insight for the upcoming series, im sure Diamond comics is gonna be sold out of the first copy , but hey... It'll be just the fans thats has been knocking on Vengeance door for damn near 10yrs, so the next time you go into the office, tell the powers that be ( Marvel ) we said thanks.

I'll be waiting for the trade of the first story, not because I'm not interested in getting the book straight away (which i want to), i just want to read it all in one-go.
I'm also waiting for that recent mini to come out as a softcover trade.... hmmmm.

hey every body,
thanks for the kind words.
things are going well. on gr no.4 now.
came back from heroes con last weekend.
had a blast. the verdict is in. this gr thing is gonna be nuts!
it's getting me all excited. looking forward to your reactions.
take care and watch the roads.
jarv

Thanks for poppin' by Jarv! On number 4 now are ya? Too bad we have to wait 4 months to see what you probably have next to you right now. Grrr.

Thanks for stopping by man.

Im glad the worlds got a good buzz about the GR comic. I've already got my subscription.

:ghost:

hey,
thank you all.
no kidding. hope you enjoy the ride!
vrooom, vrooom!
jarv

I was really impressed by the evolution of the art, just when i think that GR skull can't be displayed better, that the lighting/shadowing can't be sharper, more defined and solid, that the panels can't be more cinematic you two guys surpass yourselves.
Thanks, true hellfire burns again.

Congrats on a superb 1st issue Jarv...you and Tex are a great combo.
reading that issue made me feel like it was 1991 all over again :D

It's too bad we couldn't rename this thread as the official Jarv thread or something...

Anyhoo, Jarv, we heard some rumblings about there being a plan for issue 94 of the 90's run and I'm wondering if you could (or are allowed to) shed some light on what that plan may be... or if it's even true.

thanks fh for the heads up.
honestly never thought about doing this.
as for your question, all i can say is marvel did ask
me for the pages back on issue no. 94.
if they're actually going to do it, your guess is as good as mine.
btw, just a shout out to all you gr heads. gr is doing well
and we're expecting graet things to happen.
thanks in large part to you fans. thanks again
jarv

LoL. I cracked when I seen this thread started. I only mentioned it cuz the other thread wasn't really open to all topics but, it sure is awesome that you check this place often enough to see the posts we make and you definitely deserve your own thread. Scratch that, you deserve a shrine or something. After all, you did help turn a lot of us (me included) on to Ghost Rider with your artwork.

Anyhoo, enough kissin' ass (though it is genuine. I mean everything I say) and on to replyin' about issue 94. Is that why you never got back to us about selling the artwork after? I've been waiting forever to try and get a piece of that work but, it looks like such things won't be possible now that Marvel gobbled it back up. Of course, now it looks like there is a possiblity that we'll get it anyway... if these 'plans' do indeed unfold.

Great things are already happening, as far as I see it. It sure is a great time to be a Ghost Rider fan. It makes the past 8 years of waiting for a new comic, movie and everything else worth it. It was tough but, persistance and patience pays off in the end.

We are the luckiest fans of all. I hope everyone realizes that. No other character has not only the director of the upcoming movie chatting here but also one of the best artists to ever touch our character as well. Its incredible.

Thanks for being here. It means more than you can ever know.

lol for some reason I thought why would someone post about the Avenger's Jarvis in a GR movie thread? lol
I kid Jarv I kid, Glad to see another of the artists keeping in touch with the fans.

I´ve read some rumors about the # 94 at Newsarama and even post it in these threads.
Coolest news ever.
But now an official word of Javier Saltares?!
Crazy, guys! Absolutelly.
Please, Mr.Saltares, try everything to do it.
Kidnap Stan The Man Lee if necessary!!! :)
Just kidding..., or not...
It was one of the saddest days of my entire life when GR was cancel on feb, 98. Worst, without an ending!
How disrespectful! Us, fans who follow the character for 93 months?
Damn Marvel at the time.
Just when Saltares would return to clean up the mess that the title art would become, they finish it, without any explanations.
Sad, very sad.
But, it´s the past. Quesada arrives and saves the House of Ideas.
We´re waiting with high hopes, Jarv. Do it!
It´s one of my dreams to know the fate of GR:NETHERLORD!
Wow...
One question: if the issue comes to life, Ivan Velez Jr. will be the writer?
It would be cool, because he starting the final saga. It would be fair.
Anyway, thanx a lot for posting and congrats for the awesome work.
:ghost:  :)

I forgot to mention, if you do happen to find out anything about #94 (perhaps even dig around, hehe) be sure to let us know. Inquiring minds wanna know...

Well, since this is an official thread now...

::falls to his knees and bows to the master::

I'M NOT WORTHY!

Umm... yeah, just had to do that.

As FA said, tell us if you find anything out about ish $94. Some of us have bugged Marvel for years about it.

Also, since you are on the inside at Marvel, do you know if they have a Comics in the Classroom type program? I couldn't find anything on the website.

hi guys,
hope all is well with all of you.
i will ask and see what's up with the missing issue.
if they let me, i'll get you up to speed, if not,
i'll let you know i can't say.
promise. hows that. fair enough?
jarv
till then, keep the engines in idle.

Jarv, thanks for stopping by again!

I was wondering if there is a possibility for you to draw one more picture of the Spirit of Vengeance with his old bike and costume for us fans of the series you made a legend. I would gladly buy it!

Well, I certainly have to drop in and give my Jarv fanboy shoutout here!

Let me just say, Mr. Saltaires, that you and tex have certainly outdone yourselves with the art on the new ongoing. You've both matured greatly as artists since you first brought GR back in the early nineties, and I think that the new stuff is your greatest work ever.

I think publishing #94 will be a very diplomatic move on the part of Marvel, showing that they're 100% into making the character successful again. I may even forgive some of the hiccups the series had late in the game (Devil Dinosaur? Howard the Duck?) Maybe. Maybe not.:cwink:

In any case, keep up the awesome work, and hope to keep hearing from ya!

Well Jarv, according to the letters page of the current issue, we indeed will be getting issue #94. Well, plans are in the works anyway. Good stuff!

I'm now wondering if it'll be changed at all...

I'm hoping they tweak the script. Did not like what I read at all last year.

I say stick to the scrip and give us BacK what we possessed for so long.

any long time GR fan can agree the 90s series was ending in a bad way...got way too out there and convoluted. having saying that though im just happy we are getting the final issue in that series....good or bad. just to finally get some closure on it is great.
and who knows? since both Tex and Saltares are back on the job it would be very very easy to add just 2 more pages to the original final issue to dovetail it into the previous mini and current series. will be interesting to see either way

hi guys,
i'm sorry i didn't get back sooner.
wrapping up iss. 5 now.
haven't seen iss. 2 yet.but will talk to axel
and get the lowdown on iss,94 as promised.
hope you guys are enjoying what your seeing from
dan, mark, and myself.
please feel free to flood editorial with your letters and e-mails
and let us know. as we conclude this arc and prepare to
move into the next one, i remain possitively jazzed
with what happening with gr. no kidding. we are all riding a hell
of a wave over here. an artistic person is always searching for
that "place" in his or her work. i've spoken with many fellow
creators in my time, and we eventually get around what it means to find that "place".
tex and i always use to call it the "wow" effect.
it happens when your done with something, whatever, and all of a sudden
it's not yours anymore. all of a sudden, your a fan. looking at it for the first time and find yourself saying "WOW"!
dan, tex and i have found ourselves doing that alot with this new series.
really, we're not patting ourselves on the back here.
i just wanted to share that with you to express how much fun WE"RE
having with the book.
having said that, thanks again to all you gr fans who most definitly
fuel the mythos that is GHOST RIDER!
sincerely
javier saltares

ps. that's gotta be the longest post i've written to date.
