Why not? Killing him off is just as controversial as introducing him in the first place. And entirely possible.

honestly, i want him dead or a super villain as well. but i honestly don't see the WB executing such an approach. i'm willing to bet that we'll see jason as a supervillain (which i'd like too) before we ever see jason killed.

i'd like one of three scenarios:

-jason dies
-jason becomes super villain
- richard becomes super villain and kidnaps him so that lex may research his DNA or something (that way he doesn't die, but he doesn't have any real screen time)

superman returns was a dark film, but there is no way jason is getting killed off. lol i'm willing to bet any amount of money. if he does get killed off...that'll honestly be the most surprising thing to ever happen in a comicbook movie for me.

All the reasons for bringing Jason into the film degrade the character of Superman. He never should've existed in the first place. IMO, the challenge of the next Superman film will be correcting all the mistakes that were made in Superman Returns. A good first step in that direction would be killing off Jason White. Not only because the character sucks, but it would also have a good dramatic effect on the film.

In Superman Returns, Superman found a connection in Jason, it symbolizes the legacy of Krypton living on - which of course if very important to Superman. Having that stripped away from him, plus Jason being the only family Superman has, would be a very interesting thing to see Superman go through. Plus, it would be a step closer to bring Superman back to his roots, which is always a good thing.

Who's with me?!

Kill him or make him a supervillain! If he doesn't become a supervillain, then destroy him!

How many movies have we seen a good guy like Richard (who seemed more like the protagonist in Superman Returns) go completely evil in the sequel? I'm not understanding how this is tired? I'm not talking about wobbling on the fence between good and evil...I'm talking about going completely evil and having extreme loath for the superhero. How often has this been done? And in what movies?

The closest thing I can think of is Anniken's transformation to Darth Vader (which wasn't executed greatly at all). Plus, Anniken was already kind of a rebel with lust for power (and he eventually redeemed his evil ways). Richard is your Grade A, All American Boyscout....going completely evil. How is that tired?
You act like you expect me to run through all of cinematic history or something.

Having a guy who was originally portrayed with some benevolence, only to later give him the qualities of a villain is hardly new in any media. Recently, you could look at Doc Ock or Sandman in the movies. Trying to separate it into degrees, claiming 'this guy wasn't as clean-cut as this one' doesn't really change it. It's still the same deal and stands out as unoriginal and lazy.

Beyond that turning Richard villain undercuts a good deal of what Richard represented in the first film. If he's truly all 'boy scout', he'd find another way of dealing with adverse circumstances than becoming evil. As much as a favorable response as Richard received in SR, do you really think people want to root against him?

Then Superman definately is a homewrecker and doesn't paint the character in a very good light.

That possibility is part of why I don't like this Supes/Lois/Richard triangle that's been created. With Jason biologically linked to Lois and Superman, I'm struggling to see a way to resolve this without it getting ugly (or resorting to someone's death). It's just a messy situation.

i agree with you to a certain degree...especially on how dramatic the outcome would be if it did happen, but him growing and learning his powers could serve as an interesting character

^ But then the movie becomes more about Jason and less about Superman. I do not see the benefit in this.

You have a good point. I'll give you that, but the villains you listed all redeemed themselves with good deeds in the end. And their transformation to the darkseid was a result of their desire to do something truly noble. Sandmand needed the money for his daughter. Dock Ock was trying to create a clean self-sustainable energy source to benefit humanity (and some of his behavior were influenced by his mechanical limbs). Richard's transformation would be a result of extreme jealousy and resentment. I can see the point you make, but I also ask you to see my point as well.

Dangit... I wanted a poll added to this but Internet Explorer gave me an error message and closed before I could finish it... anyone know how to add it to this thread? If not, no big deal...

yep ive been thinking that all along about what Richard is gonna do when he finds out....and he truely is a good guy to just turn evil, but what else are they gonna do besides kill him or make him bad?

well i was thinking later on in the future, that Jason would be growing up, and Supes showing him more and how to use his powers for good, then i guess having Supes die, and him take over.....and about the poll, i was trying start one with the Richard as an enemy but i dont how to lol

You know i had an idea that could work..

having Supes take the kid to the fortress and having the kids powers removed so he could have a normal life, but lex knows the kid is supes..the kid is kid knapped,,supes arrives to late to save his life.. Richard and lois blame superman,, and richard goes to lex not knowing he is responsible.. he asks LEX for help to kill superman..lex makes Richard into metallo...

Oh, I like that a lot. :yay: Yes, yes! Let richard embrace the darkseid!

^ Your interpretation of Jason's future sounds like it would be better suited as sort of a spin-off or a "what if" film. I guess if they wanted to make SuperBoy films, now they have a way how... :)

Well I like the part of Superman taking Jason's powers away.

I guess that'd work too... take the kid's powers away, have Lois break it off with Richard, and then we never hear from Richard or Jason again. that'd be nice.

Turning Richard or Jason into villians is a bad idea. Plain and simple.

you big meanie :csad:. whatever they do, i just hope they don't stick to the same formula we have now.

love triangle with richard and cute adorable kid with powers. it's old already and shouldn't have a place in future superman films.

^ Tell you what, make a spin-off parody movie called The Super-Whites, and then we'll talk. ;)
