All the reasons for bringing Jason into the film degrade the character of Superman. He never should've existed in the first place. IMO,

In Superman Returns, Superman found a connection in Jason, it symbolizes the legacy of Krypton living on - which of course if very important to Superman.

Its hilarious that you understand the signifiance of Jason while at the same time you dont.

I thought Superbaby's threads lacked common sense but seriously; they arent going to kill a little kid....

Its like the worst idea ever; next to turning Jason into some kinda supervillian :down

^ I see your point about killing a little kid in a movie that a lot of little kids are going to see, but you still fail to present any other type of resolution. I just want Jason & Richard out of the picture, I know they will be there in the sequel, but I want them written out somehow. I don't care how they do it, but by the end of Superman Returns 2, they need to be done and gone.

What What?

READ the official Jason thread; making this one was completely unnecessary and it might as well be closed.

I posted this there; dont like repeating stuff:

To make things simple, I'll outline some of the basic ideas for my story in point form:

- The story takes place two years following the events of Superman Returns.

- Perry White has retired and Richard is the new editor of the Daily Planet. The demanding nature of Richard's job is isolating him more and more from Lois and Jason. Lois is starting to feel uncomfortable with Richard as her boss at the Daily Planet.

- Superman has regained his public fame in the world and is currently investigating a conspiricy case in Metropolis where it is believed a rogue FBI Agent named Milton Fine is in a partnership with Morgan Edge's intergang (the reigning crime gang in Metropolis).

- Superman has forged a working friendship with Richard over the years. They often meet regularly for Superman to get inside information from Richard that he wouldnt be able to obtain as Clark Kent (regarding Milton Fine in this case).

- Superman now knows that Richard and Lois were intentionally trying to protect Jason all along by keeping the identity of his true father as a secret.

- Superman's investigations lead him to uncovering that intergang has possession of Kryptonian technology and weapons. They are building some kind of gateway.

- Supes takes on Intergang and confronts Morgan Edge. He discovers the humans are building a gateway to the Phantom Zone for whoever is supplying them with Kryptonian weapons and technology.

- FBI Agent Fine is identified to be the one supplying them and reveals to Superman that he is in fact Brainiac.

- Fine/Brainiac reveals that he transmitted information to a human contact 7 years ago that could be used to falsify Krypton's existence. When Superman travelled to Krypton, the main core of Brainiac downloaded itself into Superman's ship and then rebuilt itself on Earth upon Superman's Return. He has infiltrated the Govt and maintained a human identity ever since.

- Brainiac then reveals his origin to Superman. His program was secretly created by the Kryptonian council without Jor-El's knowledge as a weapon and tool to preserve Kryptonian hertiage. Brainiac (growing in knowledge and artificial intelligence) was eventually abadoned in space upon the planet's destruction until he was able to orchestrate Superman's arrival.

- Brainac plans to recreate Krypton on earth by eliminating the entire human race and using the stored DNA patterns in his system to begin cloning a Kryptonian civilization (as he was programmed to do). He orders Superman to begin the process by murdering Jason (as Jason's blood isnt pure Kryptonian).

- Superman refuses and Brainiac unleashes an animal creature of pure violence from the Phantom Zone; Doomsday.. on Metropolis.

n48909880_32949020_7558.jpg

- Superman fights Doomsday in a bloody battle to protect the city while the US govt discover a weapon that Agent Fine planted in the White House. It has Kryptonian text counting down and appears to be some kind of weapon that could wipe the entire population of Earth off the surface when it blows.

- Doomsday heads towards Jasons school to hunt him down. The school is attacked though Jason is safe thanks to Superman. After a bloody battle, Superman injures Doomsday severly as Doomsday escapes into the ocean. Superman's suit is ripped and torn apart.

- . Lois and Richard realize they need to get Jason out of Metropolis to safety. Clark offers that all four of them go back to his home in Smallville where they will be safe. Richard tells Jason and Lois to go while he stays behind at the Planet as many citizens begin to flood out of Metropolis after the Doomsday attack.

- The US defense dept and the President realize there is only one man who can help them deactivate this weapon with Superman now MIA (believed to be killed by Doomsday); Lex Luthor. The President coerces Luthor to help in exchange for a pardon of past crimes. Luthor agrees and reveals that concentrated Kryptonite can de-power this type of Kryptonian crystal weapon as he learned about this in the Fortress with Jor-El. Luthor begins to synthesize meteor rocks into Kryptonite using his technology and research from Superman 1.

- In Smallville, Martha meets Lois, Jason and Clark at the Kent Farm. She starts to notice how Jason reminds her of young Clark as we see some flashbacks from her prespective of Clark's childhood.

- Clark tells Martha that his Superman suit [that he got from the Fortress years ago] was torn apart. Martha then reveals that she kept the blankets that Clark was wrapped in as a baby, made from a material as strong as his suit, and can use them to try to help mend his costume.

- Lois begins to snoop around at the Kent farm looking at old photos. She is shocked to see that Clark had a highschool girlfriend and a life in Smallville. She begins to realize that there was much more to him than she thought.

family-photo1.jpg

- Eventually she realizes that he is Superman afterall and confronts Clark. They have an emotional discussion about why Clark had to keep this from her (reminiscent of Batman 1989 with Bruce and Vicky).

- Doomsday recovers and appears again in Metropolis as Clark reveals that he must go back to stop him. Before he flies off, Martha hands him his suit; with the cape now made of the brighter red blanket material from the ship with a yellow \S/ on the back.

- They fight as Doomsday drives Superman into the Daily Planet building and begins to tear it apart. Superman saves Jimmy, Richard and the other civilians as Doomsday continues his rampage.

- Lex places his newly made Kryptonite control key onto the explosive device and depowers it.

- Fine/Brainiac, furious at this development, sends the New Krypton landmass in space hurdling towards earth. The speed at which its travelling breaks NK apart as the first wave of meteors smash into Metropolis. Superman, in an attempt to escape Doomsday's clutches to save the city, drives Doomsday into one of the larger meteors crashing down towards Metropolis and the creature is killed on impact. Superman then takes to the skies to destroy the rest. Brainiac follows Superman into space to stop him.

supermanreturns2.jpg

- Superman eventually overpowers Brainiac and sends him and the NK landmass into the sun.

- Weeks pass as the city starts to rebuild.

- Lex, given the President's support, begins to build Lexcorp (advanced defence against future attacks). Superman confronts Lex where Lex reveals that he was the one that Brainiac transmitted to 7 years ago. Luthor was the one that placed the false evidence to drive Superman to Krypton. Lex reveals that he knows that Jason White is Superman's son and threatens harm to the boy if Superman interferes with his business. Superman is furious but realizes theres nothing he can do to stop Luthor within the law and vows to one day make him pay for his crimes.

lex-front.jpg

- Lex then secretly tells Kitty that he isnt after money, but immortality and ultimate knowledge. He says he believes that only Fine was killed and the core computer of Brainiac is still intact somewhere on Earth. He intends to find it using Lexcorp's resources.

- Clark tells Lois about Luthor's threat against Jason and she comes to an important decision. She tells Richard that they need to move to Smallville, it would be the best and safest thing for Jason now that Lex is gaining power over Metropolis. Richard knows that he is needed in Metropolis, to rebuild the Daily Planet. He can't leave but painfully decides to let Lois go (thinking of Jason's best interests). Unsure of when Lois would return, Richard and Lois decide to break off the engagement.

- Richard and Lois say their goodbyes as Clark, Lois and Jason head for the plane to Kansas.

- Back in Smallville, Jason is now enrolled in a new school under the alias "Conner Kent" so Lex Luthor can't track him and begins a new life.

- The film ends with Lois and Clark deciding to tell Jason about Krypton and his heritage as Martha watches.

- Clark, now temporarily based in Smallville, as his home and work in Metropolis is gone, heads to the skies as Superman to listen for trouble and save those who need him.

eh, no need to kill him off... just send him off to boarding school.

My apologies for making you repeat that, but it sounds like enough plot there for at least two movies. Not a bad thing, but it's highly unlikely the film makers will use your outline. No offense.

yep ive been thinking that all along about what Richard is gonna do when he finds out....and he truely is a good guy to just turn evil, but what else are they gonna do besides kill him or make him bad?

Its easy, Richard realizes Lois cares about him, but she loves superman to much. He being the guy he is, accepts that they can't continue to pretend anymore. He packs his bags, and after a emotional talk with Lois, he bids her farewell, and leaves quitely.superman sees all this from a distance, but does not go and comfort Lois just yet, and leaves her to cry.

Batman Begins would look even longer than that if you mapped it out the same way I did.

It isnt too much plot; Edge = Falcone, Doomsday = Scarcrow, Brainiac = Ras Al Gual

you have to realize doomsday require alot more work then scarecrow did. Batmans villians are humans, a character like doomsday would require alot of money and work.

and then we dont see him again, or what?

That actually plays much more into what we've seen of Richard's character. Besides, it's not as if he's really integral. He's there to heighten this messy family situation and the sooner it's resolved the better. Although having to explain to Jason why Daddy is leaving is problematic is its own right. God, this whole thing is goofy. Jason just should be have been from a prior relationship of Richard's.

The chances are extremely remote that Jason will be killed....as a child. Putting a child in to a possible life threatening situation is hard enough for people to take in a family movie.....but to actually allow him to die would be the death knell for the movie. Once parents found out that a kid who is a main chatacter gets killed, they wouldn't bring their kids. But if he was transformed in some way (ala Spock in ST:TSFS) and happened to die in a heroic way, then they may be more inclined to attend.

They can also incorporate the rapid aging scenerio into the story without having him die....thus leading to several other possible future storylines. He could have to be put into suspended animation to save him from dying from the aging, he could mutate and lose his powers, he could become a super villian, or become some new superhero.

Money obviously; but that has nothing to do with storyline (more to do with budget) but if they handle Doomsday how I did; like an action villian from the Phantom Zone....hes easy to handle storywise.

Those scenarios are way too 'out there' for the universe Bryan established for this character.

The most likely scenario at the end of these films is Superman married to Lois and raising Jason; the family Superman always wanted (in pretty much all incarnations this is all hes ever wanted). Torturing Jason like you guys suggest would really accomplish nothing but put Superman and Lois through more pain and sadness.

yea you are right

Neither does giving him an illegitimate child. Yet another reason to kill off Jason.
I'd just like to say that giving Kirk an illegitimate child in TWoK was a brilliant move in hindsight, because it made the character more flawed, more... human.

That he was killed off later is irrelevant (not to mention I feel, in hindsight, that it is a bit of a cop-out). Not to mention unoriginal.

And that is why I'd like to see something done with Jason such that he doesn't actually turn evil, or get killed. Tension between him and Supes, yes (ditto for Richard), but killing either of them, or turning them evil...

It is a cliche. And yes, Anakin is perhaps the only other example of a good person turned bad that comes to mind easily, but it has been proposed so often by the same people (ad nauseum) that it has lost any creative edge and originality.

Don't like Jason? Thats fine. Just be more original than "Lets kill him".

The idea that he should rapid-age... I can't really see it happening, although I do certainly put it in the "more original" category (that means "good job, I like it").

And with regards to Singer and SR, yes there was the financial imperative. But Singer sees things a certain way, and when he is happy with how it looks, he says "OK, its ready for release". Its how pretty much all artists work.

Because of Jason's Human/Kryptonian genetics; his powers shouldnt really manifest themselves naturally; (his ability in SR manifested itself only under extreme stress)

Aside from that; they should focus on resolving the issues between Superman and Lois first; and fixing their relationship.

There isnt much I want to see done with Jason till hes a teenager; then theres a good opportunity to pull up some cool storylines right from the comics.

I think they can handle both jason, and the superman/lois relationship. I guess I'm one of the few who didn't mind the whole superman son idea.. I really don't care if they weren't married or deadbeat dad. Lois knew who the father was you think she was gonna tell anyone. She and jason would of gotten plastered 24/7 by media/military..It would of done more harm than good to tell ppl who Jason really was.
I think the jason issue can be good or bad depending on what path they take with it. I hope they develop him well during the movie. I also hopin they will tie the 3rd installment(if there is one) with Jason taking over the role as protector of earth. As I wouldn't mind him goin somewhat evil or rebellious in second movie, and coming around in the 3rd..

"Out there"? Singer has made this universe no less fantasy-based than Donner did. I really don't get why people around here think that serious movies and fantasy movies have to be mutually exclusive.

I propose Lois Lane tells Richard the truth. That she truly does love Superman and that Jason is actually Superman's kid. Why would Richard stick around after that?

Because at Jason's age it would be a horrible thing for the only father he's ever known to leave like that. But, does Lois really love Superman more than Richard? Is he love for Superman more important to her than what is best for her son? Will she discuss with Superman and Richard what is best for their son? Jason will have 3 parents, it's just going to depend on how involved they all are in Jason's life.

I just dont see them killing Clark Kent Jr. This kid will play a major role no matter what. Be it a kidnapping or possesed by Brainiac or Mxy, he will be a part of the sequel. There is no way of ridding us of Junior aside from total reboot which probably aint happenin.

There's always the whole "SR was a Mxy or Braniac manipulating reality" and then the sequel reveals what is 'really' going on. It's like a reboot w/o a reboot.

Anybody have any ideas of how Superman can be a father to Jason?

NOt really, it doesn't seem really feasable until he's old enough to learn that SUperman is his dad and needs guidance for his developing powers. That story would be 7 years or so out from the end of SR. That would seems like a strange place to go for the sequel, that's a lot of time.
