The Official Lanterns News & Discussion Thread

I just feel Black Hand makes sense for random murders in a Lanterns tv series. I could be way off on that. Still think Sam Witwer would make a good Black Hand too.

I think maybe torwards the end of Superman, Guy has a more toned down hair style along with a more traditional GL suit/jacket. Or they keep the bowlcut, I'm not mad either way.

So would Parallax. The murderer is his own partner/mentor and the golden boy of the GLC.

I don't like the idea of it. But it all comes down to execution, maybe they can make me like it. Definitely wasn't a fan of the way they handled it in the last GL animated film.

Perhaps. I just think there’s something very Lynchian about a very heavy, grounded scene taking place and then in walks a character with the dumbest hair you’ve ever seen.

The thought of it does make me laugh for real lol!

Did Gunn confirm Guy would be on the show? The show is about two Laterns investigating a murder in the heartlands not three.

I feel like everyone is under the assumption that it won’t be a major role. After all, Fillion has a show of his own to be making.

I think Gunn said Fillion would be in multiple projects as Guy. I've seen recent reports saying he would be in Lanterns, but can't remember where the reports originated from.

Yeah lots of reports about Lobo showing up in Superman and Supergirl. Let’s relax and enjoy the moment.

Not Gunn himself but that DCUleaks guy said months ago that he has a 2-3 episode guest spot and Variety just said on the trailer press day that he’d be reprising his role in Lanterns.

EDIT: just checked and Variety said he’s “expected” to reprise his role on Lanterns. So not definite but likely.

I mean, I feel like when the first movie up gives a role to one of the Green Lanterns and then that movie is followed relatively closely behind by a GL show, it’s not the biggest leap in the world to think there might end up being some crossover there.

I keep forgetting, isn't this supposed to be a darker, grittier take on the Lanterns? I remember hearing how it's supposed to be like Green Lanterns x True Detective? Is there any truth to that, or am I going insane?

That was my understanding too.

With the True Detective reference being one of the few pieces of information we had, I 100% expect the series to be quite dark...
In fact, even taking Lindelof out of the equation, I would still imagine it being in a similar vein as the Watchmen TV show.

Yep! And Chris Mundy from Ozark.

------

About Guy Gardner's look, personally, I have no problem imagining him popping up here with his bowl haircut.
He's supposed to look silly whatever the setting, and there are lots of ways to film the same character and make him exist on screen anyway... I mean, you can do a lot even just by changing the way to light a person, etc.

I never lose.

Can't wait until filming starts for this... Getting so close!

I’m curious who else will be directing this beyond James Hawes. Particularly if any of the names the scoopers suggested (Sean Durkin, Stephen Williams, etc.) have any legitimacy.

Not sure if anyone else saw those Lanterns leaks on the reddit that got removed rather quickly... I only peaked at the first episode, but it had me intrigued! It could turn out to be just a rumor/fake... but I could see it being legit too.
