The Official Lanterns News & Discussion Thread

^ Guy walks in with the little Jacket on, someone say's "looks like you got a little CGI on you there" Guy wipes off the jacket "ewww gross did I get it all?"

So excited about a high profile big budget for the GL franchise. The premise is great, and even though maybe I won't see John in the show, I'll have Alan Scott, my 2nd favorite Lantern.

I guess that, for the huge and rich universe of the GL mythos, a show like that might work even better than a movie. Or it could be a build up for something even bigger.

Geoff Johns & Co are responsible for me getting into comics heavily. After reading GL: Rebirth, I bought almost all of Johns work on GL at the time. I'm excited to see this series and possible new movie.

I still think Alan Richtson would have made a great Guy Gardner tho.

It will be interesting to see if the WarnerMedia/Discovery merger will have any effect on GLC. I'm hearing a lot of theories, none of which can have any foundation at this point, but these kind of shakeups can lead to both positive and negative events for big projects like GLC. Time will tell.

Now that Guy and Alan are cast, the only characters left that haven’t been cast yet are:

Bree Jarta(who’s an original character).
Simon Baz
Jessica Cruz
Kilowog
Sinestro

As stated before, Hal and John will not be appearing in this show (at least not in the first season) because they will be in the Green Lantern: Corps movie. So we shouldn’t expect any casting for them.

Curious what this will look like, because something tells me he won’t be “homaging” the aesthetics of Green Lantern here like he did with Man of Steel for S&L. :hehe:

That is a good question. I got to think the budget for this is going to be pretty substantial so hopefully it will look great. We know so little at this point it is hard to even guess what this will be similar too or what will be referenced.

I’d be fine with borrowed aesthetics. I’m not sure what the budget is for this show, but I’d be fine with the 2011 movie quality effects as long as the writing is good.

Of course we won't know the exact numbers, but we do have them on record saying it's the most expensive DC TV show to date, so yeah, it should be able to look pretty darn good.

I have no problems with borrowed aesthetics either (I adored the S&L pilot), but I just wonder in this case what they'd be borrowed from, since GL2011 wasn't exactly...aesthetically pleasing, lol.

Maybe some sort of Thor/Guardians of the Galaxy aesthetics?

That would be great. I'd wouldn't want them to try to go all ~dark and gritty~ with Green Lantern of all properties. I want Ch'p! :argh:
I doubt they’re going down that road. WB has had trouble with DC properties for a while but I don’t think they’re that stupid anymore. Generally speaking they’ve been good lately with tone.

Considering he’s had his feet in both Berlanti/DC stuff and HBO shows, I had been wondering if it would end up being David Nutter. But with him doing the whole season of The Time Traveler’s Wife, it makes sense that it wouldn’t be.

No complaints about Krieger, though. He directed the hell out of the Superman and Lois pilot. His other stuff has been great too. Riverdale eventually took a turn for pure ****ery, but I love that pilot.
