Funny, I brought up Tom Hanks pre SR and people didn't want him because he would be like Gene Hackman's Lex :D Didn't Spacey come off as Hackman's Lex anyways :p

Just thought of this.... what if Nolan and Co. would cast his Inception star Leonardo DiCaprio as Lex?

What would u guys think of that?

The only way Tom Hanks would do a "Hackman Lex" is if the director told him to.

Fortunately, Bryan Singer is H-I-S-T-O-R-Y.

I'm gonna think outside the box here and I fully expect to get blasted for it, but such is life...
Denzel Washington or Laurence Fishburne.

I never blast anyone for thinking outside of the box. Those are some good choices. :yay:

No thanks to Fishburne. It wouldn't come across as him doing anything he hasn't done before.

Denzel? Yeah, that guy would make you think Lex Luthor could intimidate even a Superman.

both great actors and i would love to see them, if they ever did want to go with a black lex. But after the way duncan was for fans and folks with kingpin i doubt studios want to make a move like that again.

Zachary Quinto perhaps? another I had in mind is Thomas Jane, and if you want the ''eyes of a killer'', Sean Penn.
This next guy I have been suggesting for Edge, but the more I think about it, the more I see him as Lex instead, Ian McShane

I'm still feeling Michael C. Hall here.

My fallback though is and always will be Jason Isaacs. The man oozes evil.

Leo, Depp, Mortensen, day-Lewis, Isaacs. any of those would make me happy.
With Leo being in inception, I think we have a real shot at him being in Superman ( fingers crossed )

I want character development for Lex. I want him to start as a good guy who slowly turns evil because he gets obsessed and will do anything to achieve his goals. I want to feel some sympathy for him. If they cast Isaacs in the role, he'd look evil from the get go.

that would be a good angle to go with lex, him either truly a good guy that goes evil, or he thinks he is a good guy but is all evil through and through.

timothy olyphant. great villian in Die Hard. bald head worked for hitman.

i still wish they did a better job with Spacey. he just seemed perfect for the charismatic yet ruthless CEO of a company

I want Lex to think he IS the good guy and that Superman is wrong.

 Lex Luthor: Man of Steel. A Great Read, and I highly recommend

:yay:

I've been saying that needs to be used as source material myself. It should be used in the same way Killing Joke was used for the Joker in TDK.

That's only if you let his slight typecasting get in the way. If the script and direction follows what you've suggested, I think Isaacs is more than capable of evoking the right aura to give Lex that sense of pathos.

James Purefoy would be a pretty good "love-to-hate" Lex.

What could Lex's motivation be? His idol was Alexander The Great in Smallville, and I liked that. He strived for that control and rule. But he did so because Lionel called him after Alexander, and that influence was set into his mind...But if Lex is more closer to the comics,he was born in the Slums.

I guess an influence could be, since a child, he has dreamed of acquiring the power to make Metropolis a better city, and he works his way up. Eventually developing a God complex, after making Metropolis a greater city. He has the World's best interests at heart, having the dream of total power by becoming President,

His hate for Superman could be based on both jealousy and a belief that Superman will take over the World, starting with HIS city.

Lexcorp should be like OCP in RoboCop and Umbrella in Resident Evil, owning and controlling EVERYTHING in that city and being almost as powerful as the Government. With a clean image on the surface, but with extreme dirt underneath, with the claim of humanity's best interest...

He is a good actor and i really like him, but even if he pulls off the good guy at first (hard to do after having been typecasted for evil roles so many times), once he turns evil, there will be no remorse. His face is just too sinister when he plays the bad guy.

When Lex has those classic talks with Superman, he must have some points right, we are supposed to feel some sympathy for him. Like the Devil (god i watch too much Supernatural :hehe:) he is evil but if you let him, he can convince you that he's just a misunderstood good guy.
