DIRECTOR, is that you? :woot:

What about Ryan Gosling as a possible Lex Luthor candidate?

He has the range.

No, Ryan Gosling should play a hero of some sort. Like The Flash.

(Keep in mind, Ryan mentioned RECENTLY that he wouldn't oppose in doing a superhero movie. He's going back on his word when he turned down Green Lantenr)

See this, folks? Welcome to Bizarro World!

Glad to hear there's a lot of support here for Rhys Meyers. I really don't think the fact that he was in "The Tudors" with Cavill would really make much of a difference to the producers if he turns out to be the best actor for the job.

Nolan tapped his "Inception" cast members Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (and apparently Marion Cotillard too) for "The Dark Knight Rises." And in the first sequel, Heath Ledger's Joker blew up Maggie Gyllenhaal, the sister of his cowboy lover in "Brokeback Mountain." Speaking of which, Liam Neeson (Ra's Al Ghul) and Cillian Murphy (Scarecrow) starred together in "Breakfast on Pluto" after doing "Batman Begins."

And Kevin Spacey (Lex Luthor) and Kate Bosworth (Lois Lane) starred together in three movies in a row, "Beyond the Sea," "Superman Returns" and "21," all back to back. They probably enjoy working together and in fact I remember reading that it was Spacey who recommended Bosworth for the role of Lois Lane.

I think the fact that Rhys Meyers is Irish can only help him seeing as how Nolan seems to prefer classically trained thespians ...
Yes he would be perfect. I just finished the last season of the tudors and both his and cavills work on that series was brilliant, they had amazing character arcs and showed growth in ways that was truly moving and amazing. They have such good chemistry, a chemistry I personally believe would translate perfectly to Lex's and supermans rivalry.

I concur with Myers as Lex . I like the idea of younger , hungry Lex who like Cavill is also in his prime as opposed to the older buisnessman from STAS, L&C, and the comics. In fact , I find it a much more interesting dynamic that the two young men would be of the same generation and be polar opposites as opposed to the Older man vs New Kid dynamic of previous verisons. Plus, Cavill and Myers already have great chemistry and play off of each other very well. Hopefully WB is reading these posts.Lol.

This sums it up perfectly. I really hope they go the younger route, and hopefully attribute lex the depth he deserves as a character. Lex Luthor man of steel was such a great tribute to what makes lex and his ideologies so human and believable even if the things he does aren't.

i would love for Myers to tackle the role, but something tells me that him not being American and having already acted opposite Cavill might actually prevent him from being considered. i hope that's not the case but Hollyweird likes to pull crap like that...

I think Lex could still be played by a foreign actor but I think the roles of Lois Lane, Jonathan Kent, and Perry White would benefit from an American actor.

Clark/Superman is an alien so contrary to silly reports, I always thought that opens up a wider range of actors.

Jor-el would probably benefit from being a Brit to match up with Superman casting and have them seem cohesive on screen.

Lex as an intelligent and charming foe that even has some of the public fooled? Gah, a Brit would be perfect ;)

A while back I thought Goss would be a good choice, but after watching Death Race 2 the other night (which should have been called Death Race -1 on account of it being a prequel) I changed my mind. Seeing him as a character other than a vampire or demon kind of ruined it for me - even though I was a huge sucker for the first DR.

I'll be damned I had the same experience :-o

Actually, I'd be okay with Zane as Luthor. That is, only if he looks like this -

With the rumors about Viggo being up for Zod, I can't help but think he'd be a better Lex.

I'd be happy with him as zod or lex. can someone manip that pic of him to make him bald?

YEAH BUT NO BUT YEAH BUT NO IF HE WORE DAT HE WOODN'T BE BALD ANYMORE AND THAT IS WHY I WANT HIM FOR TO PLAY ALEX LUTHRO COS HE IS BALD JUST LIKE LUTH LEXOR AND THAT MAKES HIM A GOOD CHOICE TO PLAY LKXLKXLXKLX LTHLTHLTHTLHERHRHRTRRHR YES :oldrazz:

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Luth Lexor... I can actually see DC using that name for a character in Superman at some point when they run out of "LL" names to use.

Anyway, just an idea I had... how about Matt Damon as Lex? I think he could pull it off. He's a very versatile actor and he play a coldblooded, Machiavellian bastard really well (The Departed, School Ties). I've been wanted to see him in a superhero film at some point, and he's a big name, so that might help.

^ Interesting choice. Unconventional picks sometimes work brilliantly.
