Write? Or spell?
Both. She should know both after all she is a reporter. That makes no sense that she can't spell. That's not how I see Lois and this is a Donner thing that made Lois sound really dumb. Just like smoking. Ugh.

If McAdams calls you Smallville you know she means no harm. When Wilde says it it'll sound demeaning.
But thats the point. Smallville should sound demeaning at first. Should be a critique on Clark.

You guys got it wrong. Smallville shoud sound demeaning cause Lois & Clark should be rivals at first. She should sound that she has a prejudice that he is from the country side like Hatcher did in Lois & Clark.

To play devil's advocate, spelling has had less importance as a skill thanks to technology. You can still have a knack for writing structure and prose, while being a bad speller.

That's a GREAT point. There's this certain pitch that someone needs for Lois. Some have it, others don't. And it can't be acted. Rachel McAdams naturally has it. Olivia Wilde does not.
Pitch that's dictated through acting...

it is only because wilde plays alot of stoic characters especially in house i am sure she can be like lois if given the chance she is naturally funny

Yes, you re right Daniel. The point is that i can see McAdams changing her "smallville" to friendly banter, while Wilde will always be stuck up to me.

Considering she would be acting I don't see why she "couldn't" make it sound right. I hate to bring up Tron Legacy because that's the only thing I have seen her in but you guys are making her out to be some kind of stuck up b**** when she clearly is not. She can be sweet and innocent.

And the spelling quirk in the Donner movies was just a cutesy thing, No big deal.

On Tron she is pretty sweet and the best thing about that terrible movie. McAdams is more like Lana, imo. Sweet girl that has this all american air from the country side. Lois should be the opposite of that. She should be strong, *****y to Clark at first. But he loves her because she doesnt take **** from no one and is a very respected reporter. She should look down on Clark and that's what attracts him. lol. He can't get her by playing the mild-mannered guy at first. That is the whole point of Lois Lane.

With that being said, I would be happy with both because they're both good actresses and look like women and not a girl.

Well I loved the movie :o haha but she did show some spunk while also having a certain softness.

I don't get people's sudden obsession over Wilde. Especially when people call her a good actress. I am no film critic but come on she has yet to prove herself in anything she has been in to be called a "good actress".

Ridiculous.

...
What's with the attitude?

I don't get people's perception of Wilde as a 'perfect supermodel beauty'. I don't find her beautiful at all. Or even pretty. I guess it's a matter of taste; I don't tend to like harsh features.

Olivia and Rachel are both beautiful to me. Of course, beauty is subjective so it shouldn't even matter.

Think about this: Ellen Page in 6 years, what's she gonna look like? I'd argue perfect for Lois Lane in all her glory. Ellen Page is only young now, but if she's supposed to be young in the first movie, then that's fine and she'll grow into adult Lois as she climbs through her 20's:

She was voted out a long time ago by most Superman fans.

That because she's hot, she automatically comes off as stuck up? She's an actress. She never came off that way on House.

Also, you probably need to familiarize yourself with the Lana Lang character then from the comics, she is the girl next door indeed. She's the smalltown girl from farmland Kansas, often literally the girl next door to Clark.

Modern Lois Lane is supposed to be the complete opposite. Raised in the city, fast-paced, outgoing and sexy.

6 years from now, she'll still look and sound like a miscast for Lois.

It isn't about how young she looks. She doesn't resemble LL and all and her acting style and voice don't even come close to what's needed. Definitely a much bigger miscast than Bosworth.

She came off as ultra angsty on House. What a bad character she had.
The point is that her whole appearence and voice dont give me that spunky attitude that i expect from Lois. Maybe she's not stuck up, but she's not the main girl in the party having all the fun. She could be the hottest though.

See, its much better without the attitude. Besides, we're talking about Lois, so my ignorance on Lana is inconsequential.

At the end of the day its how we perceive a certain person. We cant all have the same opinion. As good as i think Jackman is, i could never see him playing Batman. He just doesnt got it for this role. Same way about Wilde. Its hard to put into words really.

She is quite spunky and upbeat in real life, she just has a history of playing serious characters

However, let's face it.. with a Nolan/Goyer script I really doubt Lois will be that spunky or anywhere close. I expect a dry and sarcastic all business Lois Lane (like the TAS version).

I suppose some people might file her under a Lana choice. However I see potential for Lois, she has matured a lot.

Alexis Bledel is very beautiful but still too babyfaced for Lois, IMO. Also her voice is kind of similar to Ellen Page's.
