The Official Lois Lane Casting & Discussion Thread

I stand with Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

She's in the right age for a start (26), she's pretty, but not too perfect, she's attractive, but not too sexy. And she can make the strong personality of Lois Lane looking sweet at the same time. She's talented and cool.
Wait, where? I'm not quite understanding her vast support in fanboy circles. Precisely which roles did she exhibit such talent? Perhaps I missed it.

Well MEW hasnt really shown a lot that would match Lois, to be honest i want her more as Mary Jane in Spiderman, i think she looks the part, fits what i think is the age the character would be around (25-30 yrs old) she's more believable as Lois then someone like say another fanboy fave in Hathaway.

I'm not the biggest supporter for Anne in this role, but I'd much rather have her than MEW. She doesn't resemble the character much, but she at least comes off as a young woman, and has the talent to pull the role off with ease.

MEW has not shown she has the skill or range, and she looks like a girl to boot. She's a pretty face. I really don't get why she gets so many rallying behind her. It's a fanboy crush gone awry.

MEW screams MJ to me , but not Lois.

The actress who imo is the best choice for Lois Lane in soap actress /vet Dahlia Salem. In the clips i've seen of her on youtube, She is Lois Lane. However she was born in 1972 so she's out of the age range for a new Superman francise unless they go with the John Hamm idea. She can pass for ten years younger but she's still too old for a reboot . Other then her , I'm really not commited to any actress in the role. Maybe Marion Cotillard .

Olivia Wilde is getting rave reviews(even in the bad ones) for her performance in Tron Legacy. She maybe the it girl for the moment, so she'll probably get an offer.

YES!
(*starts the chant*)
Wilde for Lois...
Wilde for Lois...
Wilde for Lois...

If Wilde has a bob hairdo similar to what she has in Tron (just no as extreme) she could look like a perfect Lois.

Rashida Jones is very Lois like.

Her opposite Armie Hammer would be perfect.

Not a fan of Wilde at all. Seen her in the OC, House and a couple of movies and none of her performances were especially engaging.

rashida jones is fat and REALLY OLD.

Armie Hammer is early 20's.

I DON'T THINK THAT WOULD BE PERFECT.

yeah i know look at this damn PIG:dry:

Are you trying to act ******ed?

While Hammer is not a good choice for Superman at all(The Social Network proved this to me), Rashida Jones is definitely a decent choice/suggestion for Lois. She nowhere near my top choices, but she isn't an out of left field suggestion.

She's 34, too old for a franchise. Besides, she's not leading lady material, especially for a Superman film. That's just the truth. No way in hell she's gonna get the role.

I guess I was kinda trying to act ******ed. I'll follow your lead next time and go full ******.

34 isn't really old, and she is far from fat; so I guess you did go full ******ed.

BTW, Courtney Cox was 32 in the first Scream movie, and she's still going strong and became a fave character of the franchise.

I won't say she's leading lady material either, but it's possible for her to be suggested for Lois by some on here, and it's not some random role where she wouldn't fit.

I know Evangline Lily said she was going to quit acting but i think she exaggerated. She's in a new movie with Hugh Jackman that just started filming in June called "Real Steel". It's a scifi film.

If she's still acting in films i say cast her! :woot:

Rumor is she's pregnant. If that's the case you can pretty much cross her off the list unfortunately.:csad:

After her the next on my list would be Emily Blunt, I'm really kinda of surprised she doesn't get more love in this thread.

Seriously, while it may be a part of the Superman story, there's no way they'll play up the romance in this film. The studio blamed a 'love-based' plot as the reason for SR not catching on, they said this publicly many times.

They want a ballsy action-centric film. Superman presented in live action in a way he's never been done before.

Also, I would be incredibly skeptical that Nolan/Goyer played up the love story in the script. It is not their style at all. Minor subplot perhaps.

They don't want a rom-com or chickflick; unfortunately an approach plaguing Superman since the 90s.

I'm excited to see Superman finally done properly without being weighed down by this 'Clois' shipper garbage.

I don't want to see a rom-com or chickflick either. But I want Lois and Clark's relationship at the heart of the film.

You don't have to have them in love yet, or married or anything, to have everything that makes them so interesting to watch be in play. The way they spark off each other. The way she brings out his humanity and reassures his faith in people. It's what makes Superman a different hero. Dedicated, hopeful and someone who stands for truth and justice. Both his upbringing, and having Lois Lane in his life, helped form that IMO.

Besides, if they are having a more interesting Clark Kent (which I hope they do), and they are focusing on him as a Journalist as well as a hero, then Lois definitely has a firm place in the plot.

You don't need flying through the city scenes, and cheesy love scenes. In fact it's what I most despise about previous movies... I actually cringe when I watch that scene in Superman2 when they are walking slowly into the bedroom...

You just need a sense that she is really important to him.

Alexandra Daddario would be a good Lois IMO
