The Amazing Spider-Man The Official Marc Webb Thread

weren't there suppose to be 3 villains for the new one? and now they're saying it'll be around $80 mill

personally i always wanted JOSS WHEDON(the man who tries so hard to save TV) to write and direct spiderman.
Me too... but I want Joss for almost every Marvel comic book adaption out there. At least Whedon and Hitch are going to do a Spider-Man story in the comics, though the new movie will probably be out before that happens.

Nothing Joss Whedon has created shows as much talent as Marc Webb did in 500 days of summer. I don't dislike Joss Whedon, but I know for a fact he's not the best director for Spider-man. He does deserve credit though, Buffy, Dollhouse, and my favorite is Firefly. He doesn't even come close to J. J. Abrams though... Alias, Lost and Fringe are all better shows. And it seems the studios think so as well. Alias got 6 or something seasons, Lost got 6, Fringe will probably go on to it's 3rd. Most of Whedon's shows get canceled. Joss Whedon never really impressed me much, with the exception of Firefly, his characters are bland, his stories are unoriginal, and yet he has a huge fan base. I don't mean to show disrespect, but I'm just saying I don't want him to really do any big marvel film.

Really? When's that?

REALLY?! :wow:
I'm SO there!

It's funny how both Warners and Sony hired two respectively new directors whose breakthrough films played with the concept of narrative time. Memento is infintely better than 500 Days, of course, but I hope that Sony, like WB did, give their man the creative freedom he should have.

using the example of memento and 500 days you can absolutely tell what the tone of the movie is/was going to be with the directors hired.

I just saw some Marc Webb music videos. By far the best - and best song as well - is Move Along, even though it borrows a lot from the famous "Noah takes a picture of himself" Youtube video. The Green Day 21 Guns video has solid direction, too bad it´s one of the blandest, most boring Green Day singles I ever heard, and I like Green Day. That and Miss Murder both have this terrible emo feel to them, hope he doesn´t bring any of that to the franchise. I´ll check out 500 Days Of Summer this weekend.

The dance number in 500 Days is probably what the dance number in SM3 should have been.

How about no dance numbers at all.

Sony's press release leads me to believe that they wouldn't want something like that. As they are going more "Batman Begins" and grittier.

Hopefully that just means a good story with characters acting like their comic book counterparts (quips and all in Spideys case) set in a more believable world than those in the Raimi series.

Don't see room for dancing thankfully.

Yes, no dance numbers, even though the scene in (500) Days of Summer was actually fun to watch compared to Raimi's cheese fest.

the dance number from SM3 was hilarious. Replace it with the 500DOS version, and it loses it's charm

There's nothing charming about cheese.

The dance scene was nothing but embarrassing for all those involved. It was an unnecessary edition that petty Raimi added into the film cause he didn't like Venom.

They are going to go for this indie culture pitchfork.com reading kind of feel. I hope this doesnt fall far from and adventure movie.

Exactly. It was a mixture of comedy, but it also shows us how different the Symbiote has made Peter.
So the symbiote made him into more of a doofus dork? Not a big change. The pictures of Black Suit Spidey being more aggressive and the hitting MJ is what shows how different it made Peter.

The dance sequence serves no purpose at all in the movie.

Much as I defend Raimi´s take on Spidey, the dancing thing didn´t work for me. It felt like a forced attempt to keep the character sympathetically dorky even influenced by the symbiote, what killed some of the impact of making him go dark.

I am eager to hear which Spidey villains Marc Webb has a soft spot for. Raimi always favored the classic villains from Stan Lee's day, which was great.

Not always. Because that lead us to get Sandman as Uncle Ben's killer and we know how that turned out.

Yeah, I´m not into bringing Carnage to the films, for instance. If they ever revisit the black suit/Venom storyline, the best model is SSM.

nice that someoen wrotte this.

the hypocrites on the spiderman boards always make me laugh.because i remember very good how much they complaind about Sandman becoming the killer.i also did.but now its all Sony's fault that they forced Venom.

i bow to you all .
