Oh I agree.. I don't want something galaxy threatening... The Reapers are destroyed and as far as I'm concerned they can be completely done away with now. I want something personal too... Smaller in scale.

I wonder if your save files from ME3 can be imported (using whatever endings you got) or if this is basically starting from scratch (and or they even going to use an import system for the next trilogy)?

In a way I hope so..and in another way I hope not. All my ME saves were on the 360... I'm getting the PS4... Luckily all my DA saves are on my PS3. I suppose I could go get the trilogy on the PS4 but at this point I'm not sure I could ever play through ME1 again. :p

I didn't even think about the next generation consoles. Good point.

Maybe they'll do something like Dragon Age Keep to handle all the ME saves.

From what they told game informer in the Dragon inquisition thread something like that will most likely happen.

I'd rather it be a sequel. this way they can address the aftermath of your decisions in the 1st trilogy.

I agree with this. The only thing I ask is how would that work on the new consoles? They arent backwards compatible so accessing your saves would be out of the question. Unless they made some kind of way to update ME3 so that you got a code unique to your choices and entered it into ME4 and it added those choices made to the new storyline. I worked too hard on the trilogy for it to go unacknowledged in the new one (this is based purely on the provision a new one is made)

They can always make it like they did ME2 on ps3 with what interactive comic, just that it's gonna have to be longer I guess.

They could give you the option of selecting which major decisions you made in the trilogy. I think it would lead to too many restrictions for future Mass Effect games and the developers would have to work just to ensure everyone's individual game stayed within their own ever growing complex continuity.

Yeah, an interactive comic that lets you make all the major choices through all the previous games would be the best option. My ME saves are all on my Xbox...I have a PS4..So..

Luckily all my DA saves are on my PS3.

I'd rather just start fresh tbh...have a few nods toward the original trilogy but don't tie yourself down to it. Can't wait to see what they reveal at the VGAs.

When it takes place a couple hundred years later, I just want certain thing to be acknowledged. I haven't played the series in a while, so I can't say how many events would actually remembered generations later, but I at least want to know that the Krogans got cured of the Genophage, thanks to my Shepard's actions.

Bah that's not important. I want the game to remember if I punched the journalist and wether or not I let the asari in the thorians lair survive or not :o

The journalist punch is the defining decision of the Mass Effect series. (anyone who didn't punch failed)

It will probably be handled like Dragon Age. Though that's assuming that new Mass Effect is a sequel, which I don't think is likely.

I doubt very much that it's a sequel like we've come to expect from ..You know...Sequels. I wouldn't be shocked if it's a continuation of the Galaxy post ME3 though.

Maybe nothing we chose will carry over, more so if it's hundreds of years later...Maybe tales of "The Shepard" and his crew... It would be bad ass to meet Liara again though...and maybe Shepards daughter?

Like I said though, at the same time I'd very much like to see how my choices have affected this "new" Galaxy.

If you met shepherds daughter though she would have to be fully customisable like shepherd which is probably more work for the developers than is really needed.

I wouldn't mind something new set in the same universe though

I think the way for them to make the best game possible and dedicate all resources most efficiently would be to make a totally new game based in the distant future of the same universe and just keep easter egg references here & there to the past that aren't too committing.

Yeah, I'd like loose ties to past events... Like I said maybe talks of Shepard and his crew... a statue of them or the Normandy.. Something small. Something that when I hear it, I'll grin in remembrance of doing that.

Other than that, if I'm NOT playing as Shepard..I want a new story hundreds if not a thousand years in the future.

I agree, I really wouldn't want to see any of the characters from the Mass Effect trilogy appear in a new game. At least, not right away. I'd rather establish something new and then maybe discover easter eggs/cameos.

If only one character were to appear in the new series, though, my money would be on EDI.

Just pick one ending to develop the sequel on and spend all your energy on that. Spending energy/funds to do the choose your own canon is misguided imho. Decide if the Rachini was saved or not. And then in a couple hundreds have them back as a Citadel member.

Allow the Quarian's to finally settle down, Krogan to come back etc.

I agree at this point. Bioware dropping the ball on the "choices matter thing," kinda killed it. The player no longer thinks that anything that they did influenced the outcome, so just pick an ending (probably merge) and go with it.

The endings are all pretty much the same anyway.

I agree. Same universe, but something new. We could even hear multiple variations on the same event, so the adventure's of Shepard and crew are more legend than history. Relying too much on what came before will only hinder the new property, where it ultimately needs to stand and succeed on it's own accord.

If any character can survive to the next Mass Effect generation it will be an AI.

Ha, would like to hear different versions from different obviously biased characters.
