The Official Metal Gear Movie Thread

I love the Brad Bird suggestion.

As soon as I heard Gary Oldman for Ocelot, I knew there could be no other.

Gary Oldman as Ocelot makes me giddy.I can see either Bale or Jackman as Snake.Honestly, I do believe that Snake Eater would be the best place to start. It's the best story of the franchise and it's what everything is tied to.

Hopefully they'll announce the screenwriter fairly soon. It's great and all that this project is picking up steam once again, but man does Arad's involvement dampen my enthusiasm.

But yeah. Gary Oldman as Revolver Ocelot. I'd stroke out.

If only they would use Hayter's "Apocalypse Now for the Digital age" script.

Gary Oldman makes a great villain but... Sam Elliott... Just. Sam Elliott. No more words needed.
Revolver Ocelot spent a good deal of his life in Russia.

The thought of Elliott attempting anything resembling a Russian accent makes my skin crawl.

But he doesn't talk Russian...oddly lol

And Ocelot was a fan of spaghetti western stuff...and Elliot pulled that off rather well in Ghost Rider ;)

Oh, and Brad Bird FTW!!! :D

If I was going to choose a director I would probably go with Alfonso Cuarón.

Ocelot was born and raised in Russia wasn't he? Adamska

Has this ever leaked online? I've heard about it and always really wanted to read it.

I don't think so unfortunately.

I wonder, would it be so bad if they removed the clone elements from the story?

I have no clue how they're going to translate the story to screen. They'd have to do some serious editing to make the story legible and coherent, because in the games it certainly is not.

He certainly knows how to do good drama and action...

But could Nolan do this?...make a good easy to follow, but complex MG movie? Or would it be HIS idea of MG?

I love Nolan, I like everything he's ever done, but I personally think his style is too sterile for something like Metal Gear. Would he be a good choice? Absolutely. Would be the ideal choice? I personally don't think so.

I know what you mean.

I've always thought he could possibly write a good MG story. He knows the drama and complex ideas pretty well in what he does.

But my feelings right now about this movie? I don't have a lot of confidence.

Neill Blomkamp is another one that I think could be good for this.

It's going to come down to the writing though at this point.

Exactly. Nolan's story telling has a lot in common with the MG games.

But it's Nolan...will human clones be too unrealistic for him? lol

Heh. Don't get it twisted, I have zero faith in this project whatsoever. It has too many hurdles.

It probably won't even get off the ground, but if it does...

It will probably be awful, but if it isn't...

It will probably be completely unrecognizable as Metal Gear, but if it is...

It will probably be savaged by critics and fail at the box office.

Uwe Boll has been rumoured to direct this! MY CONFIDENCE IS RISING!!! :D

There is only one Ocelot, and that is Gary Oldman.

If it meant that Shia could get all of his limbs, organs, and lower jaw ripped out....
