That wasn't a game, it was a tech demo, and the KojiPro team was never able to make an actual game out of what we saw in that demo which is why it was cancelled. The old version of the game is gone and it's not coming back. Now stop ****ing complaining. Be glad you're getting a game with a slicing mechanic at all. It's extremely rare for a game to get cancelled and then revived in any form. In fact this is only instance of that I can think of, but I'm sure there are probably more.
I rather have the game canceled. They could at least make a small game of that tech demo
included in MGS5.

I wish Hideo gave Metal gear Solid Rising to the creaters of Assassin's creed instead of to platinum games. In my opinion It would of made more sense that way .

Unfortunately you already explained this to him about the demo soapy. if he still doesn't get it. it's a lost cause.
No I know. I just can't understand How you guys prefer the Hack N slash over The 2010 trailer demo if that demo ever became real game.

There is nothing wrong of liking the REvengeance game, but to say it looks better and more interesting than the tech demo is Hard to believe.

I don't mind the hack and slash aspect, I just wish the game was more in the vein of Batman or sort of MGS4. So that it could have all out action sections, but since he is a ninja and Raiden was a scout so he could sneak up on enemies too. Also, Zan-Datsu seemed cool too. I also prefer the chronological setting of MGS:R.

But, I'm just gonna have to accept it. If I don't like it, it's not canonical then, so who cares.

This game is a spin off and takes place "outside the Metal Gear Solid timeline". If I don't like it, it can be placed squarely in the same category as Metal Gear 2: Snake's Revenge and its ilk.

No it doesn't. It takes place "several years after METAL GEAR SOLID 4 to give them more of an opportunity to show off what they can bring to the series."

It is still very much canon it's just not a "Solid" title because the main character isn't a Snake and it doesn't use stealth to that capacity.

That doesn't change the fact that it is still part of the same timeline. It's on their official website by the way.

I didn't mean that as a reason for it actually being non canonical. But I'm not much a fan of what we've seen so far. So if I at least approach the game with an open mind, and don't like it, I don't have to consider it a canonical event. It doesn't affect the main games (which is what I meant when I quoted Kojima saying "outside the MGS timeline"), because it is merely a spin off, like Metal Gear Acid, for example.

Even if canon, it wouldn't affect the main games, because it takes place 10 years after the events of MGS4. It's not like it takes place during the same time, simply at other locations, or contradicts events of MGS4. And it's not the same as Metal Gear Acid. MGA was supposed to be non-canon from the get go. This however, unless stated otherwise, is pretty much canon and a continuation of the MGS time line.

It's got enough room to be canonical without touching what's been done before.

So, them placing it like that is more than fine with me. Whenever we start talking a sequel to MGS4, and where that's placed is where it could get interesting. But right now, it looks like they've given Raiden room to do his own thing without needing Snake or Otacon to lean on.

In fact, fans can expect more conversations in the upcoming title than in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

I'm actually surprised by this. I know they said they wouldn't make us watch like 30 minute cutscenes, because this is supposed to be a fast paced game, so I wonder how they'll handle the codec conversations. Maybe we'll talk to someone while we cut a Metal Gear in half?

I don't think it means there will be huge cutscenes again. But in MGS4 the codec was only used a few times and you only had two contacts, Hal and Rose, so I imagine a full support cast will be in again.

there's going to be codec? I didnt even think of it but I assumed that would be out. This isnt a stealth title. They seem to be going for a more straight on fast paced action title. Id imagine the codecs would be distracting and take away from the flow of the game

Anyone else checked out the new KojimaPro podcast ? Some interesting stuff about the nature of Kojima's new FOX engine, which is apparently next-gen compatible.
They also mention some nice little tidbits on MGR, like how there's a distinct reason why Raiden's wife and son aren't with him. Also the the original MGS:R story(which was extremely dark and featured Sunny) may be used in a future game.

Yay to using MGS:R's story. But I called Rose and John being dead, if that's the case, which I think it is, hence going back to cyborg and the fractured personality.

I also found this at gamefaqs, transcript of Kojima Productions Report #154.

-The script writer for both Metal Gear Solid: Rising and Revengeance, Etsu Tamari, made the decision to change the timeline to after the events of MGS4.

-The story will explain why and how Raiden changed after the events of MGS4. All the shocking elements in the newest Revengeance trailer are intentional.

-Kojima Productions teased the new Zandatsu system in the latest Famitsu article. Look forward to teaser screenshots on February.

-Both Kojima Productions and Platinum Games pay great attention to how they can preserve the "feel" of Metal Gear universe.

-The podcast members joke about how in Revengeance enemies hide from Raiden and attempt to ambush him, calling it an "interesting role reversal".

-Lots of Codecs, even more than in MGS4

-No stealth. Period. It's an action game set in Metal Gear universe.

-You can cut almost anything with obvious limitations. You can control the way you cut.

-You can use fast combos or use a more strategic approach of free cutting

Sounds good. I still kinda wish Raiden was like Batman, but this is all seeming good. Now just announce a release.
