Yeah, I guess his portrayal worked, but I still think he appeared to be slightly unintentionally off in the part. But I'll still watch him in anything anytime anywhere.

"If the movie had ended with him killing a bunch of people, it would have fitted"

It WILL fit The Iceman.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to that one. He was born to play a serial killer :funny:

I watched the prison interviews with Kuklinski. I dont approve of serial killers, but I find them fascinating. What a cold character this Kuklinski. And perfectly normal, except for no reservations about killing. Interesting ´´origin`` story too. I hope the movie is great and not just a run of the mil mafia assasin story. Shannon will own though. This, MOS and Mud (from the Take Shelter director and writer, looks good http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1935179/ ) all coming out in 2013 will hopefuly make him recognized and respected as an A-lister in the public conscience.

I have to say that next to Cavill as Supes, the only other actor I'm really looking forward to seeing in MOS is Shannon. There's just something about him that's radiating anticipation for me. Though Terence Stamp's Zod was awesome, I can't wait to see Shannon's portrayal. I hope Snyder let him cut loose and go 100% nutcase! :)

Amy Adams is a distant 3rd for me which is saying a lot because I find her uber-hot....

Agreed :)

Also majorly looking forward to Laurence as Perry and Costner as JK.

But i'm just so curious to see what Shannon will do with a character like Zod.

Too much? I think so. I'd rather he be really cool and calm and just be really brutal and determined when fighting, but still with a calm look. I hope he'll be in the background until he's addressed. And Faora will be his messenger.

Just wanted to post here, because I found out recently that apparently Zod's leading an alien invasion on Earth? Given that was Loki's MO in The Avengers, I'm really interested to see what Snyder can come up with visually and whether can top it. My first impulse would be to say no, however while I think Whedon is a much better writer than Snyder, the latter sure knows how to make pretty visuals. I'm really intrigued with what we could see.

Well, thank god Snyder didn't write the script then. The Nolans and Goyer were in charge of that. :woot:

Shannon is such an awesome villain. I wouldn't be against him continuing as Zod in the potential sequels.

They could do so much epic stuff with the Kryptonians VS Humans storyline.

well as long as he can pull off the "Kneel before Zod" line........I might start liking him as Zod, until I hear that I'm on the "will see" list

And yes I know about the rumor where he might actually say that in the movie, but come on, its Zod, he's got to say it atleast once

Haha. I'd rather he not say it. It's a cheesy line that fit well with the Stamp version of Zod.

I think Shannon will be a much more realistic character who doesn't give a damn about this kneeling business.

I liked that the goal of the film was to not owe anything to any Superman stuff that had come before, and basically be it's own thing. I'd rather it stick with that.

If he were to say "Kneel" alone, that'd be good. But they're trying to distance themselves from what came before, so I wouldn't include "Before Zod". Same way I wouldn't want the next Joker to say "Why so serious?".

The thing is - if this rumour that Superman is a 'kryptonian prince' is true, that implies there will be some form of Royalty in Kryptonian society, or at least different classes. And if that's the case, the 'kneel before Zod' line suddenly doesn't seem as cheesy as it did - even to this day, it's expected that many people will bow or kneel before royalty. Zod may reason that as one of the last remaining Kryptonians, he should elevate himself to king.

I personally agree, I'd prefer him to simply say 'Kneel before me' or just 'kneel'.

But at the same time, talking about yourself in the third person is one of the great signs of narcissism, and Zod is definitely a narcissist.

Based on other interpretations of Krypton's society, I always assumed that they went about it by following a similar system from the one that the Roman Empire had once used, where it was ruled by a group of council members as opposed to the standard ruling monarchy. Course, if we go further into history, or by what Rachel Dawes said in TDK,lol....they eventually gave power to one individual who ultimately never gave up that power and made himself the one true king for that empire.

The funny thing is, if Zod does say Kneel, some people will say they copied Loki in Avengers.

I hope he says it in one form or another.

I kind of hope he doesn't.

I mean it depends. If they establish that this is the kind of thing that is expected for Kryptonian Generals in this neo medieval culture, then I suppose it could work.

But it just seems like if they wanna make General Zod a different sort of villain, a serious, 3 dimensional character, then they won't have his objective on earth to make humans kneel before him for his ego's pleasure.

I'd prefer a Zod who has no interest in the theatrics of making people kneel.

I think they did that on Smallville, with the Callum Blue version of the character.

I don't understand how Zod would be reduced to a campy, one-dimensional character if he commanded those he felt inferior to him to kneel. It worked for Loki.

If anything, I think it'd help to reinforce that he's nothing but an egotistical, power-hungry SOB.

Loki works for the Avengers... but I don't think he's a Nolan style villain.

I think Zod will be more on par with Ras, Joker, and Two Face. He won't be as cartoony as the Stamp version.

I'm expecting him to be 10x more complex, and not an ego-driven stereotype.

You're suggesting Loki was a ego driven stereotype? If so that demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of the character.

Zod should tell those to kneel not because of ego, but because he's a military man, it is all that he knows. That's the kind of character he should be.
