I don't know why, but the posters just work better with only their first names.
I prefer the full names. That would also work better for a mainstream audience, acquainting them with Magneto's full name and clarifying that Charles is Professor Xavier. I can see why they did it.

X-Men posters have always been pretty boring, these at least are going for something interesting.These posters are not that exciting.
This movie takes place in the 60's. What a great opportunity they have to make some cool retro style posters. If you go to Slashfilm they showcase poster remakes from fans that are spectacular and clever.
These official X-men posters won't get so much as a glance at a theater lobby.

Honestly, these are the worst posters I've ever seen for a 'major motion picture'. Do they not have budget? Looks like poor photoshop someone at my ad agency did.
