There's some major differances in these movies than the Matrix's, there better.

Agreed, but still 2nd movie wasn't as great as was POTC1, what means disappointment for me.

This might be where you, and many are missing the point imo...They aren't going for this deep meaningful trilogy, sure they are putting the epic scope touch on there, because a movie with the scope that these have, is more than well deservent of that. To me it is clearly not trying to be LOTR, or SW, or Indiana Jones, it is just trying to be Pirates movies, fanfare, action packed, enough comedy for children and adults would find funny. If you watch the bonus features on the Dvd the writers state about 3 or 4 times that they had one long ass script, and they where talking with Bruckheimer and stuff, and they said financially, and because of the fact they had so much they wanted to do with one movie, that it would just make sense to expand upon the like 150 page script they had, make it two 100 page scripts, and film them at the same time for 300 million total, when two seperate productions would have cost 200 million a peice. I see absolutley no problem with that, and because of that I have no problem with DMC having the cliff hanger endings that it did.

Which is exactly why the cliffhanger and the plot complications feel forced to me. To me, to make me wait months and months to see the conclusion of a movie, it HAS to be something I really care about, if it´s something light and unpretentious, don´t try to make it any bigger than it actually is.

The thing that disappointed me about DMC is the lack of payoff for the Davey Jones' plot in the ending. The threat should end at the end of a movie. You can continue a story, leave it on a cliffhanger, but at least end the threat introduced in the movie. Davey Jones' just sailed away?!?! I know Norrington has the heart now, but there needed to be more of a payoff.

This is a fair point, DMC isn't better than Curse, but ROTK isn't better than ether of the first two LOTR movies, same with ROTJ and the SW movies. Are they dissapointments?

Temple of Doom is still sweet, just not as sweet as Lost Ark

I don't think because a movie isn't as good as the predecessor doesn't mean it is dissapointing

I know they were making 2 and 3 at the same time. That doesn't mean you can't tell a complete story over the course of 2 and 1/2 hours. DMC was too long as it was, they could have easily lost 30 minutes from the movie without any harm to the story. Truthfully to me DMC felt a lot like Matrix Reloaded, a movie that was just spinning it's wheels so they could create a trilogy. It would have been better if they wrapped up the Davey Jone's storyline and used another "monster"/old pirate legend for the third.

It will be extremely close so I don't expect a squashing either way, but I'd love to see some cocky Pirate fans (especially the hundreds of fangirls on IMDB building a "Squash the Spider" coalition) eat their words though.

If Pirates beats Spiderman by 50ty million worlwide than yes Jack will own Spidy.

Um i don't want to cause a rukus but didn't D.M.C break every single record Spidermans 1 an 2 held. I'm not predicting anything for i think they will be pretty even except for the fact Spiderman 3 did not open up on memorial day weekend. Both will make a tone of cash no question . I don't think either will crush the other. I think you will just get three 300 million dollar movies due to Shrek 3, Spiderman 3 and Pirates 3. I think each will lessen the box office take but may 2007 will be big.

There is alot going on in more than just Davy Jones, there is also the matter of Lord Cutler Beckett and co. who are also considered the bad guys.

Davy Jones arc crosses two movies, but you should really pay attention to the news, this maybe news to you, so brace yourself....Chow Yung Phat is playing the monster/old pirate legend in the third...so they are doing what you want

A Michael bay movie about giant robots tearing **** up?

It ain't the cartoon where the robots were the stars, but people running around while two sides of giant robots fight each other. Sounds like another ID4 or WOTW to me though.

Still i expect Sm3 to make a lot more money but Potter may well make the most given it's date

i enjoyed 2 more then 1...just was better for me..and all my friends and family agreed..it was just more epic and emotional i felt.

whatever though I'm just excited for 3.
