WILL TURNER: We're not here for you. We offer-

WILL is cutoff as SAO FENG administers a series of elbows and strikes, driving Will back into a barrel.

SAO FENG raises an iron claw to finish WILL off and is stopped by a blunderbuss (pistol) clicking right in his ear.

Camera swings around to reveal Barbossa with Monkey Jack on his shoulder.

BARBOSSA: We've come for The Black Pearl, Captain.

WILL and ELIZABETH turn to BARBOSSA with questioning looks.

BARBOSSA rolls his eyes.

JACK SPARROW in a surreal desert (Purgatory) falling into quicksand and crabs. BARBOSSA reaching to pull him out.

JACK SPARROW: I'll not be saved by the likes of you!

BARBOSSA: And I don't want to be saving ya, but I don't see any sea turtles around to help ya now Jack.

"BOOTSTRAP" BILL sits at a campfire talking to someone OC.

BILL: I need to find him...he's...my son.

VOICE: You have a son?

BILL: Yes.

VOICE: I have a son as well. In these very waters. I'll help you find yours if you help uncover mine.

WHY CAN'T WE SEE IT!!!!!!!!! That trailer sounds perfect!!!

Soon enough, I guess.

PLEASE RELEASE A TRAILER!!!

seriously pirates 3's main competition (sm3) had a teaser out 6 months ago...i really think disney has to get on top of the whole marketing aspect.

Disney is campaigning right now, there just letting DMC do it for them.

I wouldnt expect a teaser till Jan. (Feb 5th, is the Super Bowl).

Don't you guys get it Disney is building on the anticipation factor. Look how long Sam Raimi had to work on Spiderman 3 trailer. This is all a anticiption tactic. Its to make people want to see it more. My guess is the trailer will hit at the Superbowl time. When many ar watching.

Exactly.

While I do agree that they will probably have somethign during the Superbowl, I think it's the wrong move to wait too long to build the "anticipation factor"

While that works on us here at forums and everythign, it doesn't really work on the general audience. The general audience isn't getting more hyped about this movie, they're just forgetting about it.

Yep, pretty much.

But wouldn't it be nice for it to just pop up out of the blue any day now?! :woot:

Yeh a person would forget Pirates 3 with Dead Mans Chest. A dvd just released and sold 10 million units. I'd say more people are likely to have forgotten Spiderman 2. Trust me 2006 world box office giant is not forgotten. The cliffhanger was so no one forgot Pirates 3 was coming.

I had an interesting quetsion about At Worlds End. Do you suppose Davy will make Will and Bootstrap fight each other and Jack will save Will after his father is so far gone after killing Norrington which is rumored. I think Jack not Liz will reason with Will if he becomes like Davy. After all thing i think Will knows Jack better then anyone. For he was not overly mad with Jack about the selling him to Davy Jones. I say Jacks plan was to have Will steal the key and i think even Will knew that.

I think its perfect personally, I am not hyped anymore for S3 because all the hype is gone, they delt there last ace by showing Venom, we know pretty much how the movie will go, all that is left is to see. I want to see it, and think it will be awesome, but I have no more anticipation for it

I know about 21 percent of what AWE is going to be about, and it is eating at me like none other. And because of that AWE has solidified it's no. 1 spot on my most anticipated movies.

I hope the trailers do the right thing, tease us like crazy but spoil nothing, I personally thought the DMC trailers where very good, they just gave us a taste of what was to come

Except that the DVD DMC isn't what I was talking about. You were specifically talking about holding the trailer back to build anticipation, and I simply replied that doing that might be building anticipation for people like us on forums, but not the average person. And while the DMC dvd DID help remind people I'm sure, I bet that quite a few will have once again forgotten about it by the time the Superbowl comes around in a couple of months, which is why the trailer needs to come befoer that, and then another tv spot during it.

DMC is a great marketing tool for part 3. But in the vapid mind (in terms of film) minds of some moviegoers its ending will be just as forgotten in 5 months. But it is a nice boost in interest. Albeit, the hype since July has worn off considerably and I am starting to notice A LOT more negative comments about it being too long and pointless...I myself enjoy it as a fun dumb movie, however I am disappointed it didn't live up to the first.

I think it sets the third up well though (given that seems to be the only reason the movie was made, besides making Disney and Bruckheimer richer) and raises the hype with a good cliffhanger then. I still don't expect part 3 to make as much as part 2 as I think the second disappointed, not Matrix Reloaded level but it will have similar (but much smaller) affect on the box office of the third similar to the Matrix films.

the negative comments are pretty much on these boards only

i think the amount of people who paid 20 dollars plus to own the movie show how much people still really liked it

Oh I know people liked it and even if they were lukewarm bought the DVDs. But I think there was a sense of disappointment, like the Star Wars prequels got. It is there, but it isn't enough to stop the movie or the following ot be megahits and sell like hotcakes on DVD....maybe, just not QUITE as much for the next one.

I mean I remember a review for some movie near the end of the summer, I think it was the NYT, that said "Summer is winding down and so is the summer movie hype....come on, even you are starting to realize Pirates 2 wasn't all that great..."

and I think that is what is happening. It will be the Temple of Doom affect IMO. But if the next one is The Last Crusade it won't matter. I just am saying I don't expect it to make as much as the second because there was a bit of disappointment to the second movie. I myself enjoyed it, but was disappointed in how it was pretty much 2 hours of filler and 30 minutes of cliffhanger htough.

That is exactly the point I think many are missing, but I think it is a bit different then what you are stating it as...

I think that DMC will be considered a great movie when it is all said and done, but in order for that to happen, I think AWE has to be great too. Like you said earlier, the only reason DMC exists is to set up AWE, and for that matter if AWE rules, than that will make DMC even better. I personally am going to be viewing them as one movie, and not like "AWE was better than DMC", or the other way around, because if you listen to the writers talk about the movie, they say they wrote it as one.

They hadn't finished the third script during number two haha!

That trailer description sounds cool...the kraken owns Norrington.

GOOD.

No, if you watch the bonus stuff, they have like a doc on the preproduction before DMC, and they are talking about stuff with Barbossa, and Feng that happens in the third movie, not to mention they flat out just say they just wrote one big movie. Now, maybe some changes where made prior to the start of the "official" shooting of 3, but that is even a loose term, because to avoid Island hopping, if there was an island used in both movies, they filmed that stuff for 3 aswell as for 2.

Who reckons Johnny Depp is going to be more Keith Richards than Keith himself? :p

keithrichardpotc3.jpg

They both look so cool, I can not wait to see that part of the film and how alike they will be.

I bet Johnny's stoked.

Playing a well-loved pirate in a well-loved and seen franchise, and having Keith play your father.

I'd be pissing my pants...but I do that anyway :p

Well I haven't got the second DVD yet. I haven't even got the first.

That fine, I just seem to recall you saying they hadn't written the screen play for the third by the time of filimg, and I was just correcting you saying they had most of it written in like 2005:cwink:

No offence but I recall saying they hadn't finished writing it by they started filming...but then again I am terribly deprived of sleep so sorry if I am wrong about the comment, but yeah that's what I was implying...or hoping to imply...

Im pretty sure they said they didnt have the third films script through by the time they started shooting it.
