The Dark Knight The Official Plot holes thread.

What about at the end of the movie? Gordon and Batman speak of the murders that Dent has committed, and I believe they say that Dent/Two Face murdered five people, including two cops. Who were these people?
As far as Im concerned, he killed the cop in the bar, only punched ramirez, killed maronis driver and possibly killed maroni in the crash.

What about the fake batman. It seems like he was killed. And the bartender was probably punched but could have been killed

I guess this film has very few mistakes/plot holes and that makes it great, the only thing that bothers me is how Batman crushed the van by throwing himself about 4 stories without getting any injury, I mean, he's got a protected suit and the van is metal, even if he glided with his cape to soften the fall, it is too much damage for him and the van...

you know your movies awesome when some one dedicates them self to making a anti site about it :hehe:

I think almost every really popular movie (And some unpopular ones) have sites like that one nitpicking many aspects of them, some to go against the grain. Some of the nitpicks carry some weight, some do not.

jokers hair going from brown to green tint isnt a plot hole, it is a continuity error a plot hole is something in the story that doesnt make sense and effects the story

SB-P

I've noticed throughout the movie the Joker sometimes had a lot of green in his hair, other times little.

Yeah but it's stupid to do that. I guess maybe I'm abnormal, but when I don't care for something, I simply disregard it, not waste my valuable time creating a stupid website. But the depths of human stupidity never ceases to amaze me.

the jokers hair didnt change colour, its just when its wet from sweat or hes slicked it back it looks darker. i read somewhere that his hair is slightly green because his bleached it so many times. i've seen plenty of bad hair dye jobs where someone has put peroxide in it and it has gone a greeny colour.

How did the Joker get the grenades past the metal detector?

well we only saw one-metal detector at one door, and the Joker came in through a different door. remember when he left the mob room he kicked open a door that wasn't guarded by detectors.

Aright, I searched this thread and I couldn't find my answer. So here it goes (this is the ONLY part that is bothering me and I can't seem to find the answer).

So the interrogation scene. The Joker has kidnapped Harvey Dent and Rachel Dawes and forces Batman to choose which one to save. I'm assuming this is part of the reason why the Joker wanted to be put in MCU (the other to get Lau).

This scene takes place right after the chase scene. Now during that scene, the Joker is trying to kill Harvey Dent. Now the Joker here thinks that Dent is Batman, so why not kill two birds with one stone, right? At least according to the shooting script, he thought that Dent was Batman and the person driving the Batmobile "could be anyone. Stay on Dent." then when Batman comes out on the batpod, the Joker goes "Guess that was him."

So if the Joker thought that Dent was Batman and only discovered that he wasn't during the chase scene, why would he plan to have Rachel and Harvey kidnapped to play that joke on Batman? He couldn't have come up with it on the spot when he found out that Dent wasn't Batman, it would take too much planning and he went directly to MCU. I can't make sense of it.

The sonar works by having one peace of equipment [cell phone] working in the selected room.

So if Harvely or Rachel didnt have a phone on at the time that Batman was useing the sonar then he woldn be able to tell where they are.

If they didn't have one, he could have used the signal from another person's phone, like they did in the finale to look for Joker - but he didn't because he hadn't launched the system yet; that's what the woman/Lucuis catch him doing whilst the city is being evacuated. He didn't even attempt to see if Rachel or Harvey had phone signals to pick up, therefore it seems likely that the system wasn't in place yet otherwise he'd have almost certainly used it.

I guess you dont live in a big city.

Lets see if you could find two hidden people in side the city of Manhattan.

If I was able to scramble across rooftops and was on a patrol actively looking for such things I might... Harvey was shouting quite loud and I hardly think it is impossible that Batman might not hear him (or anybody else for that matter) shouting off their heads. He may have even seen the ambulance parked somewhere and gone to investigate. Maybe he even picked up a police frequency that stated one of the suspects they cuffed had disappeared along with Dent.

In all honesty, it's likely that the latter scene didn't show Batman actively looking for Dent on screen because it would have taken away the suspense of what Harvey was doing; we'd have known that Batman was going to stop him. It was just for dramatic effect.

people may not like hearing what that website has to say, but what it has to say isnt wrong. the plot holes that it points out are real plot holes that cant really be explained away. though, i didnt think the movie sucked like the website, i thought it was a pretty good movie, those plot holes are very real. its only up to you how much you want that to affect your opinion of the film.

Actually I think every "plot hole" (people really need to learn what a plot hole is) that the website points out has already been debunked in this thread.

oh really? so for starters, how is it possible for bruce to have created that big sonar thing at the end?

Does every bit of technology in this movie have to be in existence?! The director of Iron Man wanted to ground that movie in realism and no one is complaining about his suit that is NON EXISTENT in real world and probably impossible to achieve.

when said technology is integral to a story's resolution, yes. otherwise its just a deus ex machina. i mean, the ending relies on bruce/batman finding and stopping the joker. but he cant. so suddenly, he just pops up with this magic machine out of nowhere? what the hell? thats so weak. especially for a film that everyone praises for its "realism".

i mean, thats like me making a movie where aliens invade, over run, and enslave the human race. how do you beat them. oh, the main character just turns up with an anti-alien ray gun that he just happen to conjure out of nowhere. now we can defeat the aliens. yay.

Well it didn't exactly 'pop' up. Lucius gave him the sonar in Hong Kong and throughout the movie he expanded on it. Didn't he say that he was keeping some sort of project pretty close to the chest? I'm assuming it's the expanded sonar machine.

lucious had a single cell phone that he said he modified for sonar use. so, unless bruce went out and personally modified every cell phone in gotham, then this machine is impossible.

That may not have been possible ether.

The phone sonar works like a Bats sonar.

A single is released by a phone that signal then bounces off of objects in the room and returns to the phone and translates it into a digatal image.

But just like the sonar of a Bat the single from the phone has a limited range.

So for Rachel to be picked up by someone elses phone she would have had to be within a limited range of a person that just happened to be on the phone at the time.

And the ares she was in looked abandoned.

And again I guess you dont live in a big city.

Lets say we are talking about New York City and not Gotham.

Its not possible to scramble across every roof top in Manhattan.
And Manhattan isint even a big city. Its only 22.96 square miles in all.

And thats assuming that were just talking about that we are talking about the one borough of Manhattan.

NYC has 5 borough with a total of over 304.8 square miles with over With over 8.2 million residents not to mention all the workers coming into the city for work from Long Island,New Jersey and Westchester on a daily bases.

And as for seeing an Ambulance parked outside.....The Bureau of EMS for NYC reports that it dispatched over 3300 Ambulance's per day in 2007.

So thats about 137.5 Ambulances are in being used every hour in NYC.

And thats just the ones that are ran by the CITY.There are plenty of Privately owened Ambulance companies in NYC.

So none of what you said would be possible in NYC.

And since Gotham is bigger and more heavily populated then NYC [at least in the comics] you can see how it would be impossible for one man to do a physical search with any hope of finding them.

I saw really only one, When The Joker meets with The Mob after he kills Gamol's bodyguard with the pencil he says "Oh and by the way, the suit, it wasn't cheap. You oughtta know, you bought it." in reference to his own suit, but then later on Gordon says his suit is custom made. This also made me think that A: he could be lying to piss off the mob or B: He really did by the material to make the suit and it was pretty expensive.

What the Joker meant was, "I bought it with your money".

He was taunting him.

.

how does batman show up at the party to save rachel without any of joker's gang noticing him? i mean, joker talks to rachel, than Batman appears and punches him, but why didnt the goons shoot at him before he hit joker?

LMAO, I forgot about that bit
