I don't mind IF we can't transfer our account,I want to make a new one to get a new name anyway and I don't care about Trophies& Achievements,I understand why some would care But just for me personally it wouldn't matter at all

If it's optional, that'd be great

Well yes but we are talking launch. Now the PS3 is much much cheaper.
Yeah I'm saying it's always been good value, launch till now.

I wonder if your PSN account will carry over to PS4, along with trophies. :hmm
It really should. Big mistake if not. (Same goes for Microsoft)

That's a way to tie a user to your products long term. (by tying all your products together)

Jimmy Fallon Gets the First PS4 Hands On

On Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, talk show host Jimmy Fallon checked out the new PS4 controller and Killzone: Shadow Fall.

Fallon plays through the Shadow Fall demo as does comedian Anthony Anderson. Fallon shoots up a wall, while Anderson unleashes on a bunch of... air conditioners?

I want my Trophies to carry over, but I really hope they finally implement a way to change your account name. Yet another thing that should be relatively simple to do, and something that made MS a ton of extra money this gen.

Don't care about trophies. But if purchases do not carry over. That might be a deal breaker for me. Not buying everything again

Purchases aren't going to carry over because that content is not going to be available/playable on the PS4 (outside of their streaming service). The PS4 is not backwards compatible with any PS3 software.

Same. The ONLY time I care about trophies is when the "you earned x trophy" notification pops up, and that's only because the trophy is usually called something funny. Other than that, I really don't care.

I also don't own a lot of downloaded games, not including dlc, but the idea that your PSN purchases might not carry over is one I don't like out of principle. Someone mentioned earlier a quote that the greatest system ever (snes) wasn't backwards compatible, which on one hand is a good point, but in this day and age where downloaded entertainment is huge and being heavily pushed by companies, there really is NO excuse for our PSN purchases to be lost because we upgrade to a new system. If they can't because of hardware issues, then they really need to find a way to acknowledge our purchases and list them as bought in whatever the next iteration of the PSN will be.

If Microsoft pulls the same **** I will just have to put money into a good Hard Drive & maybe the Steam Box & I can imagine Sony charging for that service & then having to buy each game you want to play on their own. I am waiting & see what Microsoft does but Im not liking Sony so far

Why does the share function need facebook?

and is it only so people can watch you play a videogame?

Please tell me that's not the case.

Now this make same wonder. A lot of people are saying it's a deal breaker, and that they might not buy the system, but I wonder how many people are already PS3 owners who only own a PS3, and whether this will make them jump over to Microsoft's next system, where you're most likely going to have to buy things again anyway if you're now shifting to that system.

They know.

Microsoft (& Apple) keep download history permanently in memory across products at the moment so I don't see why they wouldn't honour this stuff, particularly arcade type stuff. When I get new 360 consoles, new windows phones etc I can download anything that I've previously downloaded for free quite simply. All you lose is the save unless you have that on a hard disk/USB cloud. That's one thing I like about digital. Your game can't ever break permanently as you can just redownload it if there's a problem.

I care about backwards compatibility in theory, but in practice the only Xbox game I played on my 360 was GTA 3.

Well so far Microsoft has been pretty good with stuff carrying over. So they have the benefit of me waiting & see what they do. Microsoft can get the upper hand on Sony when they announce their next System quite easily

My point is that people are complaining about not being able to play a game they already own for their PS3, on their PS4 unless they pay for it. But if they go with Microsoft's system, they're still going to have to pay for it if they want the X-Box version. I can understand why a 360 owner would stick with them, but it makes no sense for a PS3 owner to jump ship, especially since they already own the game and system. It's not like their PS3 is going to be destroyed when they buy a PS4.

I don't think were on the same page here. So Blue Berries

I think even loyal PS3 & 360 users are open to a switch to the other once the particular loyalty bind that is important to them individually is broken, be that keeping to a release date (in my case), moving away from hardcore games towards casual/Kinect, banning used games, not letting previous purchases carry over, not featuring BC, requiring an always online connection etc. The consoles are very close to each other both this gen & likely next so they are ideal subsitutes. Once you take that hit of losing your history for eg you might lose your bond to that console & be back to neutral on the 2 going forward like I think you're saying. And from there many will choose the other just to see what they're missing out on or out of some small 'told you I'd move if you didn't address this' type of spite.

That's why I feel console makers should go for the big improvements while only slowly taking things away. Don't pull the rug out from under your guys or you might give them enough of a shock that energises this kind of move.

I agree with this. It's like taking away the backwards compatibility on PS2 titles. If PS4 can't do PS3, and I'm not rebuying PS2/3 titles, some people don't want to be console swapping all the time.

I love Oddworld, I hope thats what Just Add Water is working on. I'm still waiint on the Oddbox though. :o I haven't bought the HD releases yet because of that.

I hope my trophies carry over, its kinda like the history of games I've played. I don't want to feel it was all for nothing.

Microsoft has been pretty good with stuff carrying over? Huh? What do you mean? The 360 and maybe some Windows Phone and Windows LIVE or 8 stuff is all I can think you're talking about. Unless you mean transferring 360s.

Nothing carried over from the Original Xbox purchases. I bought some Arcade games. :(

I dunno...Maybe I'm just overly excited but Sony, as of now, has me. Microsoft is going to have to blow the doors down for me to stay with them. All the rumors about the Kinect 2 "watching" you and all that jazz...Add in always online and I'm just not a huge fan...

We'll see.

I see myself buying the PS4 day one then waiting for Halo 5 before picking up the next Xbox.
