Oh boy. 600 Euros here we go again.
The source that was right about everything PS4 related so far said 400/500.
Oh boy. 600 Euros here we go again.
Speaking of codes..With this whole thing about Sony confirming used games won't blocked yet not really giving an actual answer with details and still being vague..
I really believe Sony won't block all used games BUT will give game developers&publishers the option to block their own games,Thus codes being used But I also think you will have to use the code&lock your game..Online only
Everyone on the Internet What in the world was up with those four Bungie guys on Sonys stage?
I know, right? Weve been chasing the answer to the question from the moment we picked ourselves up off the floor and stopped laughing. Details are still murky, but from what we can gather Marty may have instructed our four friends to keep their hands out of their pockets. We also may or may not have a Mens Warehouse directly below our studio.
Youre going to love the way we look into the void.
From their idle hands ushered forth an invitation to a new community of gamers. Though this foursome clearly didnt appear enthusiastic or capable of experiencing any human emotion we are super stoked and incredibly fortunate to be able to welcome a whole new group of gamers into the Bungie fold.
They BETTER not allow any developer to make it mandatory for to be online in order to play their SP games. Im looking at Blizzard in particular here especially since that's what they've done on the PC
I think even loyal PS3 & 360 users are open to a switch to the other once the particular loyalty bind that is important to them individually is broken, be that keeping to a release date (in my case), moving away from hardcore games towards casual/Kinect, banning used games, not letting previous purchases carry over, not featuring BC, requiring an always online connection etc. The consoles are very close to each other both this gen & likely next so they are ideal subsitutes. Once you take that hit of losing your history for eg you might lose your bond to that console & be back to neutral on the 2 going forward like I think you're saying. And from there many will choose the other just to see what they're missing out on or out of some small 'told you I'd move if you didn't address this' type of spite.
That's why I feel console makers should go for the big improvements while only slowly taking things away. Don't pull the rug out from under your guys or you might give them enough of a shock that energises this kind of move.
IDA with this rationale. Those people wouldn't be jumping to the next Xbox to play their PS3 games, bc they obviously cant use that system for that. Going into next gen, if the PS4 had BC, it would be much easier to just stick with it with the existing games as an anchor. Without out that, everything is a blank slate and its easier to move onto a different console bc they wouldn't be losing anythingLike Spidey said, If people who already own a PS3 jump ship to the next Xbox because of no BC between PS3 and PS4 it's not smart. If you have a PS3 but no 360 then buying the next Xbox instead of the PS4 is still going to have you having to switch consoles just to play your PS3 games. People are going on and on about this and that being a dealbreaker for them but fail to stop and think that no matter what their old system is going to have to be hooked up to play their old games rather they buy a Xbox or PS4. It takes all of 1-2 mins to switch consoles out it's not that big of a deal.
Who said it was smart? Many people are not logical. It's quite common human nature to switch in an attempt to punish the one you're with for not delivering what you asked for. Really the 2 main consoles this gen and next aren't expected to be that much different to each other so the choices of people who switch are often down to them being pissed off with something their own guys have done, whether or not it actually makes the next console of their current provider weaker than their competitor.Like Spidey said, If people who already own a PS3 jump ship to the next Xbox because of no BC between PS3 and PS4 it's not smart. And let's clear this up PS3 games are incompatible with the PS4 same as PS2 games were incompatible with the PS3 not because Sony just doesn't care but because they keep changing the essential hardware that the game was made to run on. That also extends to the digital version of the game too. The only way Sony could make PS3 games run on the PS4 is to go and change the coding of each and every game to fit the PS4 hardware which would cost way too much money and time. THIS is why their has been no BC for the current and next gen. However, if Sony sticks to a PC-like architecture in their systems from now on then maybe BC could come back
Really, bc that's already been done this generation. Mass Effect wasn't immersive enough for you? Uncharted, Batman Arkham Asylum, MGS4 are all games from this game generation which achieved thatI really hope we see a revolution in how games are played and experienced. I really think this should be the generation where games really start to compete with movies in terms of storytelling and experience.
I think you need to actually go buy and play it before judging it. Uncharted was amazing. I don't get what you need to see from that game. I didn't play like a generic 3rd person shooter to me. The game, environments, characters, enemies, etc... had so much personality and life. I liked how ND evolved the gameplay going from 1 to 2 to 3 and make things feel more dynamic as they progressed, like with the melee system, enemy AI and how they responded to shots, etc...One of the things that's sort of put me off from buying any of the Uncharted games is that while the story's the games have seem to be amazing, the game-play is pretty much the standard generic 3rd person shooter game-play we've had since the PS1 days.
Funny you mention The Dark Knight, bc that was heavy on story and characterization but light on action and special effects. I think the Uncharted series had a more perfect blend of story AND actionI wan't to see games competing with the Avatars and The LOTR, The Dark Knight's for experience fulfillment.
But now this is where first party exclusives come into factor, which is why a lot of people and game journalist have been saying that both Sony and Microsoft need to go back to focusing on games. They both need to differentiate themselves from each other. All the social stuff is fine if you like it and I know they're going for the general audience, but its not what's going to win over people. The true gamers are going to be enticed by which games they like better, and they will convince others to get that system if they know someone who is undecided.IDA with this rationale. Those people wouldn't be jumping to the next Xbox to play their PS3 games, bc they obviously cant use that system for that. The problem here is: 1) You are comparing a smaller game like Uncharted to a longer game like Red Dead Redemption. Uncharted and most other closed world games like Arkham City are usually beatable in 8-12 hours. They're much more compact and characters have to go through so much storywise but do so much more in a short period of time. A game like GTA, Mass Effect or RDR, where you can spend as much as 20-30 hours going through them is a longer adventure with a much bigger world, therefore the story is going to feel a lot more deeper because the journey you go on is a lot more expansive. Now I agree, I would rather play a game that has open world, RPG features because there's more to do, but that doesn't mean what the other games offer isn't good either, which brings me to my second point.I just used Uncharted as an example. I've watched a lot of the walk-through vids because i like the story but drake's actions don't really mesh with the character they've set up.
That's one of the weaknesses of some (not all) of the video game today. Where they still have to follow that decades old model of hero has to kill x amount of NPC's to advance to x destination. I'd like to see more games expand beyond that, especially when it doesn't necessarily fit in with the story the game is trying to tell.
This past generation has had some games that do that well, the one's you listed were pretty good, i'd included Heavy Rain and Red Dead Redemption as a couple others that could compete with the movies in terms of story.
My point is I want to see games get to the point where the combination of gameplay and story told is arguably up there and beyond with any critically received blockbuster, not just in action but in story telling too.
They already have that for this gen. It should only continue and become more prevalent next genWith Sony focusing more on streaming&downloading,Anybody think they'd have day 1 downloads for new game titles on release days?
Exactly and with many countries putting a bandwith cap on internet, it makes it pretty much impractical bc games are only going to get biggerI think people overestimate how strong the internet is and how much it can handle. The next generation and possibly the next gen after that would not be ready for all digital on a worldwide standpoint.
