I know. I just can't wait to never use any of these exciting social interactions. :woot:
Did you ever use them before? You can still continue to just ignore them. I never bothered with the FB or YT integration. I do like that there is a dedicated button to taking screenshots and recording video now though bc it beats trying to capture something on my phone

They can take all this social interaction and shove it where the sun don't shine. Just give me some good games.
lol yeah. I don't give a crap about being able to play my game on my tablet or having facebook/twitter. The whole social media craze with gaming lately annoys me.

Youtube and Netflix are the only two apps I use. Sharing clips on youtube will be cool, but I don't care about the other stuff.

Same here. Youtube and Netflix are the only other things that I would use if I weren't play games on my PS3. All that other stuff just doesn't appeal to me.

I think thats one area Sony could improve in the next gen. To be honest when I got my PS3 back in 2007, the thing that impressed me the most was its capabilities as a media player. I dug all the multimedia features including streaming content from my PC, browsing the internet, being able to stick my camera’s memory card into the system to view photos, etc… It was a much better system for this type of stuff than the 360 back then but not anymore. MS has improved immensely and added so many features and apps, not to mention a more appealing user interface to go along with that, whereas Sony has progressed much more slower on this front. The only true leg up they have is bluray but that’s likely to change next gen . I hope they improve the PS4 as a media device player and make it a serious contender again bc the PS3 really started to lag towards the end. It’s the one thing I think MS has done better and wish Sony would take note of.

Anyways here's some pics of the UI and I have to say it looks MUCH better than the current XMB, which Im glad is getting retired

I honestly love the interface of the PS3 much more than the 360's Dashboard. If you aren't connected to LIVE your face gets slapped with this huge Xbox Live ad on each tab...

I kinda think of the PS3 as the ultimate entertainment device besides a computer. I play games or save movies to the system from my external hard drive, flash drives, or computer and watch them on my PS3.

I don't like to do any of that on my 360, maybe because Im afraid its going to die on me...my 360 is pretty old and is loud and gets hot quickly.

The thing about all of the social media stuff is that it extends well beyond the gaming consoles. Practically everybody, every public figures, every movie ,TV show and news station promotes facebook and twitter. It's only natural that Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo would want to appeal to people through those mediums as well.

I don't mind the inclusion of it because of that, but I don't like how the focus is placed more on that. Bad enough we have multiplayer being forced into a lot of games nowadays, but to see big chunks of time centered around sharing upsets me because I simply don't care about that aspect, especially since whatever cool use it might have will most likely be misused by people in the same way that you have to deal with little 12-year old talking crap in Call of Duty.

I'll only be sharing to my own account and maybe YouTube,So I won't be affecting anybody and content will be made for my own viewing pleasure,People on YouTube don't have to click on a video&bother to comment.

The thing is I don't see what the argument here. It isn't implemented into gameplay and you can ignore it if you choose. You don't have to use Youtube, Facebook or Twitter in order to enjoy your games and that's not going to be a required functionality in order to access them. All this social media stuff is an extra and a way to extend your gaming experience beyond simply the game, but its all optional. This is something being done on the backend and integrated into the system's firmware. Its not like developers are going to be wasting time focusing on implementing and thinking of creative ways to put that in their games. That was the case this gen with the PS3 as this type of stuff came later in its life cycle, but its going to be ready to go for every PS4 title with minimal work from the developer.

Nothing from the announcement made me want a PS4. All the games that looked interesting I'll just get for the next Xbox when it comes out.

Sony's Playstation Facebook page has tons of haters towards PS4 and most of them are Xbox fanboys,They are sucking up to MS and already praising Xbox 3&claiming it'll win when it's not even revealed yet,Their reactions will be very interesting IF even half the rumors on Xbox 3 are true.

Also..A lot of people are still b*tching about the PS4 console not being revealed yet,It's just a box and purely cosmetic since what matters are the games&specs

i really wish PS4 to have a good line up when it releases.
We got E3, TGS, and other gaming events to reveal many games.
hopefully it doesnt turn out into another wii u situation

Destiny, Watch Dogs and Second Son already look impressive for a launch line up.

edit: And Killzone I guess.

Killzone&Infamous are the only console exclusives for launch so far But the launch line-up with third-party games is looking great with Destiny&Watch Dogs and now Assassin's Creed IV.

Just saw this popped up in my fb news feed.

That is from a fan page. More then likely not real

Well I can confirm that's not real. That thing looks like it was easily made in Photoshop. Anyone with time and a basic handle on that program could whip something like that up. It straight up looks like a computer graphic and no an actual picture of a piece of device

I've been getting a number of those kinds of "Share and get something" scams the last few weeks (a few I've actually done) only to have them disappear from my profile and the fan page deleted. It's a scam.

As game consoles become more and more like PCs, I wonder how long before they just cease to exist.

Consoles will only cease to exist in the wet dreams of the PC Elite.

I'm looking back at PS4's specs and noticed it's 8 GB of memory!?,My PS3 slim has 150 GB and so how/why is PS4 just 8 GB at launch?

Memory, or RAM, is different than hard drive space.

Your current PS3 has 512 MB of Memory right now.
