I think a monthly option is being added with the PS4 I think I remember seeing it mentioned at the E3 conference.
No, they kept saying its less than $5 a month and that's with the $50 option. It will remain like that or the 3 month option which works out to $6/month. People should just be on the lookout bc it occasionally goes on sale for $40 (its currently that price at Best Buy with a coupon). Or Sony will do 15 months for $50 which works out to the same amount as paying $40 for 12 months. They'll probably do that again when the PS4 launches as an incentive

You are preordering a month after these became available. Hopefully for your sake you actually get one at launch bc theres a good chance you wont.

Yup. I got confirmation from BB that I will receive a launch PS4.

What in the hell is the actual release date for this system? I thought it was in November but my preorder on Amazon.com says December 31st. I buy all my movies and games from them so I do realize that a lot of times they're release dates can just be an estimate, but I'm worried that I won't get it in time for the Holidays.

As far as I know, there hasn't been an official release date for it, yet, just the end of 2013.

they'll save that date for a big event, most likely Gamescom or Tokyo Game Show

Apparently it's still very easy to guarantee a launch unit for both PS4 and XOne. I only pre-ordered at my store last Saturday and they said it absolutely means there'll be one waiting for me on launch day.

Hopefully thats the case and we'll see come fall but I have my doubts. It will all depend on how many units they can actually produce and ship out by then. The stores wont have an unlimited supply, especially if Sony does plan to do a worldwide launch. When the date and actual supply is set in stone, it will be those that preordered early that will get consoles first with those who wait, being at the back of the line.

I bought the original Xbox on day one, been paying for Xbox Live since its first release, etc.

Im getting a PS4 this year with PS+. Am I in for some good times, Hype?

I think and hope so. Now that everyone is paying to play online, the service will probably be as good or better than Live. I hope the community is also a lot of fun, because the first few years of playing on the 360 was great then it all went downhill from there.

The Gamestop I pre-ordered my X1 at said they were limited to 36 units, whereas the PS4 is unlimited and they had 100+ pre-orders at that location alone. I have no idea how they'll deliver on that day 1.

I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed bc of these unrealistic expectations

As far as release date, Sony will probably announce it come August.. According to a friend of mine (district manager for eb) Sony has very good production #'s for the ps4. No GS should be saying unlimited but the preorder limits all come from Sony. Microsoft has been giving some stores as low as 9.

They'll all know more about that though after their Gamestop convention in Dallas this August.

Sony will have had conversations with retailers and sorted out supply already. Amazon probably knows how many units its getting in stock at launch, as does Gamestop, Game etc. Hence why they can guarantee units still at this point in time.

I just think its unrealistic of stores to just say they will have unlimited stock at launch and a bit naive to actually believe that.

I doubt 100 units can even fit in their storage room, for GS at least.

Having worked for GS before... the store could be tiny but the back rooms tend to be huge. Like I said I don't think they should be saying "unlimited" and honestly that just sounds like something a goofy employee would say..

But Sony has always... always been generous with GS, our PS3 launch was pretty impressive a few years ago song wouldn't be shocked if they fulfilled the preorders.

unlimited is a dumb things to say.. But if a store has 50 plus reserved... expect them to fill it. We've done it before.
