Not God of War! Great! If yet another (sci-fi) shooter, hype deflated. No platform announced but maybe it's PS4, though Sony seems to be really pumping the PS3 releases this year and Vita is always a question mark.
SCE Santa Monica is a two team studio like Naughty Dog and Guerrilla are. I wouldn't be surprised if SCE Santa Monica is working on both a new IP and God of War IV since they have the ability to do so.

Didn't Ascension and the last handheld game underperform, though? I wouldn't be surprised if Sony put that on the backburner for awhile to refocus.

SSM has some form of involvement with Ready At Dawn on that The Order: 1886 game as well.

Sony's not dumb... They HAVE to know that a new God of War game wouldn't be the smartest plan right now. We got SO many GoW games on the PS3. GoW 1&2 HD..then GoW3, then GoW PSP games and stuff HD..Then GoW: Ascension..All within a short time span.

I'm sure they are working on GoW4..but I hope they take their time and make it something fresh.. Hell reboot it if you have to with a NEW character set on taking out Kratos or something...Make it fresh and new and gamers will care again. Give it a year or two after launch..show us some amazing new footage at E3..And people will be ready.

I'd love a God of War set in Norse mythology instead of Greek...

I wouldn't mind that.. I'd want some fresh gameplay too. If it's going to go that route (most obvious, IMHO) then I want someone that plays completely different from Kratos..If we don't get Kratos..and to be honest, he's such an unlikable jerk that I hope his story is done.

I also wouldn't mind if they totally got rid of the quick time events, but that's such a staple that I doubt they ever leave.

Their second team doesn't create their own games. They work with the indies and second party studios. We know they are helping with development of The Order

Nah, GOW shouldn't lose those. It tends to be the one franchise who use them well. People tend to hate on them a lot, but QTEs aren't bad in that rare case when they are used well.

PS4 Rift by Oculus EXCLUSIVE CONCEPT

Wow if Sony gets exclusive use of the rift, they win this generation.

What's the point of the rift?,Your watching games on big goggles instead of tv and why 2 separate screens?

It's like a modern virtual boy

I haven't tried it out personally, but everyone who has says it's amazing. It's like proper VR.

The point is, you feel like you are actually walking in the world, of whatever FPS game you are playing. Like Soapy said, it's proper VR, and basically everyone who tried it out says how amazing it is. And it wouldn't just be used for games, there are so many possibilities for the rift. Ever read the book 'Ready Player One'? If the Rift is a success, that could be a possible future where we are headed.

Imagine using the Rift to actually enhance school lessons. All you need is someone whipping up a VR program, and you can walk on the moon, or be part of any significant event of human history, during history lessons.

I won't get too excited yet because it's just a concept in the works. But it sounds really cool. I'm glad they're at least considering it.

Shu was asked about the PS4 supporting the Rift and he said "no comment" but he apparently had a huge grin on his face.

First-person..porn,Jk it does sound awesome after all

How much would it cost though? $1000?

I did some googling, and it doesn't look like it's out to consumer markets, yet. 2014 is when they're shooting for. It seems to me that price would be a potentially big issue, though. I'm guessing this technology isn't going to be cheap to make and utilize.

They are aiming for $300. But here's a great article. It's not guaranteed, but if they'd find the right business model, they want to be able to give the Rift away for free.

One Day, The Oculus Rift Headset Might Be Free

It's difficult to watch the endless Oculus Rift videos without a tinge of envy—it's not an experience most of us can have yet. Once it releases, the developers are aiming for a $300 pricepoint—which also makes the headset inaccessible to many people. That may not always be the case according to Edge.

Speaking to the developers of the virtual reality headset, Edge discovered that the developers would love to one day just give the headset away for free.

“The lower the price point, the wider the audience,” CEO Brendan Iribe stated. “We have all kinds of fantasy ideas. We’d love it to be free one day, so how do we get it as close to free as possible? Obviously it won’t be that in the beginning. We’re targeting the $300 price point right now but there’s the potential that it could get much less expensive with a few different relationships and strategies.

“You can imagine if Microsoft and Sony can go out and subsidise consoles because there’s enough money to be made on software and other areas, then there’s the potential that this, in partnership, could get subsidised. Let’s say there was some game you played in VR that everybody loved and everybody played and we made $100 a month – or even $10 a month – at some point the hardware’s cheap enough and we’re making enough that we could be giving away the headset. We’re not there yet, but we’re sitting there thinking all the time, how can we make this free?”

Obviously, all of this might be nothing more than a fantasy—or if it's possible, it won't be something we get to enjoy just yet. Still, it's encouraging to hear that one of the most exciting developments in gaming right now may also be one of the most accessible experiences, too.

$300 seems to be a bit on the lowball side to me. I don't know much about it, but it seems like it would be more than that, especially with how new the tech is. But if they're thinking of doing some kind of monthly fee via software, I guess, I could see that. If one day it'd be free, that'd be cool, too.

They've already been selling the developer version for $300. It will only get cheaper from now until they release the consumer version.

Now if only someone would start to develop some haptic gloves.
