The Official PS4 Thread - Part 5

Sadly no difference, I looked at how much space the digital copies took up compared to what it said on the box for games I own and they are one and the same. Not too worried about it right now since I still have some 400+ gbs left on my HD but it sucks knowing in the not too distant future I'm going to have to swap out the HD
I detest hard drive management. Filled up the biggest 360 hard drive years ago only from Arcade titles and DLCs and have been having to delete every time I add anything since. Downloading a full retail game on there (e.g. from Games with Gold) was such a pain having to delete 20 smaller things. I'm very wary of it this time around. If I didn't have to worry about the future implication I'd probably have a few digital games and films/TV shows downloaded on there already.

On my PS3 (500GB drive), to keep from having too much of an issue with hard drive management I always kept my hdd space above 100GB. When having that little rule it definitely helps with a little cleaning every once in a while.

You Can Now Remote Play PS4 Games with the Vita TV

[YT]TjAgdvgB5UY[/YT]

One of the coolest things about owning a PlayStation Vita is the ability to link it to your PS4 and play your PS4 games remotely. And now, with the latest firmware patch in Japan, the Vita isn't the only system you can remote play PS4 games on; you can stream to the Vita TV as well.

The Asia-only Vita TV is basically a small console that, along with the PS3/PS4 controller, allows you to play Vita games on your HD TV. Now with the PS4 link, it allows you to wirelessly connect to your PS4 through your home network and play remotely your PS4 games on any TV.

But does it actually work as advertised? Check out the video above to find out.

The PlayStation Vita TV was released in Japan on November 14, 2013. There is currently no word on a Western release.

So you could play your system at a friends house through this? That seems cool. would you guys buy this if they released it over in the western hemisphere?

Does anyone use the NBA Gametime app on PS4? I haven't been able to watch any highlights forever. It just tells me 'this video currently cannot be played'.

It shouldn't be an internet issue as Netflix works fine and the app used to work fine months ago.

IF they were to add an option where you can live steam privetly with friends or invite only then would anyone here consider streaming more often?,I live streamed DC Universe once and I like to check out streams sometimes but I don't use the feature,However I would maybe stream for my friends or accept a pvt invite to comment&watch

I also finally realized that my controller's vibration stopped working on me. I've been playing a bunch of inFamous and started wondering "Why doesn't this game have vibration? Wasn't there vibration when I first started playing it?" Looked it up and found that firmware 1.70 has a bug that turns off vibration upon first booting the system up.

It seems to be an issue for those who turn the system on with the controller. A workaround is to turn the system on through the front and then turn on the controller. Or when on the system turn off the controller and back on.

I knew something was up as I'm kicking all this ass in the game but it just doesn't feel like it :funny:

so if I wanted to upgrade my PS4 to a bigger HD, what's the best brand/type to use? how much would a 1tb HD cost?

would I be able to store my game save data and downloads onto a usb stick and then transfer them back in after I install the new HD?

I believe this is the one I bought: Seagate 1TB Hybrid, it's just under a hundred right now.

The cost will depend on whether you want an HD, Hybrid, or SSD, just make sure it fits the PS4's hd dimension requirements. There are plenty of comparison tests to show you the speed difference between the types of hard drives.

You can only transfer saved data. All of your downloads will have to be re-downloaded.

So I was dealing with an overheating issue because of a heat wave going on in the Bay Area. Learned some new things about the PS4 ha. The PS4 has a failsafe type of feature where the fans crank up if the system deals with overheating.

My PS4 got super loud for the first time recently (sounded like my PC when I burn DVDs) and I've had it since just before Christmas. Like I said there has been a heat wave in the Bay Area lately and I thought that may have something to do with it as my room had been scorching hot lately. My TV stand also wasn't really the best TV stand either (it was a wooden stand with two openings) and the 2nd opening where I kept my PS4 also had no opening in the back for it to breathe, eep!

I've had no issues with my system though but there was still a bit of concern from me if I wasn't giving it enough room to breathe. When the system started getting incredibly hot and loud about 5-10 minutes into disc based games and combined with my current room temperature it was time to change things up :hehe:

So I ended up upgrading my set-up from this:

Just some info for anyone who possibly experiences what I did  Make sure your system has some room to breathe folks, especially in the back.

Do you not have AC? After 2 YLODs, I would only use my PS3 when my AC was on pretty much all the time except winter

Id avoid Seagate. They used to among the best years ago but recent reports suggest that they have the highest failure rate now. I bought one on BF of 2012 and it failed within 9 months. I foolishly bought another one last BF and that one died within 3. The reliability just isnt good which is probably why they are so cheap.

We do have AC but the vents in my room are rather weak, they may just not work at all actually so I keep a fan running in my room most of the time and a window open. A week ago though, it got extremely hot in my room, but I also needed to clean some things out as my room was getting pretty cluttered with stuff and that probably added to the heat.

Feeling the top of my PS4 at the time after only 10 minutes of playing it got so freakin' hot, nearly to the point of having to take my hand off the system because it was burning. Then I researched and fixed the problem. I thought I wasn't giving it much room in the beginning but it never gave me issues until last week.

This is all good to know when I plan on getting a PS4. I thought I was giving my PS3 plenty of room until that same heat wave last week. Looks like I should be taking the panels out of the back of this IKEA stand.

Weird I always use my controller and haven't had that problem yet. Is it only from coming off of a fully turned of PS$? I always keep mine in standby and never had a problem with the vibration

Well, I usually always turn off my PS4 when done so I don't know about the standby, I'm assuming the issue's not present if coming from standby.

Second Son is really fun! If this is showing off how great games can be on the ps4, then I'm very excited. It is gorgeous and the gameplay is incredibly fun and diverse. With all the powers, it really seems like this could only be done on a next gen system

Anybody have a good updated calendar of confirmed games being released this year?

I'd circle October 14th and say you're good.

say.....any word on a Youtube app for the PS4??

I felt the opposite. I thought inFamous 2 did more with its console than Second Son did. I wasn't overly impressed with anything about SS.

Has anyone had any issues with battery life on their controllers? Mine seems to die pretty damn quick.

I loved second son as well.

No problem with my battery, especially since i can dim the light.

Dimming the light has helped me a lot

Hm, iv dimmed the light as well and still feel I'm charging that controller more often than I should be.
