Is there a big difference when connected to the internet by a Ethernet cord or wifi?,I use wifi for everything

FYI, you will be able to download and install a game a week in advance of it's release starting with Destiny. Once it's midnight of the release date, you'll be able to start it right up.

I'm not sure if that will be with every single game, but I know the PS4 will start to do that with Destiny as the first one.

Actual game installations or just the update files and game downloads?,A whole week in advance to do everything and start playing the full game right away at midnight would sure be great and make going all digital a way better decision!

PlayStation Now Prices Are Currently Insane

Sony has added prices to the beta for their PlayStation Now streaming service, and though these are experimental numbers—it's a beta, after all—the current prices are insane.

What's more, as of right now, PS Now beta testers actually have to pay to play games. If I want to test out the service, I have to dish out crazy amounts of cash.

Here's how much it costs to rent Final Fantasy XIII-2, which came out in 2012:

$5 for four hours! $30 for 90 days! You can buy the whole game on Amazon for $17.

And here's Guacamelee:

Why do you have to pay $15 for a 90-day rental when it costs $15 to buy the game on PS3?

Other games cost similar prices, which seem to be based on when they came out.

There's a little note on the bottom of PlayStation Now that reads: "Game titles and features shown are for testing purposes only. Not indicative of the final price." But anyone who's in the beta right now has to pay these prices. I just tried to rent Deus Ex: Human Revolution and had to pay $4.99 for four hours of the privilege.

And it looks like prices like this could be here to stay. From the PS Now FAQ: "The upcoming Open Beta will test multiple pricing tiers and rental durations. You will see shorter rental periods prices as low as $2.99 and most titles are between that and $19.99. More information to be announced later."

Granted, Sony has promised that they'll be offering some sort of subscription program when the service actually launches, but at least for now, don't bother with the PS Now beta unless you've got a fat wallet.

Those prices are crazy, only way I would play that is one flat fee a month

I can only hope those are... temporary.

But even with existing digital prices, it seems like they have no idea what these games are actually worth in stores, or online.

I don't know if they're just clueless, or greedy.

Either way, **** you, Sony.

I don't see the issue? The 4 hour option is definitely weak, but the vast majority of games these days could easily be completed within a week, and $7.99 doesn't seem like a bad price for a one-time playthrough.

Well it all depends but most games aren't worth an $8 pop over and over again. You really could buy most of these games online for what they want of you are that serious about it. Like I said it would be worth it for a flat fee like $29.99 a month for unlimited everything. I'd be down with that

They are charging $15 to rent Guacamelee when it costs $15 to own on PSN and as mentioned in the article some other games are in fact cheaper to own right now

Those PS Now prices are atrocious. Makes me glad it's just the beta phase. I'm sure many gamers are lighting a fire under Sony's asses for this and we're probably gonna see a cheaper plan.

I was hoping for a subscription plan like Netflix,IF it's going to be per game then it should be way cheaper than the actual price to own,Guacamele costs $15 to own and so streaming up to 90-days should be $5 or 10 at most

See, I can understand why they can't do that, because game companies would probably be much less likely to agree to licensing deals.

But these prices are still absurd.

They really need to think about who their key demographic is here. Ya it's a cool think you can stream it with just a controller and no actual system in the future but I don't think this is really for young kids and casual gamers. The people who are going to use this the most are going to be hardcore gamers that are on a nostalgia kick and want to play their old games that they love. I'm sure once more parents realize they don't have to invest in a system and it's cheaper than buying a game at $60 a pop then the demo will start to gear more towards them. But push come to shove the service will fail if they really try and push this pricing

Having been doing some reading, I notice that there seems to be an odd difference in fan noise with this system. I don't know if it's a production run issue, but apparently people report their consoles either being "whisper quiet" or approaching fat PS3 levels of noise.

I really hope this is an issue that is resolved by the time I get mine in September.

How have people on here made out?

my PS4 has been pretty quiet overall.

don't know if I would classify it as "whisper" quiet.

oh, and I've been hearing reports that they are working on a big UI update ( over 100 people working on it ).

anyone else hear more about that?

hope it's true and the update is coming soon.

Interesting. Would you say it is quieter than a PS3 Slim? Fan noise that is, not disc drive noise.

Pretty much everyone says the disc drive is dead quiet.

Mine is quite as hell but I always have my tv blasting so I doubt I would hear it either way

I am rather particular about this sort of thing, but I find the huge discrepancy interesting.

I found the original PS3 to have a very loud fan, but it didn't bother me because it was constant (much like the 360 Arcade). As a result, you can't hear that annoying noise the disc drive makes. The slim had a less loud fan, but a distractingly noisy disc drive, which annoyed me. The super slim had an even less loud fan but an extremely noisy disc drive. I am still getting used to it, but it's so constant, you almost get used to it. Takes me back to my Dreamcast days.

I am very impressed by the Xbox One reports. Everyone says it is silent. But the thing is so enormous, I suppose the sound just gets lost in the space.
