I doubt it. Its not like BC saved the PS3 early on. Ironically that system didn't take off until Sony removed it, which of course coincided with a price drop, but the premium the original systems had wasn't enough to make the masses flock to it.Ironically whoever had BC might have won this war (or at least would be leading the pack at this point).
Though given the wonky architecture of the PS3, that may not have even been an option, unless they wanted to design a new console only an idiot savant could work with.
PS Now will probably give gamers something new to laugh about for the next ten years.
I think Microsoft definitely regrets the decision though. It would have actually given them a leg up on Sony. Their attempts to emulate Xbox 360 games on the Xbone don't seem to be going well if the internet rumor mill is to be believed.
BC only matters if you already owned a PS3. To all the 360 converts that Sony has tried to bring over, it means diddly squat. To that Sony can just re-release their old games and sell them to the new gamers coming over to their brand. Ditto on the MS side. I know for me, if I were to get an X1, I would not care if if had BC bc I never owned a 360, therefore don't have any games. Id rather play new games being made for the X1, rather than hit the bargain bin for games from a 9 year old system.
