Ironically whoever had BC might have won this war (or at least would be leading the pack at this point).

Though given the wonky architecture of the PS3, that may not have even been an option, unless they wanted to design a new console only an idiot savant could work with.

PS Now will probably give gamers something new to laugh about for the next ten years.

I think Microsoft definitely regrets the decision though. It would have actually given them a leg up on Sony. Their attempts to emulate Xbox 360 games on the Xbone don't seem to be going well if the internet rumor mill is to be believed.
I doubt it. Its not like BC saved the PS3 early on. Ironically that system didn't take off until Sony removed it, which of course coincided with a price drop, but the premium the original systems had wasn't enough to make the masses flock to it.

BC only matters if you already owned a PS3. To all the 360 converts that Sony has tried to bring over, it means diddly squat. To that Sony can just re-release their old games and sell them to the new gamers coming over to their brand. Ditto on the MS side. I know for me, if I were to get an X1, I would not care if if had BC bc I never owned a 360, therefore don't have any games. Id rather play new games being made for the X1, rather than hit the bargain bin for games from a 9 year old system.

The PS3 cost 600 dollars.

If the PS4 cost 600 dollars, it wouldn't matter if it could play PS1, PS2, PS3, and Xbox 360 games. No one wants to pay 600 dollars for a console.

If the Xbone could play GTA V on launch date though... this war would be going very differently. Well, maybe not because they would still have the Kinect.

The PS3 launched with a $500 and it didn't matter.

As usual, we disagree.

When games like GTA V only come out a year later for the PS4 and Xbone, it does matter.

Well, I would recommend doing it sooner rather than later. I suppose if you never use it, then... that's up to you. But you should get what you paid for.

Sadly it'd gonna a be a while before I get what I paid for. I haven't even turned my PS4 on in a month, and I likely won't be turning it on until AC Unity and Far Cry 4 comes out. There are no games I want atm, and besides games it doesn't do a whole lot.

Ironically I've used my PS3 more since I bought a PS4. It's got USB support, mp3, I still have a significant backlog to play, I watch Netflix on it, it's my main blu-ray player, and it has a dang media remote like any sensible entertainment system. I don't even have PS4 hooked up atm. It's a glorified paperweight until the last week of October.

IA. I just traded in Watch Dogs and I don't plan on getting a new game till LBP and AC in Nov. Maybe TLoU and/or GTA V if I can find a good deal on them. Ive found myself using my PS4 for a few weeks around a release of a game I want and then turning it back off to go to my PS3 for similar reasons you mention.

None of your guys are getting Destiny? I enjoyed the beta and I'm looking forward to that and The Crew.

I bought a PS4 because it was the best time for me financially to buy. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have bought the PS4. I have yet to buy another full game for it. I've been waiting for Infamous and MLB The Show to get cheaper. I'm liking the betas, and the PSN games though.

I knew before I bought it that since this is the first year of this gen that things are going to be a work in progress. I feel like by 2015 of Christmas would be the best time to get a current gen system. You'll have plenty of established games for systems. But for now, things are going to be slower for both systems which is why both have invested so highly in indie games so far.

I pre-ordered the Destiny bundle. Not that I particularly want the game. I will play it though.

Well, I've put off buying Watch Dogs until I get mine in September. I'll probably get Tomb Raider and Last of Us around the same time.

While the PS4 not having a media remote is annoying, the built in headphone jack in the controller would make it my go-to media player.

I've been on the Destiny bandwagon way before it was cool. :p

Alpha. Beta comes next month. The game is heavily built around co-op and while I found the game to be cool, I am not a co-op person. I'll play the beta and see if that sells it for me

Being an online only game kills my interest personally.

Co-op is the only form of MP I play anymore. Ill make an acceptation for Halo.

Well, I may not get Live or Plus (if I get a PS4) this time around to begin with, so it may not be an option. Barring that, though, I don't really have a strongly rational answer. I generally associate online-only with MMOs. And while I know this isn't like that, my mind defaults to games heavy on co-op experience with little fun had playing solo. Not that have anything against multiplayer experiences, but my preference has always erred towards the single player experience.

I like a good single player experience.. But I am all for playing co-op with my buds.

I am, too. I like playing multiplayer stuff, but something that's only multiplayer. Eh, not my thing really.

Well.. It's only online.. Not only MP. I ran by myself for a while in the Alpha. When there were big instance stuff.. That's when more people came in.. Afterward I went my separate way. Just think of them as NPC team mates. :)

I may give it a go if I actually get Live and/or Plus.

If you get a PS4 I'd say you owe it to yourself to get plus. Outside of Steam I think it's the best value in gaming.

People sometimes talk about single player games with forced multiplayer, but this seems to be the opposite. Its a multiplayer game through and through. You can do aspects of it by yourself but thats not how its meant to be played. From what I played in the alpha, I could see the value and fun with it playing co-op but doing all that solo, can get old real quick

yeah but I also have a busy life. I dont have the time I used to, to heavily get into MP focused games. I prefer to play games at my own pace which is why I prefer single player experiences.

I understand.. But the option to play by yourself is there. Like I said I wasn't always grouped and to be fair the Alpha was just a way to bring up some hype for the game. I'm hoping that the Beta expands on this.. Show us what we CAN do by ourselves. If it's less then I can totally understand why some people wouldn't be all for it.. However if it's you only need to be grouped for instances and whatnot.. Then no deal.

I don't play online much anymore, and when I do its by myself. My days of playing online with friends is probably over. The only game I really play online now is Battlefield, I try other games but usually only play them until I get the trophies or something. I largely have turned to single player games, but I will be trying out Destiny...by myself. I love Bungie's past games and the universes they have created.
