The most best feature that it does is that if say your sibling or room mate comes in and wants the living room tv, it won't be a problem for you cause you can just head to your room and if you have a tv there you can continue to play your games from there as shown with this , here are Details the vita tv it's a video not a article

And that's what I'm not clear on: Taking it to another room is nice I guess, but can I take it somewhere else, like out of the house or somewhere far away on vacation? Or does it have to stay paired to the PS4 console to work?

I'm glad Share Play is coming this year after all

now that the X1 will be getting USB media playback, I'm really hoping that feature is part of the PS4 2.0 update.

they said more features to be announced so......fingers crossed.

I doubt that'll be the case. it'll be like what nintendo has with it's game pad with the Wii U you can play it at any other place with in your house range wise the only difference with it is your using an ordinary tv cause the vita tv is a streaming device .

But from Matt the rep from sony stated to Vic in that video that it's like having two ps4 in your house cause of the vita tv. as shown in the video.

So those that want a sorta co-op play with say Destiny they can do that.

not sure if it'll be like steam where you can do stuff/ play with the data you have from your console on say your buddies ps4. I don't think those details were stated.. Yet any way.

and didn't the remastered version of Tomb Raider sell better on the PS4 than the X1??

Every multiplatform TR game has sold better on a Sony console. All the ones released for the PS3/360 most certainly did as was the case for the Remastered

I think the PSTV is like a Vita you can plug into your TV while having streaming capabilities, as long as you have a internet connection for both the PSTV and a PS4 you could take the TV anywhere and play your PS4, depending on the internet connection. There is no proximity limit that I know of and it can do everything the Vita can do like play certain Vita games, and hopefully PSP and PS1 classics.
Ok thanks guys, I guess I'll need to wait 'til more details come out because the ability to take it anywhere my PS4 is not (that is, anywhere I can get an internet connection, well outside my house) will definitely be the determining factor of my interest in it.

Yeah, I know it was speculation and should have said so. My point was that the whole marketing thing could kind of explain SE's motivation? It's the only suggestion I've heard that makes it sound like a not-terrible decision on SE's part, lol.

Yea, MS has one hell of a marketing team. I don't have any data, but id be willing to bet that the amount of money MS spends on marketing its titles, is well over what Sony and others do.

People need to get over the whole "bad business decision" nonsense on SE's part. SE is more than likely being compensated for the lost sales of going exclusive. SE prob comes out on top. They get MS to float most if not all the advertising costs AND MS pays them for the game to be exclusive. SE is the clear cut winner in this deal.

IMO, MS is the loser here. As i said before, no way they recoup the money they just spent.

I just think it's weird that the internet is like "MS NEEDS MOAR EXCLUSIVES FOR ME TO EVER BUY ONE!!!"

MS gets major exclusive..Internet reaction..

"BOOOOO! THEYRE HURTING US!!! WAY TO GO MICRODOLLARSIGNOFT!!!"

I hope it stays on XB1.. And remains on XB1.. Like how I hope that MGS will return to Playstation as an exclusive only. I still believe that it's ok and good for these companies to have exclusive titles that make people want to go get said console because they feel left out.

LOL. Bingo.

Exclusives are good. Had it been a new IP, there wouldn't have been remotely as many complaints. I like Platinum Games' games, but didn't complain when they announced a new IP as an X1 exclusive. Tomb Raider was a multiplat game though, which was well received, but apparently didn't exactly perform to expectations. So what's the next logical step? Make it exclusive to the platform, that is being outsold 2:1 by the competition.

Doesnt matter when MS more than likely paid for the lost sales. I mean thats prob what it took to get SE to sign on. They prob had a number in their heads and thats prob the number MS needed to match in order to get SE to give up the ability to sell this game on other platforms.

I don't know why this is so hard for some of you to understand. Its really, not that difficult. Take your "feels" out of the equation and look at it like a damn adult.

exactly.

if the TR reboot had been an XBOX exclusive from the start, there'd be less complaints.

Maybe now. But had that of happened, we'd see the same whining we are seeing now from the Sony fan base. People would be saying the EXACT same thing. 'But, but but, Tomb Raider has always done better with Sony platforms. Why are you making it just for the 360 blah blah blah'.

Like I said, people are complaining because its coming to a system they don't like or own. If the tables were flipped, ALL the people complaining over this would be saying, 'well Tomb Raider always has done better with the PS4, so yea this makes sense. Good job for Sony snagging a big time exclusive'.

There's nothing hard to understand about this. Making it an X1 exclusive gets them tons of money, because MS compensates them for their losses. But so does releasing the game on every available platform.

But one option pisses off 2/3 of the community, and will eventually hurt their sales, should they decide to release it a year from now on other platforms. By then people will be over Tomb Raider and be focused on other games.

yeah, its why I think timed exclusives in this day and age are stupid. I scratch my head when I see companies that still do it

Thats why i said take the "feels" out of it. They don't give a s**t that theyll "piss off" a bunch of sony fan boys. They're getting compensated(most likely) for all the missed sales by not being on that platform. If anything they'll just end up better off in the long run when the game does go multi plat. Sony fans are gonna by the thing any way and SE will still have the check from MS from all the potential missed PS4 sales.

The only thing difficult for me to understand about this situation is why MS thought it'd be good, finically to do this.

Don't be so sure about that. If it comes out a year later, the thing will be old by then and there will be many more newer titles to be interested in. Year plus old ports generally do not do as well. Its an arrogant mentality to just assume, "oh well, they'll just buy it anyways whenever we get around to releasing it"

If the game comes out to high praise and review scores, they'll buy it, without hesitation. Maybe it only does 1 mill instead of 2, but people will bite. And like i mentioned in the other thread, thats money on top of what SE was already paid by MS for the exclusive deal. SE wins no matter how you spin it.

I agree that the ones least likely to recoup their investment on this is Microsoft. I still don't think it's a good idea in the long-term for SE, either, because whatever MS paid them, I seriously doubt it would cover ALL the long-term losses for it not being available on the platform that's outselling the other by a 3:1 ratio, but if it's a timed exclusive, then fine, I can understand their rationale. But Microsoft? That's a hefty cost for a game that's never been a blockbuster for them.

if anything, this Holiday season will surely be more competitive than last year. there's tons more games out, some nifty bundles, and the consoles are competing with features.

SOE Live 2014: Studio to stream convention for free

SOE Live's streaming schedule is up for this week's convention on the official Twitch channel, and fans of the studio have a very good reason to check it out: It's totally free.

SOE announced today that players will not need to spend any money to watch the convention's 20-plus hours of livestream coverage. The stream will begin on Thursday evening at 10:00 p.m. EDT and continue off and on through Saturday night.

If you really insist on giving SOE money for this, however, the studio will bow to your demands. SOE is selling a SOE Live Digital Pass upgrade that will deliver to the buyer a 7-day Landmark beta key, a Twitch chat badge, several emoticons for the Twitch channel, and in-game items for both H1Z1 and PlanetSide 2.

were any of the sony games at gamescom revealed to be coming out q4 this year? were any of them AAA titles?

if the answer is no to both questions but more importantly the second, then this holiday season's competitive lead has already been given to microsoft thanks to the halo connection.

It does seem really stupid. But we don't know what Microsoft offered them.

They have some very deep pockets.

microsoft paid a good amount for those GTA4 DLCs, and back then, no one ever fathomed that they'd ever see the light of day on Ps3. microsoft even called a strategic alliance with r*.

and they turned out to be timed exclusives as well

BTW, I meant to ask, has anyone here had a defective PS4?

I've heard a lot of stories, so I'm a little nervous. I've already had bad luck with the Wii U this generation.

Hoping they'll have worked the kinks out by September.

Yes I had/have one, sent it in Friday and just waiting. Had mine since launch then in the last week of June it started shutting itself off in the middle of play after only being used for 20 minutes to an hour. Sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't even turn on until the power had been pressed about 5 times. I'm glad they are under one year warranty.
