Okay could someone here who has a PS4 just go to it, take out the game, put it back in, listen to it for a few minutes and describe what they hear?

I would be very grateful.

Save me several phone calls to India.

Okay, this is odd, and I realize I should have done this immediately, but my PS4 is completely different with Watch Dogs.

It makes the briefest noise, and then is completely silent.

Could my Destiny disc be defective?

Sony Computer Entertainment have partnered with Unity Technologies to offer Unity Pro for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita to licensed PlayStation developers at no cost, the company announced today.

Unity is a widely-used cross-platform game-creation suite. It is already offered for free alongside Wii U development kits, and will now be available for free to PlayStation-licensed developers as well.

“We are very happy to begin offering Unity for our PlayStation® platforms at no additional cost to developers,” said Teiji Yutaka, Senior Vice President, Division Deputy President, R&D Division of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.

“Some of the most exciting and high quality games are being created in the vibrant indie community. We’re happy to help ensure all developers have the same opportunities to create wonderful new experiences for our powerful PlayStation platforms.”

Some examples of games that use Unity are: Oddworld: New‘N’ Tasty, BroForce, DEEMO and CounterSpy. Naturally, there are many more, as Unity is widely-used by the indie community as a convenient means to develop games across multiple platforms.

Sounds like the Destiny disc is warped. Id exchange it for a new copy.

Wait what?

So this is normal?
are you exaggerating the hi speed spinning noise?

I get the sound I described to you. Sometimes it is louder than usual but it doesn't stay that way for lengthy periods of time and I don't think anything of it.

does the game run ok?

also, for those of you who have Ds4s in particular the white ones, does it look like the front & back frame are sorta splitting on them?

Yes, but that is normal. I got a black controller and it has the same thing.

Well, I contacted Amazon and they're sending me a new bundle. I tried to tell them it might just be the disc, but they're sending me the whole shebang.

Apparently they've had so many defective PS4's that they redid their entire exchange policy.

Comforting thought...

Impeccable customer service though.

wow!! that's good service!!

do you have to send your original bundle back?

Yes. I assume they will send it to their people to be inspected, and then it will be either sent back to Sony, or possibly sold as used.

Sony has this rather dubious policy of sending people used – refurbished PS4's, if you send in a defective one under warranty. And refurbished means "good enough / not obviously defective". Hence the horror stories of people getting 7 bad PS4's in a row.

From what I've gathered, Amazon deals with a lot of this crap. They currently have a feud with Nintendo, because Nintendo refused to publicly acknowledge the hinge design flaw that has plagued a lot of normal 3DS' (like one of mine). Which obviously sucked for them, since people kept shipping them back.

For a while, they actually advertised the Vita if you looked at the 3DS on Amazon.

I think it's cooled off somewhat, but I believe Nintendo still doesn't sell straight to Amazon.

:) That exactly the kind of customer service Ive long since come to expect from Amazon. I love dealing with them. I rarely have need of their customer service but its always been great every time.

Oh and I just found out that NC is rumored to be getting an Amazon warehouse in Charlotte, NC. Know what that means? One day standard shipping for me!::D

All I can say is buy from Amazon, but maybe get an Xbone.

I mean, this is a fairly minor problem, but I have really had it with Mumbai.

I mean, Sony.

wow. didn't know that about Nintendo.

well, as long as they send you a replacement bundle. hope the next bundle works out better for you.

probably should have just kept my X1 last week, but I chickened out at the last minute. :halo:

but, they say good things come to those who wait. so, I think if I wait a bit longer, there will be better deals and a better system.

Boy I hope so. This generation is not off to a good start for me.

I might get a Bone on Black Eye Friday, if the price is right.

yeah. I might buy it again if there's a really, really good BF deal.

But, I'm really hoping they announce a standard 1 TB model before Xmas ( before BF would be even better ).

I'd go for the limited edition CoD one if it weren't so fugly ( and I'm not a CoD fan ).

just don't want to buy a 500 GB model, knowing that the internal drive isn't upgradeable ( unlike the PS4 ). with a 1 TB drive in there, I wouldn't have to worry about space issues.

rather wait and even pay a bit more for a 1 TB standard model ( $450 would be about right ).

Same here. Im not investing in an Xbox with a non upgradable 500 gb harddrive. Thats just asking for trouble what with some game installs being over 50gb.

Im surprised the system was released with anything less than 1TB. Its sold as a multi-media device but 500 gb isnt enough to accommodate more than 10-15 games alone. They must have realised this would be an issie, but needed to save money and opted for a 500gb HD. Which is expected. Launch models are always underbuilt. You can bet the house that the 2nd gen (slim) Xbox One will have a larger HD.

Well, I think it's safe to say it was poorly conceived.

I do expect a standard 1 TB model in 2015, if not by the end of this year.

Honestly though, it's really not that big of an issue for me. Even if it can only hold 15 games at a time. I am not going to be playing 15 games at any one time.

Would I like more? Sure. But, it's not a deal breaker.

Looking back at the first gen PS3, its insane that those shipped with 40&60gb HD. The new Wolfenstein game would fill that up by itself.

The PS3 was a marvel in a way. A total disaster financially, but it was ahead of its time.

It was the first console with HDMI support, wireless internet, rechargeable controllers, and blu-ray support.

if the games installed as fast, and let you play as fast, as the PS4, then yeah, it wouldn't be as much an issue.

just keep 3-4 games active and installed at any one time and delete the ones you're currently not playing. or transfer those to an external drive for "off site storage."

if MS can get their install times down to parity with the PS4's install times, then I might reconsider a 500 GB model ( with the option of getting an external drive in the future to store stuff "off site." ).

but, ideally, it would be best if they offered a 1 TB drive.

well, since a 1 TB model is coming this fall ( the CoD version ), it would seem likely that a standard version shouldn't be too far behind.

I'm sure there are many consumers like myself who want the 1 TB drive, but not the CoD inspired design of the console and controller.

so, if demand is great, I'm sure they will release a standard 1 TB model. and getting it out before the holidays would be smart.

and I'd imagine Sony would follow suit with a 1 TB model of their own.

Were I in the Microsoft boardroom, I would suggest this.

Release a black 1 TB Xbox One, bundled with the Halo Collection with a month of free Xbox Live. No gimmicks. Just that. 499.

if the Halo Collection is actually a disc and not a download code, I'd buy that!!

For 499 it better be!

I think this may happen, though I fear it will be butt ugly like the Call of Duty bundle. Maybe have Master Chief's face plastered on it.

Learn from Sony, Microsoft. They may make a defect-riddled console, but damn does it look sexy.
