So is six hours with dimming?

Cause a controller that has to be charged every six hours... kind of sucks.

At least the Wii U Gamepad has an excuse.

Prolly more. Since I dimmed mine I know ive got at least 6 hours out of it. During my Last of Us addiction last month Im pretty sure I had an 8 hour session. So with dimming 6-8 hours of battery life is my guess. Its far from great, but 8 hours is ok for me cause if I play any longer than that my eyes feel like theyve got spikes in them. The 60fps in Last of Us helped a ton with that tho.

I have two controllers that I use in rotation. The battery does drain faster than the DS3 but I rarely feel the effects of that bc I just switch out one controller for the next

Feel wise, this is my favorite controller yet. Which I didn't think was possible after loving the 360 controller so much. This one is just the right size and weight. And I love the trigger buttons. Just feels very all around tight and streamlined.
I must be in the minority, but I like the controller light. It helps me when I'm playing in the complete darkness. I can use it to find stuff near me. lol

Be interesting if someone did manually disconnect it, and then see what the difference is.

I'm surprised no one's done that.

For 50 bucks, I'll just buy a long ass cable.

But hey, if you're rich, why not.

The DS4 is actually $60 but it has nothing to do with being rich. I actually got my second one for $30 before launch. Couldn't pass that up

Does anyone actually buy **** for MSRP?

30 is pretty damn good though.

Controllers are $59.99 in store and I dont buy used so if I did want another controller thats what Id be paying. Thankfully Ive never had to buy a controller for any of my systems. The PS3 controller Ive got is the one that came with my PS3 Slim in 2009. Thing is still going strong. Im hoping my DS4 will still be going strong in 4 years.

If I do manually disconnect the lightbar Ill let yall know how it goes. Im gonna give it a look when I get home and might open it up just to have a looksee and decide whether its doable.

Unboxing Sony's White PlayStation 4 Bundle

[YT]Kav0mmPKh6c[/YT]

I had a black PS2 and PS3, now I really want this white PS4.

Good news, the lightbar is connected to the board in the controller by a ribbon. The ribbon unplugs easily enough so I don't have to cut any wires. I'm gonna unplug it and put it back together and I'll let y'all know how well it works and whether it increases battery life.

EDIT: Ok so I unplugged the ribbon and put it back together and everything is working normally. Word of warning: there are four screws holding the controller together as well as a number of clips. It take some slight prying to get the clips to come loose. Go slow and easy and you shouldn't break any of them. Also, the R2/L2 triggers have a very small v shaped spring in them. When you pull the controller apart if youre not careful those things can fly out and then your triggers won't work. Those springs can be bought in any hardware store tho. Just avoid taking this thing apart over carpet. You'd prolly never find those springs if they fell on carpet. Now to see how long this thing holds a charge with the light off.
