heh. I know the feeling........:o :oldrazz:

do you have any other games for the PS4?

Diablo 3 was pretty fun.

Infamous?

Last of Us?

Legend of Zelda??

war thunder and minecraft and ghosts and that's it, for now.

was that last one supposed to be sarcastic

lol

Agreed about the charging cable, Thunder. The one they give with the console is an absolute joke.

The battery life and charge cable doesn't bother me..but that's because I don't play a whole lot of hours anymore(I will soon though)and leave my console on stand by with the controller charging,I also leave it charging when I use apps like netflix..which is very often

I have had an odd thing happen. Yesterday, I had a power outage while play Destiny fairly late at night.

Now, when I turn on the console with Destiny inside, the disc keeps spinning for some time, even after the game starts. For about a minute, the disc drive makes noises that I can really only compare to a dentist’s drill being started (very short, but noticeable). But they do stop after about a minute or two, and then the PS4 is dead silent.

Before the power to just hear the disc drive for a few seconds as the game was opened, and then silence.

It seems to only do this with Destiny.

Is that… normal?

After the noise stops, the PS4 seems to be fine.

Your disc drive sounds like a dentist drill? Of course that's not normal

I'm being told it is. Apparently that's the reader, it's just a bit loud. The odd thing is that it didn't do that before. I just heard the disc drive reading steadily, and then it stopped. These higher pitched noises are new. But apparently some people have that happen as well.

I'll keep an eye on it. But if anyone else can describe the noises their machine makes as they start a game, that would be appreciated.

my PS4 might get a bit louder when it starts a game, but it doesn't sound too extreme or alarming.

I've got a weird problem with my Ds4s.

I'll be using the analog sticks and sometimes it seems when I push them left & right, my camera/character looks more left & right than I want him to and more recently, not at all as much as if I cannot even move.

Anybody else having this problem?

Non existent. Thats how id describe the noise when I start up a game. The machine is incredibly quiet. There is the faintest whirr for half a second as the game first spins, then ALL you hear is the machine running.

hey guys, I found a workaround to the length of the DS4 charging cable.

I was cleaning out my room and found a 6 ft USB Extension cable that I never opened.

so, I decided to give it a try. I plugged the DS4 charging cable into the extension and then plugged the extension into the PS4.

sure enough, the controller icon on screen indicated it was charging and the extended cord was long enough for me to sit away from the tv while the controller charged.

so, next time I'm gaming and the DS4 battery is low, I'm going to hook it up to my now extended cable and charge it while playing.

btw.....the brand of the extension cable was Rocketfish. similar to this one:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/rocketf...664685&st=rocket fish usb extension&cp=1&lp=3

:hehe: I thought that was pretty basic knowledge :oldrazz: I own about 4 different usb extenders, 2 of them in both my ps3 and ps4.

But then again my PC is close to my gaming area and so I've never needed to use it for charging my controllers, I mainly use it for USB memory sticks and the headset dongle.

After the noise stops, the PS4 seems to be fine.

The only time my disc drive is ever loud is with some DVDs. Both my PS3 and PS4 get loud when a DVD is beginning to spin. Thats normal tho due to the higher read speed. Blu-rays shouldn't be running loud. The disc may be slighty warped or have a thin spot which would throw off the balance and make it wobble in the drive creating the whirring sound.

Some sound is not abnormal. Discs spin fast. As long as you dont see any scratches or tracks being worn into the disc it should be fine.

Is you PS4 still making the noise?

also, what's your PSN ID? I can add you to my friends list. Mine is Raven8XE.

I've decided to stick with the PS4 vs the X1.........lol.

Remember those light bar decals we talked about a while back? Mine came in a few days ago. Got Batman for one controller and Superman for the other (whenever i get another controller). I've put the batman one on and it looks really sweet. Easy to apply and easy to remove too. :)

sounds like you've had some defective controllers.

I'd take your receipt and the controller and take it back to where you got the new bundle ( Best Buy, right? ) and explain to them the situation and that you think the controller is defective.

you just bought the new bundle, so you should be able to get a defective item replaced.

I have the receipt but I already opened it up & everything, would they really do a full exchange for me?

well, since it's part of the White bundle, I'm not sure if they can just replace the white controller or if they have to replace the whole thing ( PS4, D24, Destiny ).

Have you opened up your copy of Destiny yet? if you haven't that's good.

Also, do they even sell the white DS4 by itself? if they do, you may be able to just get the controller replaced ( hopefully ).

generally, if an item is defective, and it is within the return period ( I believe it is 15 days at Best Buy ) you as the customer have the right to return and replace a defective item. even game/software that's been open, if it is defective, you have the right to ask for a replacement if it's within the return period.

I would definitely call your store and talk to customer service. explain to them the situation and ask if you need to return and replace the whole bundle or just the controller.

if they don't sell the white DS4 by itself, you may have to settle for a black ( or different color ) controller.

btw......did you see my Xbox thread post yet? (hint: I won't be an X1 owner for too much longer. :cwink:)

edit: It looks like they do sell the white DS4 by itself. So, I would definitely ask them if you can replace your defective controller for a new white DS4.

and yeah they do sell the white dualshock 4 standalone

I haven't opened destiny yet but I hope this doesn't mean I gotta bring ALL my **** back just to get a new Dualshock 4. The Ps4 runs fine besides that freezy glitchy **** which I guess is just a thing about Ps4 so I wanna keep everything, I just need a new controller.

yeah. hope you can just replace the controller. I'd definitely call them first and ask before packing the whole thing up and bringing it down to the store.

cuz, y'know, they could be all sold out of the White bundles, too.

I'm at work but I'll call them right now. The only other thing about this is the fact that the Ds4 in the bundle didn't come in its own box. It just came in a wrap. If you saw my unboxing or any other video, you know what I mean.

But let's see what the rep at bb says.
