nope, i'm going into the log out menu then choosing standby. and unless there's apps running without my knowledge it is just the game that i was playing and that was it. if this keeps happening... ugh. what should I do?

is the game still running when you go to stand by?

did you have this issue with your prior PS4?

try closing the game before you go to stand by ( or make sure the game is closed ).

try shutting the whole thing off then restart it and then go to stand by ( without opening any game or app ).

I'm not sure if the game is still running but should it matter? I guess that's another matter I should bring up which is, is it better to have the Ps4 completely off when not in use, or in standby

And I honestly don't remember if I had the same issues with the black one. I think I did, but just not as often. This happens pretty much every time I shut off my Ps4. But yeah I'll try the shut down/restart/standby you're suggesting when I get back to my dorm

I can only speak for myself. but if I'm not going to be using the system for a long time, I'm going to shut it down completely.

if I need to download something that will take awhile ( like DCUO, for example ) or charge my controller while I'm not there, then I might leave it on standby.

I have to admit as superficial as it is another reason why I leave the **** on standby is because of that orange light

same here. Ive pretty much been turning on my PS4 once a month and that's to download the Plus games. No need to keep it on standby

yeah. I can see if you are going to take a break and get something to eat, then resume gaming in an hour or so, leaving on standby makes sense.

Huh... this is weird.

Apparently other people are reporting similar concerns with their "Destiny PS4".

"Hey guys, I also got the Glacier White PS4 Destiny Bundle at my local BestBuy during the midnight launch, and like some of you I get a weird high-pitched noise from my PS4 whenever I start up Destiny (I don't have any other PS4 games besides that one so I don't know if it's just destiny or it's the console itself). The noise does eventually stop about 3-4 min after the game starts up, but I just want to know whether that is in fact normal, or if this could be a defect in this specific PS4.
Note: It doesn't make any noise until I either pop the disc into the PS4, or start it up from the main menu if it was already in the PS4.
Note²: After speaking with PS4 Tech support, they mention that the disc drive spins the disc really fast whenever you insert the disc and then slows down after a bit. Can anyone tell me whether their PS4 (either White or Black) makes an audible disc spinning noise when inserting/starting up a disc based game, and then stops soon(?) after????"

hm, I don't think I've heard of such an issue but this combined with the disc ejecting thing and my triple beat, its clear the Ps4 is the less reliable system of this gen, just like 360 before it and the Ps2 before it. So you've been playing destiny and have been having this problem, thunder crack?

to be quite honest, I'm kinda regretting having a Ps4 (now). being the broke college student I am it is kind of a huge distraction and I didn't need to have it this instant. And as much a fanboy that I am, the thought of getting an xbone instead has been tapping into my mind, but

1. I'd want to get the most out of it, that means getting the kinect bundle which is $500.

2. I already have a PsPlus account, that would mean having to make a gamertag and fish out another $60 for a gold membership

I'm good with my Ps4 man. Just gotta get some good grades & make all this **** worth it. oh, and also have a job lined up for meself after graduation t:
