word yeah I thought I was the only one to notice that. I got premium avatars from journey the retail edition and LBP2 special edition and I had to log into my Ps3 in order to change it to a different one.

You know what else I don't like, on the Ps4 it doesn't tell you how long ago your friends were online, and you also can't put up a catchphrase like you can on the Ps3. WTF?

when I got the X1, the 4 year standard extended warranty was $160. So, 2 years would be $80.

The standard warranty doesn't cover accidental damage ( like if you spill something or drop something ). I believe the accidental coverage was $90 for 2 years.

So:

2 year Standard - $80
4 year Standard - $160
2 year Accidental - $90

I'd imagine the same prices would apply to the PS4.

yeah. the avatar thing is just so weird. it seems to be a simple matter, yet it hasn't been corrected yet. and it's little things like that that just build up your frustration level.

I mean.....what if you sold your PS3, then you're totally screwed and can't change your avatar to any of the premium ones you've bought.

plus.....premium avatars and themes on the PS4 store = more money for Sony.
 
and essentially if I break my Ps4 in any way shape or form without the warranty I'm SOL and gotta buy a new one @ full price?
 
Well, I just packed up my second PS4.

It's been a crazy ride.

Maybe when the PS4 Slim comes out, I'll give it another go.

yeah.....stuff does happen. and if you break something by accident, then you have to accept the blame for it.

if you're worried about that, that's why you pay extra to get an extended warranty. and why you pay even more to get the accidental coverage.

I try to be careful with my electronics, so that's why I skip the extra accidental coverage and just get the regular extended warranty.
 
I would also look into your credit card. I tend to skip buying warranty bc my credit card offers it. I dropped a brand new iPad Air at the beginning of the year and my CC paid for a replacement. I made an exception this month when I bought warranty on a set of Bose headphones I purchased. Every headphone Ive purchased in the past has gone bad so I figured if Im going to be spending over $100 on a good one that Im covered when that ends up happening and can just go to the store to pick up a new one
 
I'm actually curious to see what a normal PS4 behaves like. For some reason accounts are so different.

Everything from whisper quiet, to jet engine fans, to disc drives that make no noise.

For what it is worth I have had a ps4 sences the day it came out and haven't had a problem yet knock on wood has I am on my 3erd gamecube and 2nd ps3 and have had issues ever sences I got my wii years ago and my ps4 makes more noise then my ps3 slim but my slim makes like no noise and my ps4 is more quit then my first fat ps3 was. So my ps4 less noise then the fat ps3 but not has quite has my ps3 slim.
 
Let me ask, when you start your PS4 with a game in it, does the disc drive make loud reading noises for 5 minutes? Even if you don't access the game.

I will test this out again tonight, cuz I currently have Last of Us in my PS4.

but, no, I don't recall hearing anything like that before.

but I will let you know what I hear later tonight.

hey, you mentioned you like Mass Effect. Do you like the Dragon Age games? Planning on getting Inquisition?

Also, does that game make your fans kick on? I'm just curious because I found that very odd.

I played Destiny and Watch Dogs, and although the former made odd disc noise, none of them every made the fans audible. The moment I started up Last of Us, my PS4 fans became PS3 loud.

I think I mentioned that the other night.

when I start up the game, it makes the soft "whirring" noise for 30 seconds or so, then you can hear the system "power down" and it goes quiet.

didn't hear any fans or anything. or at least nothing loud enough to notice.

again, I'll test it out again tonight and let you know.

I love Me2. I liked Me1 but I only got to play it once and I thought Me3 sucked.

In fact I thought it sucked so much I'm kinda part of the bandwagon that doesn't want to support bioware anymore because of it. However, my friend who was telling me about it ever since I played Me2 was telling me about dragon age and how it is similar to mass effect except in medieval times,

I was like, meh, I'm really into that sci fi - alien stuff so that's another reason why I'm so into mass effect. maybe i'll check out dragon age inquisition but I gotta see the reviews first.

Coz I can't say that doesn't matter to me; the very reason I bought Me2 was because of all the rave reviews it got, and boy thanks to EA did I finally get to see what I was missing out on.

ah, fair enough. I hope Inquisition is good and gets good reviews. it's like my single most anticipated game of the whole year......lol.

and what really sucks is that it was supposed to come out in just 2 weeks ( Oct. 7 ) but got delayed to Nov. 18. :(

I like medieval fantasy stuff more than sci-fi, and I really liked Dragon Age Origins ( the 1st game ). Dragon Age II, though, was a let down.

so, I'm cautiously optimistic about Inquisition.
