Ya Samsung does make some of the best. My past three TV's are Samsung's. My current one is the 64 inch Samsung Plasma, the last Plasma they will ever make. Great TV. One tons of TV of the year awards.

I didn't quite follow that sorry. You're saying Sony's TVs are better than Samsung's but Samsung are basically the new Sony when it comes to TVs?

I haven't bought a Sony set for a long time but I'm considering it for my 1st 4k (or possibly 4k film projector if I can afford it...probably not right now actually) as they have 4K films downloadable/installable on hard drive already and I want to see if this PS TV thing is good. Samsung have overtaken Sony's position on TV's sure. I'm not sure who makes better TVs overall now but Samsung's have definitely been better value for a fair while.

yeah man pretty much. back in the day sony was synonymous with quality but ever since the ipod they've started taking the backseat to that. apple is its own monopoly or what have you but as far as most consumer electronics go nowadays, samsung has taken over what sony dominated in, with televisions and (now) smartphones. sony tried keeping up with them but lsot a lot of money investing and trying gain ground in the smartphone business. this video goes over it briefly but mainly talks about sony's hurts

and these videos detail how easily sony makes the best tvs. well, i guess it goes on perspective. sony's more natural and samsung's more saturated, but people LIKE that saturation.

however, I really wonder if the XBR65X900B's "X-tended Dynamic Range" feature adds the saturation samsung's been doing.

Um no. Samsung makes among the best tvs in the industry

um no they don't. sony makes the best but samsung's just way bigger in the television industry now than sony is. so the general perception is that samsung's best.

actually, maybe there's more depth to it than that. samsung definitely makes quality tvs perhaps, and perhaps THE best quality tvs, but sony's tvs still have the best picture, and that's the most important thing in a television which makes sony > samsung

I find both to make excellent television. In fact, I've never had a bad television.

yeah definitely. there's a lot of good tv brands out there. toshiba, lg, sharp, even philips upped their ante.

vizio still sucks though. that's more of a budget brand.

Vizio doesn't get enough respect, imp. I've got a 55" Smart TV from Vizio. It's great. The UI is clunky and the remote hardly works (luckily I use my surround sound remote), but the quality of the tv itself is quite good, easily comparable to more propular brands.

That being said, I do have my eye on a Sony 72"...

i beg to differ man. i've got friends with vizios and they kinda do suck, i'm sorry. and in the hallway i see guys with the same size tvs with different brands, and they're way better.

and yeh, i got my eye in this here

havok, i do not doubt that samsung makes really really good tvs. i'd be a fool to think something like that. but i still stand by everything else i said as well, and had videos to prove it

Those are older. Samsung's latest Plasma (and last) the one I bought won over Sony's TV's. You just can't look at one model and say...see better. Samsung has some better models than the one you provide.

sony's main objective with resolutions is natural colors, samsung's is saturation. a lot of people like the saturation and that's the key here. my cousin has a 46" led samsung and he explained to me that when he went to purchase the new television, he was told and found for himself that sony's colors on their televisions were more accurate but he didn't care because he liked the saturation that samsung tvs come with.

Having a weird issue since the 2.0 update. I can play my 3D vudu movies in 3D...but when I popped in my 3D bluray of Avatar it would only play in 2D even though my tv is set to 3D. 3D support for blu-ray seems to not be working.

they have a 2.01 update now, i'm assuming you've downloaded that?

That article is pure click bait garbage. Sony if anyone has long-term sustainability. Their many in house devs are more proof of that than anything. I hate articles from unknown sites like that just doing anything to get attention.

yeah i had a feeling the article was crap. or at least written by someone biased. i found it initially from a youtube video

Tried share play with a friend last night. I was able to connect to his console and play shadow of Mordor, but he wasn't able to connect to mine.

i haven't tried it yet but i wonder if xbone will come up with their own version of it

yap

everything bolded in the quote i quoted corresponds to the list of games i wrote in my post (my predictions on what those devs will show off)

The EA/Disney event may show a few things, but I have a feeling the main thing will be Star Wars Battlefront. Or maybe announce the other two SW games being worked on. Next to Bloodborne, Battlefront is my most anticipated game of next year.
