It was a just a straight re-release of FFVII, not a full remake. Well, I think Havok mentioned in another thread that it was thought to be the PC version, which was slightly enhanced.

when I saw the blurb on IGN, complete with an hd looking Cloud picture mind you, I was thinking "OMG!! It's Really Happening!!"

then I read the article and I'm like.........

I also liked what we saw of Until Dawn. Fans of Heavy Rain will appreciate that. Although I hope its more deep than what was shown. It better not just be a series of A or B scenarios

Liked what I saw so far. Really want SF5. I'm about to game out and not sure if I want to do GTA V or Dragon Age. Leaning towards GTA though

Square has got to just be f***ing with us at this point. I refuse to bellieve a company of that size is this stupid. It really has got to be some kind of joke for them OR they are just truly a**holes. Watch them finally release it when I'm in my 60's and a generation of old people are responsible for the most expensive relaunch in history

FFS7 was released for Ps3?

It was re-released as a PS1 classic.

You do have to wonder why they don't just remake the game with Final Fantasy XV like graphics.

Because it would take 10-15 years, and would be way more expansive than a mobile or handheld remake that would probably sell just as much.

Like I said, no way in hell Square is this stupid. Dollars to donuts they have had something in the pipeline for a long while and are just waiting to drop it. Wouldn't be surprised if Sony and Square are in cahoots to do an HD PS4 exclusive remake and Square has had 1st crack at the ps4 tech since it was in development. Maybe something will be done on the 20th anniversary in 2017?

Possibly. I still think they have something up their sleeve.

A modern remake would break the bank. Hell, I'd buy it.

to be fair, it's much easier to do an HD remake of X which already had "realistic" character models.

VII had those chibi sprites. So, they'd pretty much have to redo the entire game to go from

to something like this:

they're entirely different character models. and not only that, they'd have to redo the NPC and enemy models, as well as the environments to make everything look more realistic.

iow.....they'd essentially have to redesign the entire game from scratch.
