The Official PS4 Thread - Part 8

I originally bought Skyrim for the PS3. got it release day, too.

I remember when I started the game, on the title screen, I pressed the button to start a new game, then the "fog" screen came up and the Skyrim music kicks in........and it sat on that screen for like 5 minutes.

I figured it was loading something, so I got up and did something else, came back like 20 minutes later, and it was still on the same ******* screen with the music still playing.......

yeah..............buggy.

IMO Bethesda and glitches are synonymous. They release broken or incomplete games and then let people buy it and play it while they attempt to finish it. So I just wait about a year or more before buying an Elder Scroll game.

I finally started playing Skyrim on PS3 a couple weeks ago and it's not glitched so far. Seems they have worked out most of the problems. The game is still pretty ugly on console tho. Especially compared to some of the gorgeous modded PC versions.

Ya, Bethesda games are usually glitchy, especially at launch. I never really had many problems with it. But as there are with most giant RPG's there is bugs all over the place. To me it's just part of most big RPG's. PS3 had problems with Bethesda games because of the cell processor and the architect. It was hard for devs to do. All the devs now say actually the PS4 is easier to develop for. So I'm sure this time around there won't be the glitches that haunted them in the past.

Constantly getting delayed. I don't think we'll get it until it's F2P. I fully expect a console announcement to go alongside a free to play announcement.

ah.

if it's still subscription based, I won't have interest in it. so, hope it does go F2P.

Some of the glitches are hilarious tho. Inside out lady in Fallout 3 had me rolling.

Didn't feel like dealing with craigslist BS so I just traded my games in at gamestop. Didn't get shafted too bad. Got $43 for NBA 2K15, $15 for Infamous SS, and $8 for Black Flag. Used the credit to get NHL 15 which is a freaking dope game.

I think the janky nature of Bethesda's games is a big part of their charm.

Also hoping themes can have custom wallpapers too

We need the custom wallpapers! That was one of my favorite elements of the PS3

So is it known if we can now delete stuff from our library? I hate having a ton of stuff I had downloaded before but already deleted still show up.

Due out this Tuesday as part of the 2.00 system software update.
PS4-Share-Play-Intro-Vid.jpg

Sony has released a walkthrough video of Share Play, a new feature coming to PlayStation 4 in the 2.00 system update this Tuesday, October 28.
With Share Play, friends can watch as you play, take control of the game, or join you in multiplayer, whether they own a copy of the game or not.
If you want your friends to play your new game or help you get through a tricky level, you can press the Share button to give them control of the game and watch as they play for you. Or, if you want to play your friend in a multiplayer match, you can bring them into your game.
Watch the walkthrough below.

I am so ready for this update :D

My friend and I have been naming off which games we want to try through it or to watch each other play :funny: My first title to try this on is Injustice as my best friend doesn't even own it so it'd be cool play each other through Shareplay.

Hopefully there's no issues or terrible lag that occurs :hehe: It's interesting thinking about so many people possibly trying this feature on Day 1.

I'm looking forward to Tues to finally try out the new update.

however, I do hope once 2.0 hits, the updates will become more frequent.

I mean, now that we're getting USB Music Player, we shouldn't have to wait another 3-4 months to get.........USB Video Player or DLNA.

or, now that we're getting themes, we shouldn't have to wait another 3-4 months to get the ability to use our own pics as background or the ability to use/create custom themes.

I agree with X, I may not be as vocal about it but the Ps4 has been severely lacking in features, a lot of the things that make a the Xbone a better living room/entertainment center, and a lot of that is easily fixed through updates. They should come way sooner from now on.

also, the Ps4 is outselling the xbone at around a 6:4 ratio.

agreed.

and it may sound like I'm constantly ******** about it......lol.

but it's so frustrating because these are relatively "simple" things that should be easy to add. that's why I'm so vocal.

I mean, it's nice we're finally getting USB Music Player. but, couldn't you have easily bundled the music player with a video player and picture viewer all into one media app? with DLNA coming in the next update?

and now that we'll be able to change themes, that means that technically we'll be able to go into a setting and choose a different background picture. but it seems we still can't use our own background images ( cuz there's no picture viewer app yet ).

and what about more Avatars or the ability to choose our purchased PS3 Avatars or an actual PS4 Avatar section in the Store?

and the UI still seems largely untouched. still no folders or "pins" to better organize content.

no external hdd support. although, it seems there was a "backup feature" initially announced with the 2.0 but then they backtracked.

and again, a lot of these features are things that the X1 has or will have in the next update.

as a PS4 owner, and one who chose the PS4 over the X1 last year, it's incredibly frustrating to watch the X1 get all these features through constant, frequent updates month after month.

I'm on the edge of "jumping ship" and getting an X1. I'm very torn, cuz ideally, I'd like to stay with the PS4. There's no reason why the PS4 can't be an all-in-one media console in addition to being the more powerful gaming console.

so, I'm willing to give Sony some more time and give them a pass with this update. hopefully, 2.0 will lay the foundation for more media features and more UI changes. and hopefully these updates and changes will start coming out sooner and more frequently.

but, it's hard to deny that each month the X1 is becoming a more attractive option. and with the upcoming holiday bundles and sales......well........
