Jane is just a very likeable guy in every role. He was solid as the Punisher but I don't think he owned it like some of you think...or he'd still be there. Snipes "owned Blade". How the hell can you top that? Harrison Ford owned Solo. Stallone owned Rambo and Rocky. Jane should be an A-List actor he's got too much talent and charisma not to be.

He wasn't fired from the project. He left. Mainly due to Lionsgate not having the balls to make an R-rated, Taxi Driver sequel.

Balls? I don't want a Taxi Driver sequel. I want the Punisher. Let someone else make a Taxi Driver film but this is called The Punisher. That's exactly the issue. Lionsgate and Marvel had a different agenda for the character than Jane. So all the script bashing was based on a conflict in his ideas and the studios. Jane said he left but it's more of Lionsgate not willing to meet the demands of Jane. So yeah he left but Liongate didn't care. In fact they got it together pretty quick with a good director, good actor, and they have solid writers in place and the script doesn't sound too far off from what Jane wanted as far as the tone. They're just not making Frank Castle...Taxi Driver. I think alot of Thomas Jane fans were so busy worshiping him they didn't ever consider that maybe he could have been wrong. I like the direction it's going but will also continue to watch the 2004 movie because I enjoyed it. It wasn't good enough though to build a franchise out of that would ever make any money in the theaters. They had to reboot it like The Hulk. Daredevil reboot is next.

Duncan is returning as Kingpin, but he played a good part. I think he was the best actor in that movie. Him and Colin Farrell.

what the hell does taxi driver have to do with the punisher anyway? i love the film, but it's like 90% psychological and 10% action and the punisher needs way more action than that. besides, the characters are very different and travis bickle isn't nearly as awesome as frank castle.

Taxi Driver spent a lot of time developing the world around the character through his eyes. We saw New York through Travis Bickle's perspective and I think that is something Tom Jane wanted out of a Punisher movie.

He wanted Taxi Driver and the Punisher to be Bickle. He said that. "I want Taxi Driver" and that was from an audio interview not a misquote. I'm all for a remake of Taxi Driver...just not disguised as The Punisher.

^ It's more of I'm NOT against it. It doesn't effect me if they make it nor does it effect your or the original film. If they make it and it sucks...oh well. If it's great than yeah for Hollywood.

It's always surprising to me when people don't really check their e-mail, or don't read news on the web... but I'm willing to bet there's still tons of people just don't consider it essential to their day to day life like (probably) most of us do.

I like Jane as an actor but I was against the casting of him as the Punisher from the get-go because I thought it was working against type. You can't have a guy do some training and dye his hair black and thinks he's gonna be the Punisher. Like you wouldn't go and pick some random actor, build him up in a gym and let him talk hard to play Dirty Harry Calaghan: you just go and pick somebody that's gonna BE Harry. That was Clint Eastwood. Same situation with Frank Castle. The new guy already seems a lot more tougher and meaner looking than Jane so that's already a big plus. And he can act too.

I didnt think that way about Jane at all. He was in good shape but did not look very tough if you ask me.

If I could choose between. I don't know my Lt. I had in the army and Ray... I'd gone with Ray. and the Lt. was about 1.65. maby taller. I'm almost 1.80. Size don't ****ing matter.

Ray looks intimidating. Yes. I'm more worried about people who doesn't look intimidating... Head butt Ray in the chest and he'll go down. Then break his ****ing arm.
Jane you'd go... "What the hell is he going to do?" and He'll stab you in the ****ing face!!!!

Take this serious and I'll bunch in the scrotum.
