Comics The Official ROGUE Discussion Thread

Yes the new outfit is great....although X-treme X-men sucked......she did have a good outfit....of course her classic is the best.....I thought the her outfit in her solo series looked great....

The covers for the TPB Going Rogue were absolutely beautiful and so were the covers for the TPB of the fourth Gambit series called House of Cards. Both worth drooling over.:yay:

I loved her hair on the cover. I have the TPB. It looks more natural and sophisticated than her nineties hair, though I loved it.

Her hair doesn't have to be big like it was in the late 80's and 90's. If her hair is drawn straight it should be short like during her early x-men years and like in xtreme x-men. If her hair is drawn long it should be thick and wavy or curly. Long straight hair parted down the middle is too much of a 70's look and there's nothing fascinating about it.

I really like Bachalo's take on her in X-Men....so cool.

Rogue does look awesome right now, but I miss the earlier days.

I don;t know, i like the new costume, shows elements of leadership that exist in her personality. But that yellow adds something 'spicy' to her:oldrazz:

I'll always be partial to the green and yellow outfit. The trench coat was perfect and it coordinated with Gambit's. I do dig her personality right now. She always had it in her, as Carey suggested in a past interview, but she probably didn't have enough faith in herself to be 100% confident and take-charge like she is now. I love that girl, and Gambit too, he's so hot.

I wonder what will happen to her as a result of being infected with Strain 88. Last time we saw her, she was supposedly dying.

^I think the new look is great becaue of the mystery of it.....

I love Rogue's new costume (but that cover on the last page of Going Rogue is just disturbing. Since when does Rogue have jutting hip bones? Did she go anorexic during her solo series?), and the entire overall character of Rogue for the moment.

I have a topic for discussion, however.

Rogue and Mystique, together in current comicdom? What do we think of this? Can they have a real relationship as mother/daughter, and if not that, friendship?

Also, the mutant Mystique brought in as a love interest for Rogue, Pulse? What about him? Do you think they should've used him more? They spent several issues setting the entire plot device up, then abandon him as soon as the comic changes hands?

I'd personally like to see him brought back. With Gambit out of her life for the moment, I think a new "thing" between her and someone else would be nice to see. I love Gambit and I love Rogue, but sometimes it's good to see them interact with others.

Besides, I liked the character of Pulse. I found him oddly Gambit-like, but not.

well i don't think mystique is sticking around long enough to break rogue's image of her so i doubt there will be any movement on that front.
i still hope she's doing what she did with pulse only with iceman because those two as a couple doesn't look right. I think rogue should make an identity outside of gambit- you can have one without the other and not expect the other to turn up at some point

Are you implying there should be some kind of Rogue/Iceman pairing?

Because all I can say to that is ICK.

I'd like to see Rogue go it alone for once.

Hell, maybe Mystique could stick around for a while. Might be nice to see her have an actual PLOTLINE instead of just being a device used to further other characters' own stories.

i wouldn't mind rogue/iceman he's a good guy and probably her closest friend there. I want to see her treated right by a man. the whole mystique/ iceman pairing is ick for me.

I thought Rogue and Iceman were pretty good in the mid 90s and really wanted more to come from that. Id love to see them at least reestablish their friendship

As far as costumes go, I hated her look in her solo. The trenchcoat was just bad and that costume looks so much better with the bomber jacket. Her current one looks alright but its just a variation of her original and thats outdated. She does need a new one

I actually loved Rogue's look in the solo series. The trench coat so cutely coordinates with Gambit's. She should maybe wear a black leather number or some version of her X-Treme X-Men outfit. But I am partial to the yellow and green outfit.

No Iceman/Rogue pairing. He couldn't handle her as a girlfriend. Only one man isn't afraid to touch her and loves her no matter what, and that man is Gambit. He has shown her more love than any one else, and she has done the same for him. Yes, they have pushed each other away and hurt one another, but they both have a lot of emotional baggage and deep past hurts. Remy really does know how to treat a lady, despite being a confused young man. And he's way hotter than Iceman and a much better fighter.

Of course Iceman and Rogue should be great buddies. I don't suppose Mystique and Rogue can have a real mother/daughter relationship. The only thing I can forsee for them is a tenuous alliance. Mystique doesn't know how to have a normal relationship and her meddling in Rogue's life doesn't do her any good. I am glad though that Mystique has saved Rogue's life, but she also nearly killed her at least once.

Yeah, Pulse got dropped like a hot potato. But I'm glad he's gone. He was too much of a contrived plot device.

You see I think Pulse had potential and I liked him from the little bit we saw. Id love it if Carey had kept him around and expanded on his character

I thought Pulse was cool until he declared himself a professional wuss. It was so ridiculous and over the top, something only Milligan would write.

I have one question; why do writers have to screw up other men that might get involved with Rogue? Some handled the Joseph story OK (but in general i never really liked that thing with Joseph), but he whole ordeal with Pulse was just crap. It is something i don't remember, unless i reread the comics (which i dont want) or i read about him in a forum.

I think what killed 'Pulse' was that fact that he is a thief like Gambit. Hello! What he hell was Milligan thinking of when he created him? that Rogue has a tendancy for thieves??? Gimme a break!:o

Oh, sweet babies, I adored Joseph. ADORED. I loved him and Rogue. They had a such a rhythm to them, nice and mellow compared the frantic passion of Rogue and Gambit.

I want, WANT, Rogue to have some sort of relationship with someone not Gambit. I understand, they're SOUL MATES to some people, but I need a break from some of the angst, dig? They're keeling me.

Pulse could have been great. Yes, the thief thing was contrived, but he had a great sense of humor and spark. Everyone is played as so serious in the comics as of late, it was nice to have a bit of lightness in there.

He was also very cute.

I'm hoping someone picks his character up again in one of the plots to be. I vaguely recall that he is one of the few mutants still with powers and still at the mansion.

Still, with the series changing hands, I've little hope.

On the costume note, I LOVE Rogue's current costume, with the cape and hood? Very melodramatic.

They should have let Gambit and Rogue have a smoother relationship in the past few years. They keep putting in angst to keep things interesting, but they should have cut it out. There is no one else for her. She's made up her mind and so had Gambit. He'll make it up to her someday and she'll stop being afraid of love.

Pulse wasn't creative enough of an idea and he wasn't in the comics too long.

Carey is awesome and has come up some of the best writing in years. He's written Rogue brilliantly and promises to do justice to Gambit. Things are getting better.

I don't 100% dig Rogue's outfit right now, but it fits better than her yellow and green outfit. It's a bit too sunny for right now.:yay:

I was thinking about the discussion that's been going on about Rogue's powers. I thought it would be cool if Rogue could use her main absorption power in reverse. In the game X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, she had a move called energy overflow where she could exude a kind of energy blast and she could also heal herself and the other characters.

not all relationships are built on good looks and fighting abilities:oldrazz: We don't know if bobby could handle it until he is given the chance. And as for who would win in a fight iceman has gambit owned!
