Comics The Official ROGUE Discussion Thread

No more love triangles. It's been done too much. Rogue will get her man back someday. The head guys want that.

Not to sound argumentative, but where did I say Rogue can't survive without Gambit? My point was that either way I think Carey can handle both situations (whether they're together or not).

You didn't its just when you said there will always be a love triangle with gambit. Why? Why can't she have a relationship without gambit getting in the way. Why should he have to factor in at all. They aren't together anymore. He shouldn't be expected to turn up when rogue has a major storyline.

is there a link to the head guys saying that? Which head guys are these? Last thing i read about rogue gambit and romance was in the letters page of an ultimate comic where the reply was along the lines of - if rogue took gambit back america would not be happy.

Don't waste your time. She is delusional
and will never accept that they are broken up, done with,
seprated or whatever else you wanna call it, LOL

No more Rogue & Gambit, now deal with it :woot:

Because I've been reading comics for 20 years and every time there's a potential love interest whether it's Belladonna or Joseph...or even Foxx/Mystique or Pulse, it's always involved both Gambit and Rogue in the triangle. Personally, I hate that because Gambit to me isn't the jealous type and he always looks like a tool when put into that situation (same with Rogue) but unfortunately it's always happened. I see where you're coming from, don't get me wrong, but I'm really over the whole triangle thing. If it's written well then that's fine, but that's where I stand with it. I like both characters a lot, so if they're together or not it doesn't bother me as long as their well written.

To put it short, both characters can move on for all I care...it's just the whole petty jealousy thing from both characters I'm worried about that can resurface, but anyway...

Fact is that it looks like both Rogue & Gambit have more serious and more interesting issues to deal with ...both leading opposing teams and are pretty much in the centre of a major crossover...I like the direction they're headed so far, it's all good IMO.

I am not delusional. The final word hasn't been spoken on anything. No one knows what will happen. I can only go by evidence of what has happened so far. The relationship did go on for about 16 years and no one has decided to end the Romy romance for good.

The head guys didn't officially say they endorsed the relationship. It's just Chris Claremont talked about really enjoying the relationship as did former editor Bob Harras. Mike Carey even enjoys them together and not together. Of course they both have issues to work out and Mike Carey is going to do wonders for Gambit and even more good work with Rogue. I did say somewhere else that I'd give it a good five years for them to get back together. It is out of the question right now.

Who do you guys think Rogue will absorb her next power from?
I mean Carey mentioned these wouldn't be her only powers.
Do you think Rogue should gain super strength again?
She should she become a telepath? If not, then what kind of
powers would you rather she have and why?

Also, who do you guys think will perish in her hands?
Pan did mention that this strain will cause her to absorb
a persons life along with their powers.

You know, Carey said that someone would die, right? And someone would go nuts, right? What if Rogue absorbs one of her X-Men - to death? My guess is it would be Lady Mastermind. What do you think?

That probably will be the cause of the character death in issue #200. And it probably will be Lady Mastermind as opposed to a beloved character like Iceman. Poor Rogue, she always wanted to be able to touch people not instantaneously kill them. She'd end up with the powers of the person she touched. Rogue the telepath would be pretty funny. Then she could find Gambit.:cwink:

I thought it would be cool if her power started working in reverse. In the game X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, Rogue had a move called energy overflow in which she exuded a type of green energy blast and she could heal herself. That way she could maybe create an energy field so she could touch someone without harm. I do miss the Ms. Marvel powers. I don't prefer Rogue as the human torch.

So what you're saying is...

Much like how Scott and Jean are so completely and forever OVER...so are Gambit and Rogue?

You can't safely say that. What one writer will do is not what another will do. Where one wants to take a character can always lead to a plotline most unexpected.

I think that while their romantic relationship may be over for now...there's REALLY no telling. Hell, in ten years when the current writer has moved on to other things, he won't even care what some new writer is going to do. Why should he?

As for Rogue's powers...

I'm talking at LEAST technologically. With all the technology floating around to subjugate/kill mutants, you'd think one of the supergeniuses running around the damn Marvel-verse could use his spare time to make a handy bracelet so Rogue can touch...

But no, they're too BUSY.

*sigh*

^Right on about the writers. It just depends who writes these characters. A year ago did anyone see the delima that the mutant community would be in (not being able to reproduce)?

And about Rogue's powers - it is weird how Beast and Forge are X-Men....right? Cant they take a minute or two (I know building Nimrod is imporant stuff) to build Rogue something...anything?

That would be cool if, at the end of this endangered species & Fall event, if Rogue was the one who was pregnant and have the first mutant child (after the House of M).

.

This is something that always bothered me, why not put on one of the Genosha collars from way back when? There are def solutions to Rogue's problem and no one has made an attempt.

^Yep, most likely because she is much more of an interesting character with her powers out of control.

The genoshan collars solution exists only in fanfics :oldrazz:

But hell yeah, 20 years in comics and none to help rogue. I think she would accept a collar in order to be able to turn on and off her powers. They've created other bull***t for space travelling and dimensions and craps like that and not a bracelet to supress mutant powers. pathetic :o

she needs a power inhibitor belt

Yes! This is exactly what I am saying.

By now, Marvel has already established that Rogue is a kick-ass character.

Now let's get to the "OMG she's sleeping with all the single men in a one-mile radius" point of her evolution as a character. ROFLMAO.

Seriously though.

A character this established needs a shake-up. We've already gone through the "I can't touch so I won't love" and the "I can't touch but I can still love" and the "I can touch because I've lost my powers saving my lover" stages. Let's get to the "I've learned to control my powers and now must learn to become comfortable with it" portion of her life.

There's only so much insecurity and defensiveness from this Southern Belle that I can take.

Poor Rogue has always seemed to be miserable. I want her to finally realize that she can be happy and complete in herself. Her friends and sweetheart have tried to show her how great she is and that she deserves the best. She keeps pushing people away. It's time for something better for her. I think Carey is putting her in the right direction to be strong in herself. At last, there has got to be some solution to her touching problem. Rogue deserves to be on a better level!

Completely.

Okay, so new topic...

I know it's prolly been asked before and will be asked again...

If not Anna Paquin to play Rogue in the movies, who would you have chosen?

(Lame question, but I'm trying to prevent the conversation from sliding back into Rogue/Gambit territory).

Personally, I love ANNA. Completely, since The Piano, and while I think she did a good job with Rogue (she can only work with what the damn writers GAVE her), I think...personally, if they'd went with STRONG Rogue instead of INSECURE Rogue, that Anna couldn't have done it best.

Natalie Portman could've.

I like Anna, but she didn't capture Rogue's strength at all.
I mean it wasn't her fault either. It's the type of character they were going for.

I would've wanted Rogue to be a full grown woman.
And I would of picked out of these 2 actresses.

Cherlize Theron - Her southern accent
in "Devil's Advocate" was perfect!

James King - Her southern accent is great also,
plus she has a great look in this picture.
All that's missing is the hooded cape :woot:

Yeah, James King would defenatley pull of Rogue's look.

I actually adore James King. She'd have been great for Rogue too.

Have y'all heard of the new animated X-Men series to come? Wolverine and the X-Men?

Rogue is supposed to be in it, and I'm wondering how they're intending to play it.
