Comics The Official ROGUE Discussion Thread

Good grief, if you haven't read the issue don't bother complaining now.
I did read issue about "Warbird" coming back to "kill" Rogue but that
doesn't mean Rogue can't whoop Carol's butt again.
So drop the posh tude and get what I'm saying. Thanks ;).

And what I'm saying is that Rogue doesn't need the Ms. Marvel powers to be great anymore. She wasn't even as good with those powers as Carol is. Since Carol's also proven her killer instincts, she's a bigger threat to Rogue than vice versa. But Destiny already said that in the beginning.

Destiny also predicted plenty of other things that weren't accurate.
I just don't think Carol has a promised win against Rogue, sorry.

  • Ms. Marvel #9 & 10
The evidence doesn't favor Rogue so well.

Let's not forget that Ms. Marvel faired better against Sabretooth than Rogue in personal encounters. Ms. Marvel fought better against the Reavers. When facing indomitable robots Ms. Marvel has managed to beat the Doomsday Man twice. Kitty had to lead Rogue into defeating Nimrod.

Now that Ms. Marvel will be leading the Mighty Avengers there might be a collision against Rogue's team. Especially after Carol busted her up last month in Ms. Marvel #10.

Besides the Sunfire powers suit Rogue's codename better than the Ms. Marvel's powers. It expresses her attitude better and she comes out less like a tomboy.

I dont agree, I think her being a rogue, Ms. Marvels powers represent that much more. Strength and invulnerability, these are things a loner would need, not fire. Besides there are way to many flame based characters in the Marvel Universe.

Human Torch
Sunfire
Pyro
Phoenix
Sunpyre
Rogue
Matchstick
the list can go on and on and on and on.

By the way Rogue got those power during her mini.

It wasn't a mini, It was a canceled series. I used to collect it along with Gambit and Nightcrawler.:(

well you know what I mean.

But dont you agree there are far to many pyrokinetics in the Marvel Universe. So for a character like Rogue who could ditch those ones and gain new ones, why not fire powers are way to overused.

These won't be her only powers, just wait and see :yay:

Yes, and I grew Up with Ms. Marvel Rogue. That should tell you how I feel about current powers.

I want Rogue without the fire powers too bt you are using the wrong argument bc there are WAY more characters who can fly and/or have super strength. There's at least one on every team

In my opinion, X-Men is th best book out there. Astonishing is over hyped and Uncannys current 12 issue arc is getting boring.

My girl, Rogue, is rocking these days! I love everything about Carey.

I want rid of the fire powers and just have Rogue with ehr own leeching powers. She kicks booty at the moment and I love what a rebel she's become. I also wnat Gambit shot in the knee caps so he can never come back to her.

You know what I jus thought about?
It's amazing how all of that can just "vamoosh" disappear
with just one touch to Carol's long neck :woot:
Then her existence would mean nothing.
Rogue'll suck her dry again and place her in a come like it's a routine, LOL:woot:

Nah man, she needs a base.
Her original absorbing power isn't enough against most enemies.
Atleast with Sunfire's powers she can fly and create nukes.
Sunfire was also a trained Samurai so she must have those fighting skills.
I'm more excited about what additional or new power Carey has
planned for her.:oldrazz:

Rogue needs an additional power other than just her power absorption. The superstrength and invulnerability fit her perfectly, I hope she gets them back.

I'd rather see her wiht her own powers alone as when she has another set of powers she forgets about her own absorption powers. If she has to have another set of powers then it should Miss Marvels although I just know her leeching gifts will be neglected.

Hi y'all,
I didn't know there was a Rogue thread. I figured there was, but I didn't see it anywhere before. Anyway, Gambit and Rogue are my absolute favorite X-People. Actually, X-Men is the only comic I have ever read and it's because they're in it. True, Gambit is now Death, but Mike Carey has assured fans that Rogue won't let that whole Horseman situation lie. I miss Gambit and Rogue together. It's just not the same.

I miss Rogue's Ms. Marvel powers but it is cool to see her flame people. And I love having her as the kick tush leader of the adjectiveless X-Men. She actually got to tell Cyclops off. I never liked him.

Though on the current team, she is the only character I care about. I hate Mystique and Sabertooth. And for what it's worth, I didn't care for movie Rogue either. They messed her up. (And they left Gambit out. Shameful.)

And MasterJ, I LOVE Gambit and so does Rogue. He's got a heart of gold. Don't wish Remy harm, sugah.

rogue without gambit or rogue kicking gambit out rocks. i don't think they should get back together, she needs a stable environment for a while- considering her powers are so unstable in contrast

A lot of people on the boards feel the same way, but I still advocate them together. Right now it's not possible, but they love each other more than anyone else and I can't imagine Gambit and Rogue romantically involved with other people.

It looks like Rogue won't have any stability right now seeing as she is on a 'rogue' squad, on the road without the protection of the mansion.

So Rogue is entitled to smack Gambit upside the head, but when it comes to her man, he'll always be the one, Horseman or not.

They've both experienced uncontrollable powers in the past and gotten through it just fine, still in love with each other. The relationship is dysfunctional and Rogue and Gambit have some personal issues to solve, but the course of true love never did run smoothly. (And I wouldn't want it any other way.)

I concur.

I notice some people are saying they forget Rogue's original power the more she uses her additional powers. Well do you also forget Wolverine's healing power the more he uses his adamantium claws???

Gambit and Rogue were dead to me after the Mutant Massacre reveal back in UXM 350. Things should have ended then and there for good bc it just hasnt been the same since

There's been a lot of great material with Gambit and Rogue in it since then. Namely the wonderful TPB of X-Treme X-Men Vol. 2, Invasion by Chris Claremont. That story is beautiful and amazing. And since this is the Rogue thread, Mike Carey's doing some great stuff with her right now. She's the leader of a 'rogue' squadron and is at her take-charge best. Give Gambit and Rogue another chance.

Of course, they need to get back to the level of writing to that of Nicienza and Chris Claremont to do Gambit and Rogue justice. But Mike Carey is pretty good. (Though I have to say I didn't like Mr. Claremont's idea about Gambit being a lab creation of Mr. Sinister, but this is the Rogue thread.)
