Comics The Official ROGUE Discussion Thread

new canon has to start somewhere, for rogue i think carey's regeneration of her could be it-we all thought jean and scott were forever before emma:cmad:

You never can tell what will happen next. I certainly hope they can learn from the Emma Frost incident. That is not cool, one of the many things that has ticked me off since coming back to the comics. Poor Jean.

Rogue has had a bit of a renaissance but it is in keeping with what was in her all along. And on the Gambit front, Carey plans to bring him back. (He isn't really gone.) I don't want them to break off into a new canon. They have to keep the stories to come in continuity with what has already happened. Carey's pretty good at it.

And whether you love them together or not, I don't think we've seen the last of the Gambit and Rogue romance. I really hope not. It's the reason I read the comics to begin with, not that I don't love them both equally as individuals, it's just when they're together, in my mind I see sparks.

Someone in the X-Verse deserves to be happy.:csad:

i agree that rogue needs to be happy i just don't see that with gambit:(
i grew up on the cartoons of the nineties and loved them together but since i started reading the comics(ohh years ago now) their relationship frustrates me. How long can they be on/ off before they realize maybe this isn't going to work. To be honest if they did have a stable relationship a lot of fans would be disappointed because the tension and sparks could go

The writers should stop this on/off business. They should have Gambit and Rogue once and for all realize they were meant to be together. They can't live with each other, they can't live without each other. And yes, they are both high-maintenanace. But no more of this see-sawing. They need some stability.

When it comes down to it, Gambit and Rogue never give up on each other. When Gambit was left to die in Antartica (even though she abandoned him there after being forced to absorb his self-hate) the only person who cared was Rogue. She tirelessly searched for him. Rogue sees his goodness in a way no one else does. And Gambit loves Rogue like no one else. He's not afraid to touch her, even though most of the time it's dangerous. And I think one of the reasons who offered himself as a Horseman to Apocalypse was to protect Rogue from that fate. I don't know for sure, but it sounds possible.

In some ridiculous way, their romance is contingent with my happiness.

i'm the same way with the guys in my avatar-pretty sad huh? :woot:

Yeah, but I guess it's the emotional attachment to the characters that makes us buy the comic books. I haven't figured out how to post an avatar yet, maybe I will be able to after I write a certain amount of posts.

Anyway, what do you all think about the recent events involving Rogue in the comics? I suddenly realized I don't like her current costume. But I think it's great she's the leader of a 'rogue' squadron no less. I will always get a kick out of that term.:yay:

avatars require 300 posts.

i like where rogue is right now- her costume is beautiful when its drawn properly. like in the picture littering my myspace( in my sig) Some artists are really lazy with it though. I love her as leader but i don't think many are loyal to her. Iceman seems to be on her side and from appearances mystique wants to be(but appearances can be deceptive) i like to see where this is going.

Rogue needs to fight Gambit, not be with him.
He's a mess when it comes to dealing with Rogue.

thats her own fauly for not picking people that she can trust. Sabretooth, Mystique, Karima, Lady Mastermind. WTF? Come on Rogue, what were you thinking

I thought that was Cylcops' fault.

They both have issues, but with their troubled backgrounds, it's to be expected. Gambit loves her deeply. Frankly, he's the only one who isn't afraid to get close to her. The last thing on earth they should be is enemies. I think he'll get back to his senses soon. There's a lot of good in him and Rogue's the one who really sees it and won't give up on him. They are both demanding and can be difficult. They were made for each other though. Two fiery Southerners. They're the only people who can handle each other romantically and the only people who can put up with each other's crazy behaviors. Gambit has shown greater love to her, and she to him, than anyone else in their lives. The relationship may be dysfunctional, but one day they'll work it out. They have a lot of baggage to sort through first.

But, everyone is allowed to have their own opinion.

no its Rogue's fault. Cyclops told her she could pick whoever she wanted. No one told her to pick all these former (and most likely current villians) to be on her squad. If they arent loyal to her, she really shouldnt expect anything less.

she knows they aren't loyal to her though and i'm guessing she has plans up her sleeve. or at least i hope.

Rogue's the only one who can put up with them and also the despertate times in the comic require desperate measures including having former enemies on her team. She did inject Sabertooth with nano-sentinels in case he stepped out of line. Rogue is in top form.

She at least has Iceman, though he keeps getting killed, and Cannonball, and Karima would only turn evil if someone turned on her killing programming. And she has Cable, he's great. And, hey, Rogue could run into Wolverine. He'd be great help. Now about Gambit's problem...:yay:

Iceman has not been killed. She can definetly trust Bobby, Cable and Sam. Karima is questionable as she doesnt know her but she seems alright at the moment. Mystique, Sabretooth and Lady Mastermind however can not be trusted. She will have to constantly look over her shoulder with them around and I dont think its really worth the hassle

i loved the 'id like to see you try' line last issue- just for the prospect of rogue handing her, her ass

I guess Iceman didn't really die. I know Rogue doesn't trust Mystique, Sabertooth or Lady Mastermind, but they have all claimed sanctuary and they probably need to be on a team to keep them in line. Rogue must know what's she's doing. She's going to be stuck with the former villians for a while and she did used to be a villian herself, though of course she was never really evil. Rogue probably knows exactly what they're thinking, which makes her the most qualified to lead them. They can't pull a trick she doesn't already know about.

I asked my fellow posters for Gambit quotes in the Gambit thread, so I would love to hear about your favorite Rogue quotes. And I love it when people post pictures on the boards.

While the story lines have been okay thus far for that book, it bugs me that Rogue has Mystique, Sabretooth, AND Lady Mastermind on the team. I'm so sick of the villains possibly getting redemption, returning to villains cycle they've built up. It's bound to happen again, and hell, these villains really aren't even worthy of redemption. Do we forget what Mystique did to Banshee? Or Sabretooth to countless people?

namely Psylocke. I think its pretty f-ed up of Rogue to have Sabretooth on her squad after he slaughtered Betsy. Im surprised no one else on the team is more phased by it. Sam should be pissed since Sabretooth used Tabitha and tried to go after her. Bobby should be more angry as well. I wish Warren was around bc he deifnetly wouldnt stand for this. Well maybe with the current writing he would. I really wish Betsy was around to just go off on everyone who supports Sabretooth around, namely Rogue.

Psylocke's dead again? Why do they keep doing this to her?

I hate Sabertooth and Mystique, but I was trying to come up with a good reason they're on her team. I don't like them being with the X-Men one bit. They're both heartless murderers. I actually wish they'd never come to the mansion. I said in a post in the X-Men Discussion thread that I wanted Rogue to knock Mystique off a cliff. And Rogue had Sabertooth injected with nano-sentinels, so when he gets out of line, they can be activated. He'd better not get away with anything.

Gambit would be livid to find out that Sabertooth and Mystique are on a team with Rogue. He wouldn't stand for it either. Maybe since he's Death now, he can do something about it. Oh, I'm so bad.:cwink:

No she isnt dead. She just showed up in this week's Exiles.

I'm really curious on this arc. What is going to happen to her.
I think that in a year Rogue will be TOTALLY different in power terms. Let's wait and see :yay:

You know what I jus thought about?
It's amazing how all of that can just "vamoosh" disappear
with just one touch to Carol's long neck :woot:
Then her existence would mean nothing.
Rogue'll suck her dry again and place her in a come like it's a routine, LOL:woot:

Nonsense. It's like saying she can easily touch a shooter firing a machine gun. Bad logic there.

She would say nothing to Rogue for the simple fact that she knows
Rogue is true to her. Or did we not forget who avenged "Betsy" while beating the crap out of Vargas?
Rogue has those snakes under a microscope, trust me.
The team won't consist of this lineup for long.

I think they placed Mystique on the team to help evolve more
relationship between Rogue & her. Due to Carey saying these also
might not be Rogue's only powers for the rest of the arc :cwink:
I assume she will need her "mothers'" support (i.e. X-Men Annual).

I wish and PRAY that happens!
She's missing something, hopefully Carey knows what it is.
