Apocalypse The Official Sophie Turner/Jean Grey Thread - Part 2

[BLACKOUT]Honest to god I just about cried. I've been waiting since 2003. The score helped make Jean no less than legendary[/BLACKOUT]

Jean felt like a direct translation from the comics.

As one of the resident Sophie superfans on this board, I feel validated. I agree that the accent is strained in a few places, but on the whole it's fine (though as someone who has been watching her on TV and in interviews since 2011 with her English accent it took some getting used to). And she has one of the best arcs in the film.

well iwas one fan who wanted Sophie to be jean before she was cast.I felt she did fine with accent.

I loved it when she was just walking on air. And I kept watch for signs of the Phoenix. Did not expect the full firebird. I loved it. And I liked her arc in the film. In a way, it sort of enhances X3, to get a better idea of what the power was like.

I was excited to see what your reaction was haha

But yeah as a lifelong Jean Grey fan I was completely in awe of Sophie. She nailed it.

[blackout] and the one phoenix scene was better than all of x3 lol [/blackout]

Sophie slayed. Glad to be proven wrong. Though her accent was wonky. I got over it. As someone said, Fassbender was all over the place in FC.

I am very VERY pleased with Sophie. Our theater's crowd tonight was totally cheering her on during her "special moment."

Girl slayed it. As a long time Game of Thrones fan (and Sansa defender), I am kind of amused how things have turned around for the character and actress this week between Sansa finally delivering on the potential she has had since Season 2 on Sunday and now Turner knocking this out of the park here.

I suspect that they will build future movies around this Jean, especially if Lawrence does not come back.

You can tell that Sophie is working her butt off to reinvent herself as an actress known for more kick-ass roles. It's been a long time coming and its so satisfying.

:highfive:

Super excited to see where they take her character. And to see where Sophie's career goes from here. :ilv:

Thought she was pretty good. Didn't notice any major issues with her accent...I think people are just noticing that she has a slightly huskier voice at times.

She's well suited for the role though, and had a decent screen presence in a supporting role this time out. I like the relationships that are developing, and I really like that Charles is aware that he needs to take a different approach to managing her powers VS the other timeline. The
firebird was awesome. The theatre lost it when that happened.
. I like that she and Scott have chemistry, but they didn't go straight to romantic stuff yet. They've got something in common, but they're going to be friends and allies first. Nicely handled.

Sophie was amazing.

And THAT scene. With that
bird
sound.

Amazing!

Sophie killed it man. I dare say she was a scene stealer as well. I really hope they utilize her for future movies.

Sophie was amazing and that scene...

When Jean unleashed all her Phoenix glory had me like

I enjoyed her in this, Sophie did a good job.

I do wish though that they didn't try to rush into Phoenix mode so quickly. Let it build up a couple of movies. Especially with Xavier having to repeatedly tell her to LET GO JEAN LET GO!!! LET GO LET GO LET GO LET GO!

It just took the excitement out of me

I just wish Xavier wasn't so aggressive and forcing Jean to unleash it, its the complete opposite of X3's Xavier but still so freaking over the top and controlling.... Jean Grey unleashing it should have been her own choice without anyone yelling in her mind again and again to freaking let it go, its her hero moment anyway so, they should have let her do that by herself, its like if Xavier didn't ask for help, she would just have done nothing? so for that I don't like Xavier in this film. But still the Phoenix was amazing!

It actually made perfect sense. This Xavier also had a run in with his other timeline older self lest we forget.

I'm sure he gave him a tip as to [blackout]not suppress Jean's powers. [/blackout]

In a way, Jean's arc in this movie kind of enhanced X3, as it kind of showed what she was dealing with in a better way.

Any chance that she'll get an accent coach before the next film starts filming?

Vaughn let Fassy be Irish in FC, then he studied tapes of McKellen for DOFP, and then combined the two in Apocalypse, so yeah, as long as Sophie makes the attempt I'm sure it'll be fine.
