As far as the climax goes, we've got as a starting point Apocalypse and four horsemen versus Mystique, Beast, Jean, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Quicksilver, and Jubilee, plus Moira also in the picture somehow, and we don't quite know what Professor X will be doing. But Storm, at least, is clearly going to switch sides at some point, and she may do so before the final battle.

But yeah, I have thought we may see Jean versus Psylocke, since they're both telepaths and Jean's telekinesis should give her at least some ability to avoid being sliced and diced.

I just hope that the Four Horsemen have some distinguishing characteristics that they're under Apocalypse's thrall. I am not sure if it would be dark eyes or what, but they need to distinguish this as something much bigger than Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutants in X1 or Shaw's Hellfire Club (but really a proto-brotherhood) in XFC.

Having Xavier switch sides, lose his hair and take on alien characteristics would be a cool way to do that. It also could lead Bryan to jumpstart doing his Phoenix movie in the next one, as I imagine he has at most one more X-Men movie in him after this. If that.

Because Phoenix is the last ground not yet crossed by him. He's done Sentinels/Time travel and now he's doing Apocalypse. I doubt he'll ever do the Shi'Ar, but he obviously had Phoenix on the brain for X3 before he left the project and it was grotesquely mishandled. And he and Sophie Turner have both made a point to namedrop Jean's Phoenix comic book heritage multiple times.

I think he will hint at it here. And I just like the idea of Xavier switching sides because it really ups the stakes of Apocalypse being something much bigger than another Magneto "Follow me my children!" type of character.

But seriously, I think for sure that they will do Phoenix again and properly at some point in the "next trilogy." And if Singer only is doing one more after Apocalypse, Phoenix has been on his bucket list since at least 2003, so I say let him have a crack at it.

TBH its more the fans who are speaking for bryan right now, its like well we hated X3 so bryan must want to do his version for us the fans... But lets be honest FOX are in charge and they probably wouldn't let him because there are plenty of new stories they could get him to do and Bryan doesn't actually hate X3 and has shown a considerable amount of respect for it so we can only guess he will do that again since he says Apocalypse will resolve FC,DOFP and OT movies

plus he has kinda hinted about the phoenix involvement in apocalypse

Hinted does not mean it will be resolved as a subplot here. In fact, I can guarantee that, because it would be a wasted opportunity.

As has been pointed out before, the Joker vs. Batman had been done before The Dark Knight. That didn't stop Nolan from taking one of the greatest aspects of Batman mythos and crafting a masterpiece out of it.

Phoenix is one of the absolutely best aspects of X-Men mythos. Certainly more so than just doing Mr. Sinister. By the time the next X-Men movie comes out, it will at least be 2019, which is 13 years since X3. Nobody will care that it has been done before if it is finally done well.

I think the Phoenix will be brought up but it will be resolved. The whole reason Phoenix manifested the way it did was because Professor X put blocks on Jean when she was young to contain her power. In this new timeline he has seen what becomes of the future but also has learnt not to try and control someone for example with Mystique. He won't make the same mistake. So I don't think we will get full blown Phoenix but we will get a Jean who Charles helps control and use her powers to the best of her ability without it controlling her.

Or we know that Jean is Professor Xavier's most prized pupil and even from that leaked footage we have a great sense of their dynamic already. If he's taken by Apocalypse that part of Jean might come out to help save him and from there he helps her control the power.

Professor X saw Jean going crazy and Logan had to kill her. But the point is Charles won't try and hide Jean away. He tried that with Mystique and look what happened. His whole arc in DoFP was to not control Mystique. He tried and it kept failing. He had to leave the future in her hand and it was his guidance that drove her to do the right thing. He won't try and control Jean now. He will teach her, lead her and guide her. If he were to do that all over again it was a waste of his development.
